  1. First pic is sunset on the English river in Ignace, Ontario. The second pic was at sunrise on Mozingo just after a storm rolled through.
  2. Other than clinging to everything and plugging up water lines, what problem do they cause? They don't hurt the quality of fish and they filter the water making it cleaner. I'm not trying to start an arguement, and always take the necessary precautions when leaving a lake known to have them, but it seems like it's all just a bunch of hype to me.
  3. Caught a few smallies, one nice 17in. Hit hybrids and a couple small stripers early at dawn on point 2 and a few small walleye after dark under a green light. All on binks. Hybrids I was sitting in 20ft casting deep off the point. Walleye were caught vertical jigging in 20ft under the light.
  4. I'll be there the first week of August, launching out of Lost Bridge Marina. I have a red Tracker deep v tiller, with MO registration and a couple of Walleye decals on the back. If you happen to see me, stop and say hi, I'll gladly share any info I figure out.
  5. Hope you get more responses than I did. A couple of weeks I asked the same question since it will be my first trip to Beaver. Almost 200 views and only 1 response.
  6. Sean I'm curious if you ever hit Smithville this year?
  7. I bought my 120 LED green light 1250 Lumens from NewEgg.com for $40, I believe it has 16ft of cord.
  8. I will be making my first trip to Beaver the 1st week of August. I'll be staying in the Lost Bridge (Fishtrap hollow) area and would like to fish for some Walleyes. I'm not looking for anyone's spot, just a someone to point me in the general area. Any pointers would be helpful. Thanks for any info you can give! If any of you ever venture up north to Mozingo or Smithville I'll gladly give you some pointers.
  9. 27lbs
  10. Fished Mozingo Saturday night, caught 5 walleye 3 were 15-15.5 and one 18 one 19. Took my buddy with me and he caught his first walleye. He was about as happy as a little kid catching their first fish! All of them came on white Shadow Raps. The Shadow Rap is starting to creep up there as one of my favorite lures, but you still can't beat the Flicker shad!
  11. My spare tire was stolen this fall from the ramp off of RB hwy.
  12. Haha you're right! I didn't realize you would be clear on the other side of the lake!
  13. My best guess would be to fish the K dock area. Fish the channel edge during the daytime and move up shallower on the flats during low light times.
  14. I hope this doesn't start a huge argument, but the 20-25 inch females are the ones you want to release. The old big girls may have a lot of eggs but they are not very fertile. Ask your local agent if you think I'm just blowing smoke.
  15. Yup, stay away from Smithville....
  16. Good luck on getting any info on that! Haha...
  17. Yes there is a courtesy dock at K dock but it's probably still under water and it's pretty shallow in that area when the water levels are normal. I believe there was only 3 ft of water last March when I launched from there.
  18. Last 2 weeks of March. Length of daylight affects them more than water temp in my opinion. You may find a few earlier, the same as you will find a few stragglers late.
  19. Walleyes swim, they don't run
  20. Just to throw my 2 cents in here. Make sure your crankbaits are tuned to run straight. A lot of the times they won't run straight right out of the box. I'll take my spincast rod and make a few cast before trolling to make sure they are running straight. If they're running to one side or the other you're not going to accurately reach the depth you're looking for, and if you're running more multiple rods from the same side of the boat you'll risk getting your lines tangled. Another helpful thing is to download the precision trolling app for your phone. It will help you to learn how much line to put out to reach your desired depth. It may not be 100% accurate but it'll get you in the ballpark. I use 10lb mono for my trolling rods, or you can use fireline to get your lures to run a bit deeper. The trolling app lets you choose what line you are using to be more accurate on how much line to let out. Also make sure you have a full spool of line on your reel. I like to use the same reels and same line on both of my rods to keep things as accurate as possible.
  21. I have a 60hp mercury 4 stroke on my 16ft Aluminum boat. In idle trolling forward in light wind 0-10mph my speed is 2.3-2.5 mph, back trolling (trolling in reverse) my speed is 1.5-1.7 mph. If there is a strong wind 15-20 mph I can troll into the wind and achieve a speed of 1.5-2 mph If you have a large hp motor my guess would be your idle speed would be too fast and you should throw out a drift sock or two, to slow you down or use your trolling motor. Also most trolling curves are set at speeds between 1.5 and 2 mph. The faster you go the more the bait will rise, so for example if you are wanting to troll at 15ft and the dive curve says let out 100ft of line but you're trolling at 3 mph instead of the 1.5-2 mph the curve was set at you would have to let out more line to reach the 15ft depth.
