  1. I have a friend on you tube who is encouraging me to get some footage of my technique. I was showing my nephews how to cast the spoon, I like it better than just vertical due to the area that I can cover. 3 guys in a boat working together can cover a 50 yrd + fan shaped area with out moving the boat. The hook up is a blast !
  2. looking for a good used lowrance hds
  3. You are right, but it was a frenzy near the boat, I was able to see several nice fish hitting schools of fry, I have a few ideas for the next trip.
  4. I am ready ! I am really hung up on that technique lately, I don't know why it is so appealing to me. I think it is the expectation of that hook up. Have you ever tried the Eire Dearie? I have a friend who suggested that I try them. I ordered some, I will share.
  5. 20.25" Didn't get the weight probably in the 2.5 lb range the others were 16 to 16.5.
  6. Outstanding !
  7. I fished for a couple hours with my nephews. Here are a couple clips of the results of our "How to throw a spoon at walleye on a hot day" lesson. We also caught bass, and whites in the same area. The bite was over around 10 am so we turned into the people fisherman hate "tubers" We stayed at Southwinds Motel, and fished Bink's spoons exclusively. We had a lot of fun I really enjoyed it !
  8. Very nice ! Thank you for sharing so much info !!
  9. No I cast them, I hope to do a tutorial on casting the spoon. I do not tip it with anything.
  10. Awesome ! Thanks for sharing. For me walleye are good at day light until 10am and then nothing, but I did not troll or stroll, just spoon. I did a little teaching on the joy of spooning (insert joke here) with my nephews. We caught a few shorts and 3 keepers one just over 20" and never moved the boat for our honey hole. We were back to the Southwinds by 10 am. Not to bad for a bunch of beginners like us.
  11. It was about a normal Stockton hot day, a bunch of very hungry small bass, a couple cat fish, drum, and this 18" walleye. All were caught on this Bink's 1/2 oz spoon.
  12. Listen to him, he knows everything ! He just needs to throw a Bink's spoon when the bounce doesn't work
  13. I agree with all these guys, these comments represent several boat loads of fish that have been caught using this technique. I am sure this way of fishing was developed to be able to follow the contour of the bottom. This technique usually requires constant adjustments, this is why most of us fish one rod per person. If you fish flats you might be able to get away with two rods, because the depth doesn't vary that much. Good luck
  14. I go as slow as possible, I usually use one rod because I am trying to stay as close to the bottom as possible, I guess you could put one higher in the water and run one close to the bottom at the same time. I like to stay 1 mph or less. I never drag the bouncer I just use it to check the distance to the bottom. Really it is whatever works for you and your setup.
  15. Crappie trolling is not as good as it was last year. I have about quit trolling for anything. If the wind kicks up it might get good??
  16. That is what I am using, Love them, I have several.
  17. Good luck hope to see some awesome fish pic's
  18. I have a 75 hp 2 stroke merc with a happy troller flap, I only use 91 with no ethanol. I went from 3 mph to 0.6 at the lowest idle. I can run a few more "R's" and get the 1.2 to 1.7 mph that I was looking for. For me it was the best alternative. I have a friend that uses drift socks and loves them, I figured that I would get them hung on a tree or rock?? Note: when the wind is at your back you get to breath that nice 2 stroke exhaust all day, that is not fun.
  19. I have learned a bunch from this guy, and he fishes the lake that you are talking about. I am glad that Bink's is checking our posts they make a great product that really works. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2bkwHh-vncRuMMGLKkwXcg
  20. Yes I found me a catfish hole ! He hit that jig like a ton of bricks.
  21. Well I got rained out at Tablerock, so I loaded the boat and went to Stockton, after all it's my day off and there is fish to catch. I didn't do well, there were however plenty of drum to catch. I caught around 10, it was enough for me to think about making some cut bait.
  22. I was there it was slow, it was like revenge of the drum. I think the fish take turns feeding. Some go to dinner and back up from the table and let others feed.
  23. I haven't went for chanterelles in a while I might have to give it a go. Thanks for the report
  24. I have tried them and caught fish on them through out the year, but I cut the front hook off, I also have lost everyone of them due to snags, I went to the shiver minnow, the lipless cranks work well too. Thank you for the suggestion
