  1. We have been going to Destin for years and the best fishing to be had is walking the beach at first light and catching lady fish. They are in the tarpon family and they cruise the beaches early chasing bait fish. You can cast silver spoons or fly fish for them. It's critical to go at first light. If you see bait showers just cast in the area. When hooked they are very acrobatic. You can also bait fish early for redfish and small sharks (black tip and bonnet heads) in the surf, and I mean big redfish. Frozen cigar minnows work best. Sand fleas for pompano can get you a great meal on a light spinning rod. I'm sure at last light the bite is the same but we are at dinner or happy hour then. Bait fishing at night is also very good for reds and sharks. Call this shop when you go down there and they will give you the current conditions and techniques. http://www.halfhitch.com/destinRptdefault.asp Snagged
  2. Thanks Terry, I was hoping you would chime in. We're leaving St Lou today at noon so we might hit The Spring Friday. I've always wanted to go there and this might be the trip. I love Fred's, but we cook out on an open fire all week. Note to self, Lacee at Riverbend. Steaks, ceasar salad and baked potato tonight!! Fish fry with hush puppy's the other nights!! Snagged
  3. Thanks Brian, that's what I'll do if we head over there on a side trip. What access do you like? SIO3
  4. Hey everyone Does anyone have a map of the access points and directions from Mountain Home? Thanks, SIO3
  5. Thanks Leonard. We're coming down in May and staying at Big C. We are putting the older kids (mid to late 20's) up somewhere else . Was hoping to get them as close as possible without staying at Big C. SIO3
  6. Anybody know of a hotel near Big Cedar? Or maybe between Big C and Holister? I seem to remember one near The South Town shopping area but can't remember the name. The closer to Big C the better. As always, thanks in advance. SIO3
  7. We just angle the trailer downstream. If you have room, that is. Notice my disclaimer!!! Snagged
  8. Stillwater resort on Indian Point. Snagged

  10. Anybody know how to tie a Blowfly? I think it's a shad pattern tied with marabou. Thanks, SIO3
  11. I shot a bunch of clips from a trip to Taney a while a back. Justin playing the guitar and hanging out at night. If you get past the first minute and a half you'll see something other than music. SIO3
  12. A boat would be best down there, but here are a few areas to try from shore. The Landing parking lot. I saw tons of fish midging down there. Up by Scotty's also. Rockaway beach has a lot of area to fish from shore. Down at the other dam. The name escapes me. Let us know how you do. Snagged
  13. We stayed at Dockers on Green Mountain Dr. 3 guys for $50 a night. And you get breakfast. It's not that far from the State Park in the off season. http://www.dockersinn.com/ SIO3
  14. I'll pass. SIO3
  15. Justin said "There is no way catching a fish can be good for it so if you are truely worried about killing a fish you'd better go golfing." But who is going to regulate protection of the other golfers? Snagged
  16. Can anybody get the charts to load? I've been trying all weekend with no luck. I'm curious what the lake levels are for a future trip. SIO3
  17. I fried some Cajun catfish in the garage on my dual fuel stove while it snowed. She made a salad and risotto. SIO3
  18. The link is 3 posts up. Here it is again. http://news.lilleyslanding.com/winter-trout-tournament-schedule-set
  19. Here you go. http://news.lilleyslanding.com/winter-trout-tournament-schedule-set It's two weeks out, $50 per team and only from 8-4. I can't wait to see this. SIO3
  20. Thanks, RS. I only put on enough to fill a third of the spool, otherwise it's a mess. You don't use a leader except topwater, even in really clear water? What knot do you use to attach the leader to fireline? I used fireline on a spinning rod at a pond that stays pretty muddy and I didn't use a leader. SIO3
  21. RS said "Superline ends every problem associated with them. Line twist, having to re-spool every other day, all that stuff." What do you recommend I try? I've been using Vanish for a couple years and love it. I've stayed away from the lines that are similar to braid because they seem visible to the fish. SIO3
  22. No problem. I only know because I wanted to go myself. Seems early this year, doesn't it? SIO3
  23. So Are you going to fish the Tourney Trav? I'd like to see how well you do. When is the next tourney? SIO3
