This was posted by a buddy of mine a few hours ago in regards to the 4 Marines and 1 officer involved shooting earlier. Good words and im proud to call him my friend of years.

yep, thats the one. Just read another article about them, and they are hyping them up as the newest, smoothest, longest casting guides to ever be mounted to a rod. I see it as just another money maker for the gullable. Kinda want to get my hands on the new magnesium reel.

no teaching needed. Put it over, strap velco, put on a shirt, and your ready. But no, they have no need as their no in daily situations where a high risk of danger presents itself. Well, one is a nurse so i guess she could get away with it. Lots of meth heads show up at the ER wacked out of their minds.

I will try these 2 out on Shoals tomorrow and Sat. My son would love to upgrade to these, so if im not feeing them, he will get these and i will take J's advice on trying the H2O rods. Man i liked the one i seen yesterday, but......

Actually i do own 2 vests. Yes tge department issues them, but the one i wore for several years was getting rank smelling, and a retired family member had a new one, so i bought and wear his.

good point. I guess that all the posts from the antis in this thread are. Just opinions, no facts. On a serious note, i couldnt amagine living without the ability to protect myself or family when all other avenues have been exhausted. I raised my kids, 3 girls and 1 son, around firearms. They all, now in their 20's, love to shoot, and hunt. They are very capable of protecting themselves from any threat, where the threat has the potential to become deadly if need be. I have no issue taking someones life, and wouldnt loose a seconds sleep over it, if the person was in the wrong. I pretty set in my ways, like most gn owners, and think ive done a pretty good job at teaching those in my life self defense and firearm training as to help prevent them from being more of a victim that those without training would be.

Like you, i watch and read so e of the new products. KVD has a video talking about some of the new Strike King baits that look interesting. The new guides on rods dont register in my mind yet. The video i watched explained the larger guide stops the twist while the smaller smoothes the cast. Anyone know how much advantage as far as casting distance? The Spros look kinda cool. Just hard forking out that much per bait when i loose as many as i do.

Hey rps, Those links are as trusted as the Obama admin...Look at who did the study on some. A backyard media nutso who was born anti-gun. Just gotta smile at those things. Ol' wrench said, again in his non-educated opinion, that not ONE of these pro-gun guys even own a vest. Well, i have to disagree because i must be the one you didnt put in that same group. I have owned, and wore one for years. Little warm standing on the pavement working an accident in August, when its 100+ out, but its a tool of tge trade. Hoglaw, as far as im aware, no CC is needed to carry a firearm inside of a vehicle for ANY reason. Nope, just lay it on the seat where the guy trying to car jack your car, and my guess is he would be running for the hills after seeing it. Now without that same protection, your just up a creek with no paddle v

I really planned to J. They had a nice rod, it was a lighter blue color for $60.00 that caught my eye. It was 7'2 MH. I have an extra reel sitting that needs a rod, so i may pick one up before my tourney on BS Sat. just to compare to the others i purchased. Andy, in all my years of fishing, iver never lost one over the side. Ive been in the boat a few times when buddies have lost one, and ive come close, but i would be very tempted to dive in after it if so. Of course that depends on water temps/depth.

With the talk about the H2O rods today, i made a trip to Freddies to eat, then across to Academy. Had the thought i would buy a few of the H2O flippin/worm rods, and ended up with a Shimano Sellus 7'2 worm/jig and a Lews 7'6 SpeedStick. Guess if these dont cut the mustard, off to Academy we go again. Both of these rods have a good feel. Their updates from what im using on some of my reels, so its money well spent.

Mo, It will take a a hell of a lot more than a few anti gun fishermen to ever convience me that owning, carrying, using a handgun has a negative effect on society. Im VERY pro-gun, and if elected President, i would make it law that EVERY anti, handgun hatin', city bred, closed minded person would HAVE to take classes on how to handle, operate, and own a handgun. So write me in for the next election. P.S. Did i mention im very Pro-Gun?
-
mjk, I, as well as several family members and buddies have hunted with handguns for more years than weve hunted with rifles. Not to be a jerk, but it sounds luke your a city boy with no knowledge of firearms. Read, gain wisdom, go to a shooting range with an instructor, and open your eyes. You sound pretty nieve.

