Petition for single point hooks in trophy section

Oh to me it's more tongue and cheek. I don't think either is a good idea. Keep it as is. -

I saw somebody comment on Facebook "if we get this into the regulations, how about we outlaw everybody 12 and over from fishing at the outlets?" Fantastic idea if I ever heard one! -

Back home and back to work after a great trip. Last photo here. Driftless Cafe is a locally sourced restaurant in the area. I had a Wisconsin beef tenderloin, mashed potatoes with local butter and cream, and locally grown kale. It was absolutely phenomenal. I would put it as a must stop if you're anywhere near Viroqua! I think the bourbon was from Kentucky, though.. -
That's not true. Lots of giant, bipedal ape fossils exist.

Oh yea that's a good one. I'll come right out and say it--there's something to it. I saw something in Wyoming when I was 11 and ever since it's been highly intriguing to me.

People need to come to terms that Taneycomo is Missouri's largest trout park. I love the lake to death, and I do my best to take care of any trophy fish I catch, but at the end of the day it's a stocked, non-native fishery. On top of that, it's a flood control body of water. Doesn't mean you have to treat fish poorly or the sport poorly, but it will always be a tailwater providing multiple ways to catch trout and other species. -
March was fun there this year. Those warm days had the caddis going crazy and the trout acting dumb! Glad you caught some!

Probably a very high percentage. And they take pics of fish on the gravel without a net or drag a brown in October across the lake to get a pic. -

Yep! I only got wet when I had to. Simms flyweights and breeze pants from FreeFly made that super easy. (Not sponsored) -

I highly doubt that lol. I agree with @Quillback assessment. You HAVE to fish upstream, or walk away from the stream down a ways then work back up. They see you and book it if you fish down. -

It's a crock. Those who petitioned it 100% treat fish worse than 99% of folks who fish with a jerkbait. -

The weird part about these fish? They couldn't care less about tippet size. I am running 2x to the hopper and 4x to the midge. Makes me wonder why those pellet munchers in Missouri care so dang much.. -

Went back to Bohemian Valley this morning on a different stretch. It did not disappoint. Same flies, but today had many more eats on the Hippie Stomper. I found a deeper hole (probably 4 ft) with a big rock in the shade. Made a perfect drift on the first cast and landed this big boy. I didn't have a tape but roughly guessing based on my net size it was 16-17-inches. Here is what most of the access is like: -

Yep! I will take a pic today but they have ladders at public access points. The DNR pays the farmers/landowners every year to lease out a certain "right of way" by the stream. One area had a sign that said "beware of goats--they can be mean." But I've had zero issues and get this--have seen ZERO other fishermen. It's quite the well-kept secret I suppose. -

This was the access point. Caught one immediately and figured I'd better keep at it. Ended up walking only 2 miles on it, but there was fishable water everywhere. They really liked what they call the ice cream midge up here in size 14. Once I lost all of those I tied on a size 18 rusty midge and I think they liked it even more. This is the Hippie Stomper, which is just a hopper with hackle wrapped on a section of the foam. Easy to tie and floats great. I had countless fish try to eat it but they'd just miss it. They come at it so voraciously--like it was their last meal. I also stuck quite a few that pulled off. I did end up landing 12 on it, though! Stopped along Hwy 14 in Vernon County and saw this. Pretty cool! -

Well today was the day. Hammered the fish from 11am-6pm on a Hippie Stomper and an ice cream midge (pics below). All but two of the fish were in shin deep riffles. Where you thought there should be a fish, there was. I did lose a very nice brook trout about two feet from the net. It was 14-inches I bet. Caught a ton of fish--probably in the 40+ range. Lots of small ones, but I did manage to catch quite a few in the 10-14" range. I ended up catching one I measured at 15-inches. I saw a brown that went 17-inches, too. He didn't want any part of me. Biggest brown: A few of the prettiest ones This is the type of water they really were feeding in. A lot of fish would rise on the hopper but whiff. I'd throw back in and the midge would be eaten immediately. -

Yea I walked 7 miles yesterday and slept so hard I didn't even know it rained..found out quickly very early hah. Oh well, had a great breakfast at the Kickapoo Corner. Lots of classic Wisconsin people in there, too. I heard "oh jeepers!" and "ohh yaaahh" a few times. -

Got a couple inches of rain last night around 1:00 am and everything is blown out. Should be fishable by the evening. Good and bad thing about these little streams, I suppose. Tying up some size 16 Hippie Stompers to pass the time. Cooled down nicely, though. 72 deg now. -

Enjoyed a couple Spotted Cows while under a shade tree on Elk Creek today. Slow fishing tonight. Caught three more browns. Headed up to Coon Valley area tomorrow early. Wish me luck!
