  1. Had a great time today! Thank you to Dan for organizing this and for everyone watching kayaks and canoes, shuttling people, and bringing and preparing delicious food! Got on the water about 8 and got done around 1. Water temperature was 76 degrees.
  2. September 21 float works for me. Probably not the camping though.
  3. Hopefully Mr. Bassin4fun is using a good drysuit, PFD, has a ditch bag with him and maybe a backup radio in case the cellphone doesn't work. Utilizing these things will drastically improve your safety in cold water/weather situations. If you search "cold water Chad Hoover" on the youtubes he has some good videos about it.
  4. Outstanding! That had to be awesome on topwater. Congratulations!
  5. The water temp at Southwood Canoe Access which is upstream from Springfield Lake and next to Highway 65 was 62 Saturday morning after the rain.
  6. Way to get out and catch some! Thanks for the report with the water temp👍
  7. I was by there Saturday. What aarchdale@coresleep.com says is true. Steep gravel ramp. Hopefully it gets maintained and/or improved. I know 2 government agencies were fighting over who was going to pay to do it. It's a wonder anything got done.
  8. Great fish!! What did you catch it on?
  9. I was thinking about going up there soon. Thank you for the heads up!
  10. I would also look at the stuff in this link at the top of the James River Forum if you haven't already, the maps in here are better than the one I put in the previous post. Put In and Take Out 1 2 By Bob in MO, June 20, 2016
  11. https://missouricanoe.org/james-river-and-finley-creek/ I don't know if this is the one you were referring to but I hope it helps.
  12. Welcome!!
  13. That's really good for only fishing three hours! Were you fishing from a kayak or the bank? Fished a while ago from the bank with my daughter but we didn't even get a bite.

  15. Not sure how much boat experience you have but I'll throw this out there anyway in case you're completely new to it like I was when I first started. Wear a life jacket. Be wary of the wind and avoid big open water unless there is little wind. Don't anchor in the wind. According to what I've read if the water temperature is below 60 you should wear a drysuit or not go out. Experiment and find out what works good for you as far as where to put your gear. Keep it simple and have fun!
  16. Welcome!!
  17. I went out early Saturday morning July 25 and hooked a fish on my first cast but it got off. I thought to myself that could be a really good sign or the last fish I hook that day. Ended up catching my first one a few casts later. After I caught a couple more in that same area a deer came tramping and blowing through the woods and almost scared me half to death. I ended up catching 5 on the fluke. 1 of them flopped off the board so I didn't get a picture of it. I moved on and threw the frog and caught my first 2 fish on a frog ever. Caught the last fish right before 9 am. My best day ever numbers wise which isn't saying much but I had a pretty awesome morning. All fish caught were released and swam away.
  18. Looks like a nice trip!
  19. Caught this one at a local pond in NW Iowa from the bank. Used a wake style crank bait, spinning gear and 8 lb test mono. Sorry about the goofy photo. I was trying to give a point of reference with my arm. Measured my arm and hand and it was 19 inches. Was fishing with my dad, brothers, uncle and nephews with nightcrawlers and we were getting low on worms so I started using an artificial lure.
  20. Pretty sure he was found downriver of the dam.
  21. Good job and good report!