Lots of "closet" anti-gun boys in this thread. If you dont want to carry open, or concealed, then be a victim. Its probably in the best interest of society anyways, due to your lack of training, knowledge of guns, how to safely handle one, but dont sit in your closet, and think that because you are incapable of carrying a firearm, that others are in your same "closet" At times i read these fishing threads, and think what idiots there are in this world, but some of those "you negative, anti-gun posters" that are posting in this thread make those fishing threads non-existent. Im trained, a gun instructor, years of law enforcement experience, hunted since i could hold my own bb gun, and can outshoot most of you on here, and to read some jack snif say there is never a good reason to CC, is about a stupid a comment ive read anywhere. Your right, its not for you. But there are those in this world that are capable, and yes, can save the day when things turn sour. Silly boys

Hey sm, if 196 passes on yours, let me know. I want to give him dibs tho since this is his thread.

Guys, i believe he is only stating to protect himself, family, or others from immenent danger. Its called the Castle Doctrine Missouri is a castle doctrine state with a “stand-your-ground” law. The state enacted a castle law in 2007 that removed the duty to retreat for persons who are attacked within their home or vehicle. The new law justifies the use of deadly force when victims reasonably believe their lives to be in danger, and provides them immunity from civil and criminal action.

Was that an internet "forum" tho? ?

Haha. Now lets not get that cut off stuff started here on Stockton. Enough of it on TR. Good luck. The water is up, but so are the fish and the sun. As they say, a day on the water beats a day on the couch. We will look for ya tomorrow.

Just have it tallied to where the gun is visible, and wala, your good to go. No license needed for open carry or in a vehicle.

J, So your statement with DUI being a joke, your opinion is let those that drink "your correct, i do not", let them drive on the roadways that my kids and family use with no recourse? Pretty bold statement. Luckily the law makers dont agree with your mindset. If so i would go on a rampage. Ive arrested many many intoxicated drivers, and can say, with my training and common sense, that i have never, ever, arrested one that was not a hazard to the public. I have called friends, family members, and even transported a few to their residence, instead of arresting them, just to do what was right for the public. Alcohol is a very distructive addiction that ruins many many lives. Most, yes i will say most, issues where law enforcement is involved on a daily basis, has alcohol involved activities. There are those that drink responsibly, but many others that are selfish, and idiots that could care less about their actions while drinking. Ive seen enough of it over the years to form a "professional" opinion.

See lots of it in Az. in recent trips. We were passing Dennys on Campbell last week, and a guy was getting on his Harley with one visibly strapped to his side. I mentioned to my better half that it looked like a cannon mounted to his hip. I like the subtle approach. The less you see or hear of me, the better I am at what i do.

I dont think there is any disagreement about his death being a sad deal. We know he wasnt strapped properly with the PFD, which was a mistake on the trooper, who only had 2 days of water training, as he was a road officer. My stand on this is, as it is with anyone that comes in contact with law enforcement due to something that requires LE to be there, is that if he was not intoxicated "Not wrenches def. of intoxicated", wasnt operating a floating death machine while in that capacity, my guess, on my professional opinion, is that he would have went to bed that evening dreaming of getting drunk the following day. Instead, he CHOSE to drink, he CHOSE to operate a boat after drinking, which led LE to make contact, which led to his death. Another spin, if he knew he was drinking, which obviously he did, and he knew he was operating a boat, which he did,, and he cared about his own life, forget all the others on the water that he could have harmed, then he should have had his own PFD on, which would have prevented the situation. The trooper wouldnt have removed his if he had one on already before contact was made. Yes its sad for his family, but he chose to drink, chose to operate the vessel, and that led to the contact.
