  1. Is going to be a good day. Is 18* outside so to cold to get out. BUT Bass Master Classic final day, if you can't be there this internet coverage is great, and the Daytona 500, with no Busch brothers. I have been to Bass Pro and Rogers sporting goods so have a couple big bags of new stuff to play with and a new rod and reel to rub on. Great home made pizza for lunch and BBQ ribs later. I may not even get dressed today. Kids stay home. HA.
  2. Sounds like a nice deal. A great winter project.
  3. I went for the Scatter Rap last year. A friend and I went down to the Classic in Birmingham, Al. They were really talking them up, even a special sale price. I think I have 3-4 left out of 6. Haven't caught anything on them. I saw an ad for the Shadow Rap today on the Classic Live. Got to say they look good and they have a good story. I think that is called marketing? I think I will go more for the, new to me, Ned Rig for awhile.
  4. I have eaten carp prepared several ways and it has all been good. Canned makes great fish soup and fried patties, as good as salmon. Fried is great. I find it less fishy taste than a lot of fish. Marinate in a good salty brine and smoke them. Great jerky.
  5. Nice outfit. Don't know anything about jet boats. Saw one on the Neosho river, Grand Lake around Twin Bridges once. Take off was impressive. Take care shooting those rapids. FUN I bet!
  6. This is how I paint jig heads. I bought a 100' roll of 3/32 heat shrink tubing. You can get it at hardware store but buying it in bulk is much cheaper. I cut pieces approx 1/2" long and slip it over the eye. Get 1/8" drool rood and cut pieces approx 1/2" long. Stick a piece into the hole in head for weed guard. Heat, dip into powder paint and hit your pillars, I use hemostats which lock, on the top of the paint container. Pinch off the tubing, pull out the drool rod, which you can reuse several times, and hang up to cool. No paint in weed guard hole or in hook eye. (I know pic is to big but.....)
  7. One of the problems I have with the fish and game department is that they bring a bunch of snakes to fairs and exhibits in malls and let kids handle them. Just stupid in my opinion! If they want to bring them and let people look at them in their cage....fine. But they should be teaching kids, and adults, they should not be picking up snakes, of any kind, in the outdoors. They let a little kid hold them and they loose their fear of snakes. You can tell them all you want while they are holding them not to pick them. You think they are listening to you when a guy hands them a snake? DAAA. They think it is OK to pick them up in the wild. So they get bit....now whose fault is that?? Those guys are not to smart, again in my opinion, or they don't have, or understand, kids! OK.....rant over.
  8. Was in the Army. Your gig line is crooked boy!
  9. Poor lady dropped her groceries.

  11. Pull off the road, out of traffic, remove foot from brake pedal, and relax. If lights behind you blink twice, get yourself together. Story is "We were looking at GPS for way home". That's your story and stick with it. HA.
  12. NASCAR NEWS...Jeff Gordon fires his entire pit crew This announcement followed Gordon's decision to take advantage of the government's scheme to employ paroled car thieves. The decision to hire them was brought about by a recent documentary on how car thieves were able to remove a set of wheels in less than 6 seconds without proper equipment, whereas Gordon's existing crew could only do it in 8 seconds with millions of dollars worth of high tech equipment. It was thought to be an excellent and bold move by Gordon's management team as most races are won or lost in the pits. However-Gordon got more than he bargained for! At the crew's first practice session, not only was the inexperienced crew able to change all 4 wheels in under 6 seconds, but within 12 seconds they had changed the paint scheme, altered the VIN, and sold the car to Dale Jr. for 10 cases of Bud, a bag of weed, and some photos of Jeff Gordon's wife in the shower.
  13. Ha Done that. Had a few lead burns in the carpet in the den of old house before I figured what was causing it.
  14. Deceptive marketing drawing from sympathies of true animal lovers. I have read/heard, can't verify it to be fact, that of all the money from donations they bring in not a dime actually go to supporting local Humane Society efforts. Regardless, I have read enough about them that I am not a fan.
  15. An aphrodisiac. Makes you want to root.
  16. I want to be a locust tree......thorny.
  17. Guess he should have been wearing a cup!
  18. I have purchased powder paint for jigs from https://www.powderbuythepound.com/. The best pricing and available colors I have found. I don't even use a fluid bath. I use a pair of large forceps to hold the jig head. I heat it with a hot gun, as mentioned above from Harbor Freight, and quickly dip it in the powder. Tap it on top of the jar to knock of anything loose. Then hang it on a drool rod to cool. It comes out bright and shinny. I then cure it in the oven. 350* for about 12 min.
  19. I second this thread becoming a "sticky" at the top of the forum. Very helpful and interesting. In the past my use of my fish finder was pretty much limited to knowing the depth of the water. I upgraded last year to Elite 7's and hope to learn how to utilize them better.
  20. I was not aware of that. Sounds like great fun. Will for sure check it out. Thanks.
  21. I am not a professional jig maker by any means but would be happy to show you what I know to get you started. It is easier than you might think. I buy the jig heads, paint them, insert weed guard, make a skirt and slid it on. Over the winter I have made some of the ugliest things you have ever seen! Cabin fever. HA.
  22. I have 22 Bass Stalker Standup jigs, 7/16 oz, for sale. $20 TYD. New in package. 3 - Pumpkin/Melon Pepper 1 - Brown 6 - Black/Blue Chartreuse 1 - Black/Chartreuse 2 - Texas Craw 2 - Arkansas Craw 2 - Pond Scum/Blue 1 - Brown Orange Craw 4 - Rootbeer Craw
  23. PB&J Deemed Racist http://tellmenow.com/2014/04/pbj-deemed-racist/ Lets quit calling it pork and call it "the other white meat" and everyone should be happy! Right?
  24. Moving to Bella Vista this spring. We live in Richmond, Mo currently. Can't wait!! I am 67 and retired last year as a Network Administer. The position was out growing me. I have fished with Olathe Bass Club the past 8 years. I don't golf but might pick it up just to aureate the courses. HA. I enjoy making my own jigs. They aren't perfect yet. They don't catch as many fish as I would like. I hope to meet some of you on the water, or watering holes.
  25. A lot of the sale items are in store only. If you want one of the Pro Qualifier reels at $50 you should have been there when the doors opened and be at the head of the line. Each store only gets so many. Olathe Bass Pro store was sold out in less than an hour. No rain checks. Call before you travel!
