Thanks for the info. Just wasn't sure if there were any areas of the lake prone to really big rollers with ssw wind in the low 20's, that I should avoid. I'll just stay aware! Thanks again!

Heading down for a day trip Monday from kc. Only been to Stockton one other time. I see forecast for wind is about 10mph, gusting to low 20's. SSW direction. Was just curious with a wind forecast like that are there any particular areas of the lake I should avoid? I was planning on fishing essentially North half of the lake from State Park up to the dam. I have a 17 foot deep v aluminum. not too worried about it but just want to take precautions not knowing the lake as I've heard they can get some big waves. Was planning on putting in at Crabtree but thinking perhaps Orleans trail or something on the west side might be better as if it gets too Windy, I could cut over to the west side and fish those areas.

Agree 100% - even though I could have used all this great advice a week ago this was my view Weds morning as I was the only one out there at that time.

Like you, I'm still learning how to fish these Ozark lakes. Sounds like you have had about the same experience I had this week. Threw everything at them with little success. I guess I need to buy more arsenal! I tried but to fish unless I saw fish on finder but even then, they weren't biting. Am thinking I might have been seeing White's but who knows. I need to keep practicing to learn how to fish deep water better. Attached is a screenshot of non cooperating fish!

I haven't. Son did a little bit, but not enough to say anything about it positive or negative. Will probably give that a shot in the morning.

Son and I been fishing out of state Park Marina area last several days. As you might expect, been slow. Going out about 5:15 am till about 9-10 ish. Fish must be still scattered as we've searched with electronics and see isolated fish that don't see to interested in cooperating! Have tried drop shot, jigging spoons for the deeper areas. The only place we saw a small school of fish I managed to get a decent white, but only one (on a white/pink jigging spoon). Worked main lake points and long run outs with no luck. The only semi pattern we out together on one morning was we trolled crawdad color cranks along the banks near the Long points and managed to get 4 smalls and one lm. Caught a couple of small largemouth beating the bank in back of coves. That's about it. More of a negative report but as I said in title, sure beats working! 2 more mornings so will update if anything changes!

Good Intel. Thank you. I thought I'd map a zone that covers no more than 30 minutes to lake and about 15 to towns. Saw some nice new construction near pea ridge golf course. Might be an option. Wasn't sure about air traffic noise from the Rodgers executive airport with possibly being in flight path. Will try to talk to people in that area. Sorry to make a non fishing thread but fishing is the ultimate root of my move! Thanks again. Will check out some of the areas you mentioned

Thanks for info! I know on the map, PC looks good. Just not to familiar with the area. Looks to be some nice housing near golf course. Do you know if you can purchase a private slip if you don't live on lake? Or perhaps easier to rent, if available.

Am likely retiring in 2-3 years and considering moving to the NWA area. Currently live in KC. Have stayed "on" Beaver lake via VRBO, but when factoring in daily life, probably want to be closer to civilization for things such as stores, medical, churches, etc. We have stayed at lost bridge village but am thinking that probably too far out. Will be taking several trips there to explore more, but thought I'd check with this group if they had any general thoughts on living in the bv, Bentonville, Rogers communities regarding access to the lake. I'd assume I would probably be fishing 2-3 times per week. Would prefer to get a boat slip somewhere so I wouldn't have to trailer each time. Is the "commute" to the lake for those areas reasonable or would I be better to look closer, such as pea ridge or prairie Creek area? Thanks in advance for input on areas to explore! Tight lines!

We were lower lake today. Threw everything at them. Only 1 K. Not even a hint of other bite. Water temps 45-48 generally. Found 49 degrees down long Creek arm. Tomorrow will be better I'm sure!

2007 Sylvan Expedition Sport 115 Yamaha 4 str. Ended up getting in Minneapolis via craigslist since weren't very many "walleye" boats in MO for sale.

Went to Stockton for first time last weekend. Ended up getting decent amount of walleye (kept 4 in the 16-18 range for dinner), some short LM, and a few SM - one being my personal best! Mainly fishing main lake points with cranks (flicker and Bandid - shad color), BB/Crawler and jig/minnow vertical. Enjoyed the lake and the "help" I rec'd from reading posts on this site. The number of locations that "look like good spots" is overwhelming on this lake, when fishing for the first time, but my Garmin 73SV led me to some good starting points.
