  1. .....or bolted on motors with portable tanks as in smaller Trackers. These portable tanks must be removed for filling by state law. A longer hose would allow for that without disconnecting, but not being able to disconnect from the engine without tools? Seems problematic.
  2. Hell just let him wear draw string pajamas all the time. Half the people in walmart are wearing those anyway. Went to a new restaurant over in Nevada few years back. About done eating when the owner/chef came out to see how we enjoyed our meal. I looked up and saw this fat dirty slob with those "jams" on and his hand down in there scratching himself... Didn't go back there.
  3. The quick connect is for switching tanks.........Guess a guy could just carry extra gas in a mower type can. Those are another story also. But I was curious about the Atwood fuel demand valve: http://www.attwoodmarine.com/store/product/portable-fuel/fuel-demand-valve Without that the tank expands to the point of losing it's shape. ( I beat one back into shape with a rubber mallet! ) It's very easy to disable the one way vent in the cap, but then it will suck in air and moisture. What is the best course of action other than trying to find a steel tank?
  4. My Tracker from last year had one cheap tank and an Atwood relief valve. The tank didn't seem to swell much but the quick connect is now leaking at the ball valve. I bought another tank and relief valve this year so will have spares. When checking the fuel pickup this spring (came loose so I installed a clamp) I find the tank has quite a bit of dirt in the bottom. Of course it must be from that valve. Now BassPro no longer sells the valve and they were closing them out on Amazon. Is there something else replacing that system?
  5. My Sceptres from Tracker take up way less room when they are flat...
  6. Shower. As hot as you can stand it. Knocks chiggers for most of the day. Do it again as needed.
  7. Is that really a buffalo? I didn't think people usually caught them. But come to think of it, believe I read that in some MDC publication. I'd like a mess of bluegills myself!
  8. Kinda normal for spring. Heard a rumor they were going to try and keep the lake around a foot above normal this year. Guess that would depend on the rains we get or don't get.
  9. I feel there is a punch line yet to fall... Hope so. I have'nt even uncovered the boat yet. I remember all the hours spent in 40ish water last spring. Never caught anything until the mid 50's. Soon. Very soon.
  10. Wow. Looked into one of those motors and accoutrements. My wife cannot afford it.
  11. Thanks. I'm gonna drag the boat south one day! I don't know if there is more action down there or just more forum users using that side of the lake.
  12. Say, where did you get the minnows this early?
  13. Growing up in Northwestern Mo we heard tails of white runs. Guy owned a resort on LOZ and would call Dad when they started. We'd pile into the car with the 10 horse Johnson, a tent and all our gear and race down there. "You just missed 'em by about a hour." I've caught them over the years, but never saw the bare hook catching run. I'd probably freeze up... Worked with a guy who admitted to seeing his first deer and stood there jacking every shell through his 30-30 without firing a shot. I wonder what the fishing equivalent to that would be? I need to be mentally prepared.
  14. And so it begins.
  15. I got dibs on the first 11.75 inch one!!!!!!!!!!

    Deep fish

Something else needed for the arsenal then. Just seems hard to get deep in my little alum boat blowing across the lake. Got some 2 oz bottom bouncers for crawler rigs. That does it. Straight to the bottom into the first crevice.

    Deep fish

How many pounds of weight does it take to get a hook 70 feet down? Am I missing something?

    Best Excuse

Too darn hot to cut firewood.
  19. Bottom bouncers. That's what I need. Thought these were a decent deal : http://r.ebay.com/tH537l Unless someone has a better source. I sure miss my childhood Western Auto store! Good info, nomolites. Hope you make it back soon.
  20. I happen to be a nutcase and resent this line of reasoning.
  21. Well Wrench, I gave up deer hunting when it became a fad and the city people started messing it up. That being said, a folding stock and 4 sided rail sure ads conveniences I don't have on my Model 70. Easier to get in/out of trees for one thing. A buddy in GA carries a 6.8MM version for wild hogs. They're just nice and compact for walking type hunting. Of course hunting here requires a 10 round clip. I'd take the AR out in weather that would see my wooden guns left safely in the safe, also. It all involves choices and the right to make them IMHO.
  22. Yeah. After I ordered some 🙄 But got some 9's. Needed something to dig a little deeper. We'll see.
  23. Now...what about us old-farts that don't need a fishing license anymore ? No need to apply for the license means you don't need the number to apply. I guess... I get to burn my license in a few months. Might do it on the lake! Not sure when I bought my first. Age 14 was it? Never been checked in all this time. Visited with agents and even had a bass measured once, but never been asked for the permit. All that money wasted!
  24. Thanks! Guess I should get out more.
  25. Anybody found night crawlers for sale around the north side of the lake?
