How many acres you looking for?

Late Merry Christmas and Happy New Years Day guys. Just got back from Texas. It was snowing when i left. Got about 30 miles into Oklahoma and roads were dry. By the time i reached Muskogee, sun was shining. Weird that Tx. was snowing but up here we had sun.

Sorry wrench. Just seen this post. Im game anytime. I hope i get an invite up to come help clear an area. Always willing to help out. I can donate whatever building materials we need "not foam". I have some other game ideas also that i pulled off airgun sites. Man im ready to have some fun.

Got the new scope mounted today. Not feeling these single basis "new scope didnt come with any so took them off the Optima the gun came with". Going to head into town and find a solid rail mount. As far as the scope, I dont think i have a more clear, brighter scope on any of my big boy guys, other than my wifes Leupold. Im impressed with it. If it wasnt so dang cold out i would go shoot.

The more i read on that gun the less im impressed. Got the new Hawke scope in yesterday but i leave before daylight and home after dark this week. Leaving to visit mom in Tx. in the morning but hoping to be back early enough Sunday to mount it and shoot. The first outing i will get that shot for ya. Speaking of scope delivery. This is how a scope is supposed to be packaged. Hawke did a great job with boxing. Love everything about this scope in hand.

wrench, Did you see that Airgun Depot is selling the Hatsan Edge Vortex in all 3 calibers for $83 BUCKS! Get ya a .177 and 25 cal.
-
Not to bad for a Magnum air gun Dan. I will be doing a video after getting the scope sighted in that will hopefully show the noise level of both the 177 and 25.
-
Ha. Nope got off their lists a few years back. I have not but will do it. Next cycle will be Thursday evening as the scope is supposed to be here that day.
-
.177 on the left. .25 on the right. I finally got to shoot it today. Shot about 40 down it. Took the first 10 to get the iron sights close. Last 5 shots were touching. Not bad at 15 yards for a blind guy. Cant wait for the scope to get here this week. Didnt notice any difference in loudness from the .177 guns. It takes more muscle to cock it tho, which is expected with that heavier spring. The "thump" of that pellet hitting wood was way noticeable. Left some good size chunks out. Here a .177 and .25 side by side. Such a huge difference. Really like the gun. This sucker is heavy. Weighs almost 9 pounds. Def. need to attach a sling if im going to walk the woods with it. Shoots easy and so accurate. The scope should set it up just right. Wrench i couldnt find a catalog, but will get one before next outting.

I had a 44mm in mind, but the more i thought, and liking the 50m on mydeer rifles, i wanted the same for the Hatsan. That scope should do you well. If not stick it on another, and go bigger.

cool video. Thanks for sharing. I have read book articles about that gun and how they used it to take multiple deer at a time to feed their crew. Well ahead of their time with that gun on their journey.

Thats one thing i have going for me. Im just not "that" smart yet. I watch more shooting videos "long range" than anything. I agree, the basics of shooting havent changed much in 100+ years. The guns have, but not the shooter. Only 38 messed up pellets in the tin, tho 3/4 of them have a blemish of some sort on the concaved side. They will straighten out going down the barrel. Hoping we get a warmer day soon so i can shoot outdoors and see what it will do. Got it all cleaned up tho. Its ready to see what it will do.

Yes they are. All sighted in at 20 yards. I havent shot it yet. Its leaning up against the wall as i type this. My goal is to put 100 rounds thru it before i scope it to get it settled down. Ihave some phone books and will do that test for ya. Still amazed at the size difference in pellets. Plan on seperating those bent ones out today and washing the others. Gun cleaning day also. May even tear it down to be sure i get all the crap out of it.

