Maybe I don't understand affirmative action, but how is it not discrimination? Doesn't it in effect say to the world "we know these people are not capable of competing on their own and we must give them special advantage"? How is giving special advantage treating anyone equally? Why do you keep bringing up skin color? equal treatment would require no mention of color, creed, religion or tribal affiliation, period. Any weighting of qualifications for the above factors is clearly not equal treatment.

Doesn't a person show a bias towards bigotry by mere use of the term "racism"? admission that there are "races" of people points out that there are inherent differences that preclude any attempt to establish any equality, for an apple can never be equal to a peach. Only when terms like race and racism are no longer in use can we as a people begin to lose our bigotries as "tribes". Our government fosters cultural division and ill will by asking on every turn "what race are you?" - the only acceptable answer should be "American" (no hyphen) or "other".

If police sent out a detective team the next day it would accomplish the apprehension and jailing of the criminals without the heat of armed intervention and if the suspect is innocent or guilty can be determined eventually by the courts. 911 dispatch should be reserved for fire and rescue. Dispatching an armed force into a scene where the act may or may not turn out criminal is setting the stage for police escalation. Rethinking a paramilitary police force might be a desirable direction. Currently it seems every patrol believes it is a SWAT team. Disarming patrols might be better long term than defunding them.

The only way I'll eat canned tuna is straight from the can, anything you do to it just makes it taste worse. I would think that have any credibility they would have to lobby the states to pull the license from any cop that gets suspended, historically they fire a cop in a town or county and he/she/it goes straight to the next town or county and is back on the street armed the next week. They won't do that though because the union is there to protect it's members and every single bad cop in the country belongs to the union. The good cops can't or won't buck the union protection of the bad guys, so to any outside observer they all look bad.

For stents, broken rods from dumpsters or creek side are a source. Maybe a cheap kids rod. You can search the web, I don't know of any commercial source off hand. Ask at your local fly shop for a rod builder near you, chances are there is one, most that I have know would do repairs. @MNtransplant If it's clean break with no missing pieces, I'm sure it can be repaired with a stent and an over wrap, that near the tip the inside diameter will be so small that the stent will need to be music wire; and yes some rods you can order a replacement section, I doubt you can on that rod though. Ask the old guys specifically about the catfish holes and the catfish in the river, they seem to like the same water. All the carp I ever caught were on trotline and catfish bait.
