  1. Did you get a bunch of rain last night Phil? SIO3
  2. Thanks Vanven, I've fished RR and was looking for something other than trout park. Been to Crane also. I was going to take Flysmaillies advice and float the James with James River Outfitters. Kerr to Galena. But with the rain it looks like the river shot up. I haven't given up on it though. Message sent DT. Thanks again, SIO3
  3. TTT = To the top Same as a bump LOL = laugh out loud SIO3
  4. That's exactly where it was Eric. I keep telling people there are no fish at Busch. I voted yes to every question but I wouldn't call unless I was positive. An 11.75 inch trout is hard to eyeball at 50 feet. Now a 16 inch fish is easy. Phil, funny how he could cuss at me in english just fine after getting the ticket. Snagged
  5. I voted yes every time. And I will talk to the people first to see what's up. I told a guy at Taney that was rigging up rods for his kids with powerbait in the trophy area. He said he had no idea of the regs and starting packing up. His wife thanked me and I told them to go to Cooper creek and fish there. I also had the pleasure of confronting 3 asians keeping small bass who claimed they didn't speak english. Not just a couple small bass but many, many small bass. I saw them again the next day and made the call. Then I stood there and watched them get a ticket so they knew who called. There is no reason to skirt the rules. Snagged
  6. I'm coming down next week with my family and I hope they don't generate. If they do, what would you recommend as an alternative? I don't have a boat. I was hoping for some ideas about small creeks for smallies or something like that. Maybe the James River? I CnR everything. Thanks in advance, SIO3
  7. Dano52 said, "I went up to Bass pro shops and asked the gentleman behind the desk in the trout room for some good lures and advice to trout fishing...the basics if you will..." There's your mistake. You should have gone to the local fly shop at RR. Next time hit the local shop and let them look at your setup and sell you the latest "hot" fly. Good luck next time. SIO3
  8. Were they accessible from shore?
  9. When they're schooled up like that they will take flies. Wht/chart, blu/wht and all white closers work well. Better use at least an 8 weight though. I prefer a 9 weight and a tapered leader down to 10lb test. Snagged
  10. Thanks Al I'll look into those options. Thanks everybody.
  11. I don't know what price range are looking at but Dockers Inn up the road is clean and reasonable. We stay there in the winter for $27 per night per guy. Obviuosly in the summer it's probably around $60 per night, http://www.dockersinn.com/ If you want cheaper that place across from the State Park is okay at $40 a night I think. http://parkviewlodging.com/ Above $60 a night you can stay just about anywhere you want. Point Royal right there at probably $75 a night. Hope this helps. I hate seeing a St. Charles County brother left out. SIO3
  12. That is very cool! I've been telling friends about seeing them at Rim Shoals on The White for years. They were always running around not in a tree. Sounds like decent fishing though. SIO3
  13. I was trying to get across that the process, even when done to standard operating procedures, is a disaster to the environment. Only half of the "produced" water comes back up. The other half, with the 596 chemicals stays in the ground. This shouldn't be happening until they comply with the clean water act. SIO3
  14. Thanks everybody. I'll look into the Huzzah and Courtois trip Pat. That sounds like what we are looking for. Thanks. I know what you mean Al. I'm thinking Tuesday or Wednesday after the fourth. My wife and I used to float 4 or 5 times a year but we quit after a bunch of incidents you described. Our last trip was horible. We were getting bullied by some drunk kids and I couldn't take it anymore. I had a few M-80's with me and started throwing them in the river. The kids backed off and went and told the authorities. Luckily we just blended in with a big crowd at the ramp and walked right past the drunken idiots to our car and drove away. My wife's still mad about it and it was 7 or 8 years ago. I'll let you guys know how it goes. SIO3
  15. I tried last year and never got to it. Either the water was high or we couldn't go. I'm determined to take my 11 year old daughter floating and fishing. We'll go during the week and we want a short float with decent fishing. We spinfish with soft plastics and C n R. We live in St. charles and want something relatively close. Fire away! Thanks, SIO3
  16. "And as Al said, if the state has only a handful of inspectors for potentially thousands of wells, you can see how we'd loose." What would an inspector do anyway? Once that stuff is injected down the hole it's basically a mute point to make sure they doing it right. They don't have to answer to anyone anyway thanks to Busch and Cheney. SIO3
  17. I saw that show Al. I posted a link to it over on John Wilson's website and it hasn't gotten even one response. They were trying to put one of these at Cowshoals on the Little Red but the community came together to fight it. http://flyfishingarkansasandmissouri.yuku.com/topic/6159 The corporate greed in this country is going to ruin our environment. 18. 44 to 63 south to 160 west out of West Plains.
  19. I'm guessing FC=Feather Craft SIO3
  20. I actually opened the thread thinking it was something different. Tonight we have an event called "Savor, taste of St Peters". Pay your $20 and taste the offerings of more than 35 local resturants. Plus the local brew houses and wineries provide all you can drink. Live music tops it all off. Well, that and a good cigar while girl-watching. It's the best deal in town for a 20 spot. We don't have waves nearly that big though. SIO3
  21. I thought nobody went there after they found high concentrations of do-do in the water? I heard the browns were biting. SIO3
  22. That is an awesome display of power and technology! If you live anywhere near there do not miss the chance to see them. They have been in St Louis every other year forever. Last year they enlarged the St Louis County airport and the show won't happen anymore. If I wasn't busy I would take the family there for sure. SIO3
  23. Bummer about the ticket. How was the fishing? Snagged
  24. I know Gary and have used the taxi for years. Not only put you in an area that has fish but recommend flies to use. He'll also tell you what to expect as far as generation. Call before you drive over to make sure someone is around to take you. The Spring is canoe friendly but I believe during the summer it's a party mecca. Not a good place for families. At least that's what I heard and maybe someone else can confirm or deny that. It takes about an hour to drive there from Quarry Park. Don't speed, they patrol the road over there pretty heavily.
