  1. Maybe that will keep the tourist fishermen away for a while. Tell everyone that there are no bass in TR. that can't be bad for the rest of us. Mike

I thought the same thing after the 2012 tornado. they really named the street correctly. Luckily the hose was under construction so it was easy for the constructions crews to re-order all the materials and get it back together. Mike

I'm heading down later today. I have a home off Stormy Point Rd so i hope the winds leave my roof alone. I lost my top floor during the leap day tornado in 2012 so my insurance company would not be happy if it occurred again. lol Thanks for the heads up. Mike
  4. 5bites, I appreciate the offer and will take you up on it. I am interested in opinions from the people who use the products. So I will absorb all I can. Hopefully I'll be putting in on Saturday morning at KC INN and stay on points and secondary points. I'll be in the rajun cagin with the 150 Johnson. Mike
  5. My boat and electronics are so old that in dash is an old round depth sounder and up front is an eagle. I am looking at something in the $500 - $700 range for up front. I will take my time to research and gather opinions from the forum. Mike
  6. Thanks for all of the opinions. I think i might just upgrade my electronics it is easier to fish at the same time I am watching the screen. Hopefully i can get out Saturday morning and post a report around the dam. Mike
  7. I have an opportunity to obtain an Aqua-Vu 5 with DVR underwater camera and I wonder if any other anglers have used this camera or a similar one on TR? I would be interested in hearing your opinions. Mike
  8. was that your dock sitting by itself with the bass boat and the pontoon and jet ski? Mike
  9. We were in the same situation last year. We hired a guide for a full day. There are plenty of guides here on this forum. It will be money well spent. you not only get to catch fish, but you get to ask questions and really get an education about TR from someone who fishes it for a living. It will make the rest of your week a much better experience. IMHO Mike
  10. Steve, actually the short cove on the west right before heading into Indian Point. But with the water rise and beginning to fall it is a guess what you will have there. Mike

    Beardsley 6/19

That's exactly what Abkeenan said. He made me promise to c&r or I wasn't allowed back in. Lol Mike
  12. Went out today around noon. Fished the points in Beardsley. WT was only 79.2. Water was up in the trees and bushes. It was windy so pretty hard to fish the Ned but managed a couple short SM on a pbj 1/8 head. Around 2:30 wind slowed to a nice breeze and saw plenty of fish suspended in 5-10' range and deep at 20+ range. Caught 3 keeper LM on a 10" bulk/purple worm and 1 keeper LM on a purple/white double willow leaf spinnerbait. Sun came out and we headed to the ramp to avoid the pontoons pulling tubers. After spending the last few days inside it was a good few hours. Didn't catch a lot but the quality was good today. Heading to the flats outside cricket creek in the morning unless the forest is floating by. Mike
  13. Awesome pics. Nice trip. White spoons, eh? Who would have thought? As I've said before this forum is very educational. Thanks for the info. Mike
  14. Congratulations on a job well done to both father and son. A freshman wow! Remember that name it won't be the last time we hear it. And a polite teen also. Dad, you raised him right. Mike
  15. It was a Shakespeare that I won as an attendance prize in a BNSF railroader's tourney about 5 years ago. My birthday and Father's Day are both this weekend so I will replace it. We saw bass on beds behind a few other docks also. I agree that bass spawn over a long period of time and certainly into June. This forum is so educational. Mike
  16. Thx dave, I'll give the JB weld a try. That keeper wouldn't let go of one of your jig heads no matter how much time I gave him. Mike
  17. We launched at 6am. Started on the flat next to HWY 13 and fished all the way to past the big boat docks. No TW bite at all. Started catching them on the pbj and CA craw Ned 1/8 head. Got into a mess of them at the back corner of one of the docks. Caught SM & KY spotted bass. Wound up with 22 but only 2 keepers. Went around the point and saw beds behind the next set of docks. Threw a frog from far away and saw 5 nice keepers both SM & KY chase but no takers. Threw the Ned and the smaller ones got to it first. Took out at 9. All in all it was a good morning until I broke my spinning reel setting the hook. The reel part that attaches to the rod broke in ttwo. Here I am with my rod under my arm, and reeling in a keeper SM with the reel in my hand and turning the handle with the other hand. I couldn't stop laughing. But at least now I know what my Father's Day gift will be. Lol Mike
  18. Nice report. Way to give credit when credit is due. Nice picture. Mike
  19. Well his plan worked. I fell for it. Lol Mike
  20. We started about 5:45am inside the cove next to Indian Point. We fished until 9:30 when the boats came out. Caught 25 total. 18 of which were SM under 10". Boy this has been a good spawn for the SM!!! Had 2 keeper SM (attached picture of biggest), 1 keeper LM right at 15" and a keeper spot. Keepers all came after 8am. 2 off front corners of docks on TW popper. SM keeper came on the CA craw Ned. WT was 81.3. While the small ones were really small, they kept us busy. Lots of fun. MIke

  22. We launched at Moonshine around 7:30pm Saturday night. Fished the point on the left at the entrance to The Chateau's cove. Caught 5 SM (one keeper) on a PBJ Ned. One Keeper LM on a crank bait. only fished for an hour and then helped a fellow fisherman who was out of gas. He and his wife and child were out catching gills in a new boat. we towed them into Indian Point cove. I've been there and it was my turn to pay it forward. Thanks to Abkeenan for the tip on fishing that point. Plan to return there for a longer period. By the way when we moved off the point to begin the tow, a bow fishing boat was waiting nearby for us to move. They waited for almost 1/2 hour just floating around until we left. Thanks to them for their courtesy. Mike

    Aunts Creek

Regarding the easier way to keep score....that is the format for the Major League Fishing circuit that KVD is involved with. Everything is video recorded, a marshall/scorer in the boat and they weigh fish immediately and put them back into the water after they agree on the weight. They count all the legal fish they catch. Interesting format. if that was the norm, it would not matter how many tournaments are on a lake every weekend IMO. Mike
  24. Awesome experience!!! Save that pic for show and tell. Next stop BPS for a matching people no princess tackle box. Mike

    Aunts Creek

isn't that a tournament word? lol I think that this series shows how passionate fishermen are about the sport they love. the things we know are that everyone is entitled to their opinion and there is room for all types of fishermen at TR. does anyone know if there is a current bass tagging program at TR? I would be interested in seeing some data about fish caught more than once. Mike
