  1. Maybe it lost something in translation because you typed it, instead of telling it in person? Either way you better keep your day job. SIO3
  2. Good luck. I tried to hook up a flyfishing trip when I went there many years ago. Never did find anything that looked legit. Ended up on a deep sea charter and had a blast catching mahi mahi, tuna and one small swordfish. I saw a show once about bonefishing in Hawaii but it didn't look to be as reliable as the Bahamas. There really weren't any flats like in the Carribean. If you go, post up a report. I'd like to hear how you did. With cool pics too. SIO3
  3. Spinnerbait! I'll try a buzzbait too. I love Sunnen Lake. SIO3
  4. He's around boys. I saw him at Big Louie's in the summer. He was gittin his butt kicked by the manager after messin somethin up at Chicken Bones Party Bar and Grill. He was telling the guy to give him another chance and that he could help out at The Skin City Tattoo Shop. Next I saw him about a month ago at Spankies after fishing Crane Creek. We had a couple beers and he said he liked Spanks because they have a swingset out front for his kids to play on while he watches the entertainment. SIO3
  5. MDC will stock your lake for free but you do not have to open it up for the public once a year. There was a complete article about that in the MO Conservation Magazine a while back. The MDC just wants you to share your lake or pond with family and friends but there is no official rule about it. SIO3
  6. Thanks Phil; After reading the other threads and looking at the pics I wouldn't think O2 would be a problem. That water coming over the top looks like it's plenty aerated. I came down a few years ago when it was coming over the top and we drifted white jigs and just pounded em. Man!!! I wish I could come down and fish. SIO3
  7. Any pics???? For us guys that aren't in the area. SIO3
  8. Took me straight to the judge. He said if I left town right away and didn't come back he wouldn't do anything. I'm not sure the guy was even a judge, but I left anyway. They escorted me up the road to 65. I kind of felt like a visiting dignitary. Obama maybe. SIO3
  9. No argument here Wayne, just passing on what I got from davy about the knot. I agree that braid is an altogether different animal, and I love it on baitcasters. BTW Wayne I was arrested in Rockaway once a long time ago. SIO3
  10. Good post DaddyO I agree, use whatever you like. The Davy knot has worked for me for years. Davy says the knot is intended for small hooks and small line size. He said that he wouldn't even use it on size 12 flies or larger unless the line size increased accordingly. Even then it's not the best knot for those sizes. Two things he told me about the knot. Use it for small flies and there is almost no waste from cutting off the tag end. That small size is critical when using size 16 and smaller flys. If tied correctly, the knot will slide down and leave almost no tag. That's a big deal for me when using flourocarbon at $10 a spool. SIO3
  11. Feathercraft or Tommy Hargroves. SIO3
  12. Congrats Terry!!!!!!!!! SIO3
  13. Bennett Springs is quite a bit closer than the 11point isn't it? Plus you have the Niangua there also. SIO3
  14. I have to respectfully disagree with you a little Laker67. I know who you are and your accomplishment, but I'll wade in here. You said "When an angler hooks into a monster fish, the odds are definitely in the fish's favor. If the angler wins, I'm not sure you should diminish his feat of accomplishment. While I agree that a monster fish hooked on relatively light tackle, the odds favor the fish. But I used to watch ole timers at Taney, before the reg changes, haul big trout out using treble hooks, 25lb test line and globs of night crawlers. The odds were definitely in the fisherman's favor in that case. I've heard, but can't confirm, that the brothers in this story use similar tactics of heavy line. Once hooked there is little chance of escape under those conditions. Okay I'll take my licks now . SIO3
  15. Whoever told you shotguns for home defense is illegal is dead wrong. They are legal and probably the best for that purpose. You don't need pinpoint accuracy while half asleep and they don't penetrate walls very well. That way, you won't hurt innocent people on the other side of walls or in the next house. This info brought to you by a citizen of the deadliest city in America. Good ole St. Lou. SIO3
  16. Rim Shoals Resort Resort is great! Talk to Gary there he'll put you on fish along with a nice cabin. SIO3
  17. Welcome Max! SIO3
  18. I smell what you're steppin in.
  19. I wish I would have missed this whole thread.
  20. I want to take my family to Yellowstone next summer and I'm planning the trip now. I want to hit the park to sight see and fly-fish the popular spots. Any help about where to stay and what to do would be great. Thinking about flying out there but don't know much about that either, Fire away my friends, I'm taking notes. SIO3
  21. You got that right Gene!! SIO3
  22. My buddy scouted our sunflower fields yesterday and saw no birds at all. We're still expecting a good hunt though. SIO3
  23. I'm going!!! Thousands here in St. Charles County. The river bottoms are thick with them this year. SIO3
  24. Headed down this morning for the weekend and it doesn't look good. We've planned this trip for 2 months with the family and it looks like they are generating. It's been off every morning till noon for a month but now they are running it. I guess I'll try something else. Your idea works if you live close by, Roundboy. I appreciate it. But when you have to plan a month or two out and drive 4 hours, those two avenues just don't do anything for me. It is either on or off when I get there. Don't you just love this club! SIO3
