I always thought that I would love to live on the water, I have been on and regularly fished many or all the areas mentioned in this thread (I haven't been to Mc Natt since the flood ) 25 yrs ago I would fish places that you would seldom see anyone, and there was big fish, now not so. I was fishing the bank of spring river, a few miles from my house when a man floated by in a kayak, I asked "Hey where did you put in" (thinking that I might be able to the same some time ) he barked back "Why do you want to know, so you can brake into my truck !" I thought wow, jerk ! Thinking about this, on the way home, he has a point, he didn't know me. I think if I want to live on the water I might just have to dig a pond and settle for that. I don't get why someone would enjoy going to the water or anywhere else, trash it, then think that it will be clean for them next time they visit?? So now that we have discussed the problem, what do we do ?

Nice, great picture ! I see one of those crooked backed walleyes, I caught one once where the tail was turned straight up it was still over 20", it must not affect the health, or ability to feed. I wonder what causes that ? I have caught at least 2 like that both were larger.

You did good, very nice !

Best answer yet, add a 1/2 oz silver Binks pro spoon. Try casting it (many people don't cast them) but try it on a point in the morning. Cast it up in the shallow work it out into 25 or 30ft of water. Pick it up fast, drop it on slack line until it stops, while it falls reel the slack out, repeat, until you get it under the boat, bounce it under the boat a couple times, then cast again. If you are not getting hung up, you are not doing it right. If you find that this works, don't take pictures until it is over (usually about 10min). One thing don't be afraid to use an off set worm hook on your drop shot.

I hear you but I would still eat the one on the grass, I mean if that guy didn't want it

Nice, I have learned a lot !

It's about the money, but hey if I were hungry I might eat them, so what can I say. Thick juicy bass filets, yum😜

That's really amazing ! I wonder what the magic bait was ? I also wonder if the fish all survived as specially the one in the grass? It is still amazing ! There are huge schools of shad everywhere, it is a wonder any of us can catch anything.

Thanks after having my self esteem trodden over on Beaver, I thought that I might try to find it again on Stockton. I feel better about myself now😁, no therapy needed.

Had to work for it, tried a little of everything, dropshot trick worm 25ft deep on a point at 4pm brought up a nice smallmouth 3lb 9oz 18" long. Tried the old erie dearie, at about the same depth to produce a 21.5 inch walleye. Got checked by the game warden (very nice guy ) dropped the erie dearie down just after he left us, with the warden still in sight, I just knew it was a BIG walleye nope...catfish. Still hunting for some sort of pattern, I tried some long line troll with my new trolling combos, and found this one 12 inch crappie. I did find 4 short eyes and a drum at about 7:30 on a point with the Bink 1/2oz silver spoon, I caught 4 walleye, and one drum in about 5 minutes, it was great ! All fish released and still swim. BEST OF ALL, I SPENT THE WHOLE WEEKEND WITH MY WIFE OF 31 YRS ! GOD IS GOOD !

You are fishing an extremely pressured area, and you say "I almost always fish in the summer", both of these make catching fish challenging . My suggestion is to go to "parts less known", more difficult access points, and log jams and brush piles in the river. These areas are places that are hard to reach. I think that is what kayak/canoe fishing is ideal for. Try some smaller moving water too. I know there is a few place around SPFD I grew up there. good luck to you Quick glance t the map near springfield I found this, have you looked at it ? see pic. This is a video of mine, it is a small body of water near me, mainly catch dinks on light tackle, but my heart rate goes down and the cares of life are gone for a moment, if you look there is no one there, and it is in the fall. Try it !

Shell Knob Report-Question for the Group

There was a pretty good walleye bite last year at this time, about 25ft down remember? I would want you to find me a 10# 30" walleye in tablerock just one, live bait is fine. No big deal I really appreciate the info that you post here, if I could swing it I would fish with you, and listen to every word. Not sucking up just thankful. I think a fast action jigging spoon bite is about as fun as it gets, no matter the species. -

Turd Polishing
dan hufferd replied to MrGiggles's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Wow I'm bringing mine over, you can do it ! -
No but it is in the same cove as Rocky branch marina. Just a pea gravel bank, for my old boat a pea gravel bank and a tire is fine. If I had a nice glass boat I probably wouldn't beach it.

Thanks again, everyone. We ended up staying at Tanglewood lodge. It is under new ownership, and they are renovating. The pool is nice, the owners were great to us, and the gravel beach is a good place to park the boat. The updated rooms look nice. These are not fancy rooms, but they do have a stove, sink, and fridge. They were perfect for us. The owners said that they plan on keeping 5 rooms open all winter. If you are more about function and less about fancy and want to spend less than $100 a night this is your place. There is a could thermocline pics, found one place this morning were it was 40ft.

We went with Tanglewood, got the last room ! Thank you all ! I will let you know how we get along.
