  1. Good point 57. Some people think GM food is doing just that. Reducing the population. SIO3
  2. They are talking about EATING them Chief. SIO3
  3. Eating GM food (plant or animal) has been linked to many health problems in humans. That's why European country's have put a moratorium on new GM products for human consumption. This from The Center for Food Safety: "A number of studies over the past decade have revealed that genetically engineered foods can pose serious risks to humans, domesticated animals, wildlife and the environment. Human health effects can include higher risks of toxicity, allergenicity, antibiotic resistance, immune-suppression and cancer. As for environmental impacts, the use of genetic engineering in agriculture could lead to uncontrolled biological pollution, threatening numerous microbial, plant and animal species with extinction, and the potential contamination of non-genetically engineered life forms with novel and possibly hazardous genetic material." If I could avoid GM products for me and my family I would. We have no idea the outcome and it's all for profit, as usual. SIO3
  4. Sorry Chief, that was meant as a dig on flytyer. Since he has a such a long drive SIO3
  5. I might have to try and make it this time. Do you have anything closer to St Louis though, so my drive isn't too far? SIO3
  6. Thank Flytyer for the photos. How are you Pat?
  7. Thanks for posting the pics FT57! That's neat how you photoshop out my big fish and replace them with those little ones. We had a very good time. Next time we'll go smally fishing and you can school me. Good call Dallas, I see the you notice the finer details to flesh out our secret location. I drove back last night just in time for dinner and an SA Octoberfest. Oh, and the inlaws are gone!!! Woohoo!!! SIO3
  8. Don't even think those thoughts. I'd go nuts!!
  9. My in-laws always tell everyone, "Man he must really love Arkansas because every time we come over that's where he's going" I think I'm headed to MH in the morning. SIO3
  10. Thanks Stlfisher. I was kind of hoping for some tail water action. But when my mother in law gets here I'll change that tune in second. SIO3
  11. It's not the fishing in the rain, which I don't mind, it's when we get so much it blows out the rivers and raises the lake levels. Then they generate around the clock and the streams and rivers in the ozarks get blown out. I had two smallmouth trips planned this summer and both got blown out. I haven't given up totally, yet. SIO3
  12. Well I'm all packed up and NOT going. I've been rained out of two trips this year already. I'll see how it looks later today and I might drive down tomorrow morning. I hope the lake levels don't jump so high they fire up round the clock generation. SIO3
  13. Yeah I tent camp at Norfork dam so I can fish right there in the morning. They have electric, privies and the guy up the road sells wood. I'll PM you tomorrow before I leave. Maybe trout fish the Norfork or White in the morning and go over to Crooked in the afternoon? Snagged
  14. I mainly come down to flyfish for trout but I also like to bass fish with conventional tackle. I've always wanted to fish one of those rivers for smallies if that's what you have in mind. Just never really persued it. SIO3
  15. Too bad JDC, I won't fish Sunday. I have to drive home. Maybe next time? At this point I'm planning on Mountain Home. We'll see what the rain does. SIO3
  16. It might not ruin the brown run in October but it's certainly trying to shoot a hole in my weekend. SIO3
  17. Will do Flytyer! Thanks. Glad to hear the rain today is light. I'll know Thursday what me schedule is. SIO3
  18. Well I have the weekend off to fish and I'm either heading to Mountain Home or Taney. MH is my first choice but they are getting some rain and I'd like to wade. I'm going to camp at Norfork if in MH or The State Park if I go to Taney. I can't find anybody that can get away so I'll be a loner mission. Is anybody going to be around. Do some fishing, maybe have a beer in the evening? Post up boys. SIO3
  19. I thought the longest was the shuffling thread. Sorry.
  20. Very cool Doug!! And I don't even have a bass boat. I think you did a great job on your experiment. Just like a good chemistry experiment, simple with easily documented results. And it paid off. SIO3
  21. Phil must be in Alaska!! And the substitute teacher is on a smoke break. Probably a cigar. SIO3
  22. That's the hatch we always thought of when refering to white flies on the Meramec. We hit it one time about 7 or 8 years ago in January when it was snowing. The flies were very small and the trout went nuts over them. It was one of those typical winter days when everything was either grey, black or white. If your fly got past a feeding trout it would rise up and turn upside down to get them. Size 12 huh? Cool! SIO3
  23. I'll tell you why I clam up. For about 20 years a couple buddies and I knew about a very good bass lake was public, but not well known. We would routinely catch fish up to 8lbs and had many 100 fish days that rarely saw any fish under 2lbs. Then the internet came to town and the lake was listed on the web. The next trip to the lake I found an old timer with a cooler of large fish and one fish in perticular laying in the gravel road. It was clearly close to 8lbs. He says to us "man I just found out about this place from my son and it's great. Caught em all on goldfish and I'm mounting that big one there and eating the rest tomight. Tomorrow I'm bringing the boys back for this!!" Fast forward a year and the place has been fished out and to make matters worse, it's trashed. The following spring we went back as usual and there were 9 boats on a 45 acre lake. All we caught were dinks. Haven't been back in 3 years. Of course now the lake has of all things, a slot limit. What a joke. SIO3 There are no fish at Busch either!
  24. You guys just aren't changing rigs enough. SIO3
