  1. Mike that is just awesome !!!
  2. WOW ! sounds awesome !
  3. You are fishing an extremely pressured area, and you say "I almost always fish in the summer", both of these make catching fish challenging . My suggestion is to go to "parts less known", more difficult access points, and log jams and brush piles in the river. These areas are places that are hard to reach. I think that is what kayak/canoe fishing is ideal for. Try some smaller moving water too. I know there is a few place around SPFD I grew up there. good luck to you Quick glance t the map near springfield I found this, have you looked at it ? see pic. This is a video of mine, it is a small body of water near me, mainly catch dinks on light tackle, but my heart rate goes down and the cares of life are gone for a moment, if you look there is no one there, and it is in the fall. Try it !
  4. Dang, I think you just need a good trainee ( I know someone 😃), you know someone to give you a day off once in a while. Really though I wish you well !
  5. There was a pretty good walleye bite last year at this time, about 25ft down remember? I would want you to find me a 10# 30" walleye in tablerock just one, live bait is fine. No big deal I really appreciate the info that you post here, if I could swing it I would fish with you, and listen to every word. Not sucking up just thankful. I think a fast action jigging spoon bite is about as fun as it gets, no matter the species.
  6. Floating minnow bucket ??? I have one of these.
  7. Wow I'm bringing mine over, you can do it !
  8. No but it is in the same cove as Rocky branch marina. Just a pea gravel bank, for my old boat a pea gravel bank and a tire is fine. If I had a nice glass boat I probably wouldn't beach it.
  9. Thanks again, everyone. We ended up staying at Tanglewood lodge. It is under new ownership, and they are renovating. The pool is nice, the owners were great to us, and the gravel beach is a good place to park the boat. The updated rooms look nice. These are not fancy rooms, but they do have a stove, sink, and fridge. They were perfect for us. The owners said that they plan on keeping 5 rooms open all winter. If you are more about function and less about fancy and want to spend less than $100 a night this is your place. There is a could thermocline pics, found one place this morning were it was 40ft.
  10. We went with Tanglewood, got the last room ! Thank you all ! I will let you know how we get along.
  11. We are looking for at quick weekend trip on the water at Beaver lake. 2 nights friday the 18 and saturday 19. We would love to be on the water. We don't need anything fancy. Idea's anyone ? Thanks
  12. Spooned up 2 walleye right at noon in 15ft of water. Number 2 came unbuttoned on the lift (dumb move) looked to be about the same length. If you know this bank that is the spot.😁 Binks 1/2 oz silver. These are my 1st Walleye from Beaver lake. Going again in the morning😁
  13. Any one ever try those dissolved oxygen meter/gauge thingys ? I have always wondered about that when they have to pull so much water.
  14. Oh yeah, I forgot, thanks !
  15. For me yes, and invisibility.
  16. That's awesome ! I tried to do that google measurement thing too, I use it for shooting coyotes near the house, but couldn't get it to work, on my pc this time. Anyway thanks, I am still very new at this it sounds like 40 to 50 is a normal thing with the right bait.
  17. That is where braid shines you can feel alot ! I can feel a 1/2 spoon flutter down on a long cast. If there is a bunch of wind you you have to watch the line as the spoon goes down, but if a fish hits it you know quickly. Cons: it blows in the wind some, you have to have cutters. Palomar knot is a must. Price, having to tie a leader, it will cut your hand if you try to brake it. Pros: No stretch, great sensitivity, it's like having a new rig, it lasts a long time, if you don't store it in the sun. Really good hook sets. I buy the coated stuff, I have tried at least 6 different brands. I like the spiderwire stealth braid. They do not give me money to say that, I wish they would. I use it on everything to spite the cons. Hope that helps
  18. I can get more that 60 yards with this rig, but only 10lb braid 1/2oz weight. 6'6" medium fast lighting rod lews tournament ts200. I wonder if I can play a striper down on that😁? I never thought about distance until now, just fish.
  19. Not to beat a dead horse, I found this enjoyable.
  20. I found this from 2012
  21. I use braid it holds 150yrs of 20 lb spiderwire stealth.
  22. Thanks to everyone for the input !
