  1. Dan, sounds like a nice week so far. We were up in Long creek past Cricket creek last weekend and found them in the pockets off the main creek. TW and fluke were doing the trick around wood on gravel banks. How's the water color around Combs ferry? Mike

Nice day on the water. Either that little one was really hungry or really mad!
  3. Nice report and awesome pics.
  4. Awesome time finding those active fish busting shad. I learned a long time ago to always have a top water bait tied on just in case. My go to bait for those times is an old cotton Cordell crazy shad. Props on both ends. It has caught so many fish that the chrome finish is just about gone. You just can't cast fast enough and you know it will be gone soon. Good looking pics.

I totally agree about the guide service. I booked Brian Snowden last April and while the fishing was good I picked his brain all day about the different seasons and locating fish. It helped me with my approach.
  6. Put in at cricket creek around 7 am and fished til noon. WT 65 everywhere to Yocum creek. Great water color. Caught 20 with 8 keepers. Best 5 about 13lbs. Great top water bite on spook, buzz bait and frog. Also a good fluke bite. Lots of boats up there but we concentrated on back of pockets and very shallow gravel next to wood. Great day to be out.
  7. As I posted last week from Jake Creek about my first Ned catch, this weekend I am gonna head to Long Creek and was wondering if anyone has any information on the WT or conditions up there. I normally start around Cricket Creek and eventually head into Yocum. Last year at this time it was a pretty good spinner bait bite in early May. If there is no news, I guess I will give a report tomorrow night. Hopefully with pics of more than just water. Conditions seem right to head that way. Good luck to everyone.
  8. No one knows what the Corp will do, including their own staff. The comment period has been extended to May 1st. Everyone should take the opportunity to voice an opinion on the Corp's website. Public opinions just might get their attention.
  9. I joined this forum about a month ago. I have been a lurker because I told myself I would not post until I caught a fish on the Ned. Well yesterday I finally caught one as you can see. (I hope I posted it right) Not a lot of size but on the 6# line and light spinning gear it felt like a monster. I want to thank everyone for their posts. Since I am only a weekender until I retire in a couple of years, your posts keep me up to date on the current conditions. Yesterday I put in at Moonshine ramp and had plans to go to Cow Creek. When I turned the corner by Indian Point, the wind was telling me to go to Jake Creek instead. Whew it was blowing straight down the channel. Every point in Jake Creek had at least one boat camped on it. So I went to the cove past Rocklane Marina and started there. WT was 59. Dave sent me some heads and I had to use the 1/8 because of the wind. Hard to fish those things in the wind as many of you have pointed out. I caught fish on the Ned in the trees in about 10 fow. Was also throwing a square bill and had many followers but no takers. Again, I want to thank everyone who posts a report and although this is my first post it will not be my last. Mike
