Feral Hogs are getting out of hand
wayneblevins replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Conservation Issues
I can't find the court records for the case but it was at west plains. The person telling me this inspected dairy farms and it occurred on a farm he inspected. He told me that the farmer had called MDC and was told he could not shoot the coyotes with the aid of a light This was after he had already lost six or seven calves MDC advised him that it was probably dogs killing the calves. The farmer then recorded the coyotes attacking a calf that had just been born he was still advised no shooting with a light. He finally shot one after they started to eat the backend out of the cows while they were calving and got caught he fought the ticket in court and lost. I also called MDC and asked about this because I lost several chickens to coyotes and was told no i could not shoot them with the aid of a light ended up losing twenty hens in the span of a month I finally shot the coyote during the day time while standing on my front porch as it was digging under the chicken pen. -
Feral Hogs are getting out of hand

While I don't want hogs I have to agree that mdc works off of what brings in the most money. In most cases that is deer. I know of instances where a farmer has shot coyotes after dark for killing livestock and they were fined. I watched from a roadway less that a week ago as two coyotes attempted to kill a calf. They had the cow, and two calves cornered (she had just had twins ) they approached from different directions one from each side the cow had a calf one each side of her with no chance of protecting both of the calves I stopped and yelled at the coyotes, but they paid me no mind. I then drove to where I had phone service and called the land owner he came and delt with the problem. It this had been after dark he would have been guilty of spotlighting the coyotes. MDC refuses to change any regulation for this because it might make it harder for them to prosecute people poaching deer. I know someone smarter than me ( that won't take much) does a search they can find instances of this same thing happening and the farmer getting convicted of poaching this is not right but it makes no difference to MDC deer is where they get the most revenue from -
Yes it was my sons second buck he got a seven point last year. my nephew Is still wondering why me or his grandpa havent shot one like that before. his mom had it mounted for him for christmas

200 hp mariner

Sorry it took so long to reply the reason it blew was the oil line broke on the back of the buzzer so the alarm did not go off and it ran without oil -
I have a 200 hp mariner that is toast would i be better off having a rebuilt powerhead installed or buy a low hour used motor the boat has set for eight years and i am sure that i will find more problems along the way. the boat is a 1992 bass cat pantara classic that I am sure Bo has some experience with it used to belong to Kieth Testrerman but has since been through two owners. I am currently trying to restore the boat.

I was made a attempt to crappie fish in the horse shoe bend area yesterday but I did not have much luck only caught five keepers and a bunch of shorts but it was neat watching flw boats work the banks. The lake was not as busy as I thought it would be.
-
i will hopefully get to watch it again this year I try to fish grand when I can usually for white bass and catfish in the winter. Last year was the first year that I fished for black bass there and it was a learning experience to say the least after fishing table rock
-
I have read some of the Vance Randolff stuff as well as Larry Dablemont and John Hinds there also used to be a book that the Mcdonald county historical society had by J.A Stugill that is very good.
-
It was great I took him last year but the only deer we seen would have put him shooting toward the neighbors house so he could not shoot this year his buck walked out at about 30 yards and he made a fair shot on him

I was just wondering how youth season went for everyone's children. My son got his first deer a nice seven point but it had broken all of its tines off. That did not seam to bother him though. I will try to post the pics from my phone when I get service my cell dose not work at my house

we would usually double check what we were seeing with regular sonar. It was interesting to note that most of the trees we caught fish out of you could see the fish on the side scan. It seemed like we had more success by fishing the tree we could see the fish in than the ones around it that we could not see them in
-
It is nice it makes finding under water structure a lot easier his has side scan and the way we found crappie with was idle along and when you saw a tree with lots of white dots in it we would mark it as a way point then go back and usually catch fish out of it

Started at horse shoe bend at around noon Monday. Dad just bought a new boat and he wanted to take it. We caught 7 crappie all were about 20 ft deep suspended over trees in 40 ft of water on minnows with a 16th oz jig head. Just cast over the brush and let it fall most of the time when you started your retrieve you would have a fish on. I had to pick my son up from school so we only got to fish for about 2 hours. Went back today and got a earlier start at around 7.30 and it was basically the same thing but this time we caught 20 keeper crappie and 1 short also lost one that would have been pushing 16 in right at the boat. As for the new boat It is great it is a ranger z118. Makes my 185 tracker feel tiny. After using the new genIII electronics I think I need one. Sorry no pics my smart phone is trying to go to phone heaven and I have not bought a new one

My Daughter would probably have a problem with that But if some one would get me a size I would be more that happy to get him one and drop it off at hook line and sinker. It seemed to work for her. My daughter likes going with dad she has to help me haul hay feed cows fish and deer hunt last year I had to hunt out of the neighbors old barn with his permission so she could take her dolls.
-
Stopped by Hook Line and Sinker this morning and bought bait My daughter had to play with the Jack Russell that was there. I launched at horse shoe bend and fished around that area I managed to catch 3 keeper crappie and one catfish my daughter caught her first fish by herself a bluegill that was to small to keep but she enjoyed it( she just turned three last week). All the crappie and the catfish were caught in about 40 to 45 foot of water the crappie seemed to be suspended about thirty foot deep I could not get a bite any shallower than that. I would also like to thank the guys at hook line & sinker I bet the don't see many people in there store wearing a purple tutu (not me my daughter) Sorry no pics I left my phone in the truck
-
don't tell me that I went to table rock instead and did not catch a fish the week before I took my son but the trolling motor broke and we did not get to fish at all will probably try grand Saturday night and hopefully everything works
-
Saturday was bad for me also on the upper end fished around big M only managed 2 bites no fish
-
I have used the green lights off the boat but not docks. I have had good luck catching whites but not crappie with them
-
I bought a pelican for my business. I was buying a 2 bags of ice every day just to keep drinking water cold in a cheaper igloo now I just buy two bags on Monday and the water stays cool till the next Monday. That being said I usually leave the cooler in the back of the truck and it is usually parked in the sun. If I were buying a cooler for the boat or a float trip I would buy a lighter cooler. Also I recommend a length of cable and a good lock or you will lose your cooler.

You beat me to the post