Im familiar with the Hawke brand. They make some nice higher end stuff. With the Hatsan being gas, im sure this scope will last. I need a 22cal so been looking at the Weihrauch HW97K Air Rifle. I should have spent a little more and got it instead of the Hatsan, but the bloggers really liked the Hatsan in 25 cal so i got it. I went and layed some flooring for a buddy today "had to leave my tree stand bow hunting" so have a little extra cash. May order this new gun this week. Going to sell my others except the Accu177.
-
Well i took you guys word and ordered another scope from P.A. Wont be here til end of next week. Amazon will ship weekends, but P.A doesnt so gotta wait longer. Same price with free shipping on both. After the condition my gun/scope/pellets came in today, i figured id give P.A a shot at my business.
-
Just looked on Pyramyd and their cheaper there also. i'm going to have to start doing business there because I read good reviews on that place. I've been an Amazon fan for years now so it's hard to switch
-
Amazon, via straight from Hatsan on the gun "so it says". The pellets the same say Webyshops. In the hand the damage to the can protrudes in 3/4" on the top dent and close to that on the bottom. Just guessing probably 50 damaged. Going to seperate them this evening. Its a 3-9x40 Optima scope. Not going to even mount it as i ordered the Hawke to put on this gun. Seriously couldnt believe the way the gun/scope was packaged. What a flippin joke!!!! My Crosman pellets i ordered on Amazon came bubble wrapped inside a padded envelope. Just not my day for ordering i guess. This is why i mentioned on the other post, Im not much of an order online guy.

Well stopped by the house at lunch and just happened to pull up same time as Fed-Ex. Took it inside, opened pellets. 1st notice was "these things are huge compared to .177". Noticed the edge of the tin was damaged. Opened up tin and slight look noticed almost every pellet where damaga was, was bent up.... The box the gun was in appeared to have been tossed about. Pretty beat up from shipment i assume. Open box and notice scope was just laying in there. Not in a seperate box, nothing like all my others. The gun was laying in there in plastic with no foam or anything to stop it from getting beat up. Noticed lots of red colored stuff on gun. It wiped off pretty easily. Took pictures, leaned it against the wall, and back to work....Man im hoping i dont have to send it back like lots of other have had to do. With those shipping packaging practices, i see why things get screwed up. The gun itself is heavy and appears to be nicely made. Resembles a real gun in weight/length/feel/blueing. Now lets hope the gun performs after a conplete scrubbing.

It will be here friday. A quick sight in session, and off to the trees Saturday i go. Thats after a good cleaning straight out of the box. Wanted the walnut stock, but got the poly. That new Hawke scope should put me above average on the fun scale.
-
Well, i went with the Hatsan 125 in 25cal. Ordered the JSB Match Diabolo in 25.39 gr. Im excited about the gas ram VS springers i have. Seen some nasty reviews about the gun, but lots of great reviews. Only way to know is try it. Looking forward to the punch. The last 2 tree monkeys i shot, perfect head shots behind the ears, both i had to finish off by hand. Pretty sure i wont have that issue with the 25 cal with those 25 grain pellets. If so i will try the 31.02 grain H&N.

Good info wrench. Heres what the guys on other forums are saying is the perfect scope "if there is such a thing" for the Hatsan 125. Little more than i wanted to spend, but if it lasts then its good. More reading on that gun tells me its a killer out to 50 yards on coyotes, and game of that size. Tho i plan to use it like my .177's it would be nice in knowing i could drop a yote if given the chance. Pretty sure thats the gun of choice, but tonight i will read more on the others. The .25 pellets are harder to come by than the .22 is my only draw back. But ordering 500 online shouldnt be an issue. Im a "buy it in person" kinda guy.

Sounds like a great time to me. I coon hunted for 12 years pretty hard. Had a few mules we rode when we planned to get further away from the farm than we wanted to walk. We would take off in any direction. Come to a fence, unmount the mule, place a saddle pad over the top strand, he would jump over the fence, remount and off we went again. I remember one very cold Ohio night hunting with Lowell Eicher. We were trying to catch up to the dogs. I took a short cut and came upon a creek. Just as the mule jumped, he lost footing and he and i both ended up in 3' of water on a night that wasnt much warmer than 25. It was a miserably next 2 hours. I havent been coon hunting in 7 years, but really enjoy it. Those mules sure made getting around alot easier.
