  5. All, since there has been a lot of activity on the Forum recently and many of us are staying away from crowds, I thought it might be a good time to share some preferences about equipment we use. I'm not talking about brands because I don't want this to be a Chevy - Ford topic. Rather I'm wondering if it would be helpful to all if we share our preferences regarding equipment for each type of lure we use. for example, for a Jig & trailer (not a crappie jig) - what is the length of the rod you use (7'6"), what speed reel do you use (8.1.1), what line diameter do you use (17lb) and is it braid, floro or mono (Floro)? and so on with different types of lures that I see everyone mention on this Forum. If you want to participate, open the attached PDF file, print it and fill in the blanks. Write your preferences in the open boxes and snap a picture of your completed spreadsheet, reply to this topic and upload it. Let me know if you can't open it and I can send it to you another way. I'll add up the preferences and identify the most common for each box and publish it by Saturday March 28th. People are doing weird things to pass the time, I just thought we could do something constructive and share preferences. Mike preferences1.pdf
  6. I’ve had 4 or 5 calls this week asking if our tournament is open to anyone. My phone number is listed on the regatta permit. First I tell them there is no entry fee and no money to win, they say thanks and hang up before I can say we cancelled. It’s hilarious cause it happens every year. Guys looking to cash in on a small tournament. Mike
  7. Did your dad pick the 300 yard location? Great day for sure. Congratulations Mike
  8. Dock, those fish have big bellies. Mike
  9. Cheese, the tournament was just canceled. Have to see you on the lake some other time. Mike
  10. Jeff, better to be prudent. Thanks for making a vey tough decision. Mike
  11. All, just a reminder that I’m bringing a 3-burner stove and a pot of chili. If anyone else wants to bring something that needs to be heated there will be 2 open burners. Mike
  12. Terrin, congratulations. Certainly a wet day out there. Mike
  13. All, as a reminder I’m bringing a 3-burner stove and a pot of chili. So if anyone else wants to bringing something that needs to be heated we will have 2 open burners. Mike
  14. Toby, congratulations. Nice day for sure Mike
  15. Bill, good looking healthy fish. It’s always fun fishing with your son, eh? Mike
  16. Bill, great instructions. Thanks a bunch. Mike
  17. Snagged, I agree. This winter with all the grey skies reminds me of Michigan winters without the snow. I’ll take a little of that global warming thing any day now. Mike
  18. Bill, healthy looking fish. Thanks for the information. Mike
  19. Bill, yard work and fishing in the same day. It doesn’t get any better. Mike
  20. Jeff, Nothing wrong with a Ned groove. Nice pictures. Mike
  21. Late winter and early spring weather in MO changes so consistently that it is hard to find a continuous pattern lasting many days in a row. Mike
  22. Randy, I’m bringing a 3-burner stove to keep the chili hot so if anyone else wants to bring something that needs to be heated, this stove will handle it. Mike
  23. Nice pictures of healthy fish. Mike
  24. This discussion surfaces a lot. I agree with Bo on this one. My evidence is the A-rig. No line is more visible than the wires on the A-rig and they don’t seem to affect the fish biting that contraption. Mike
  25. Randy, I see Jeff will bring utensils. If that doesn’t include plates and napkins I have them. I’ll bring some chili for everyone. Mike
