  1. Bassman, Sure did, in fact I won the small derby with 12.9# limit of Kentucky's. Drop shot and jigs. I've had the pleasure boaters idle past me and then stop infront of me when I was catching fish, throw out a couple lines and a beer can. I TM'd over to their pontoon, picked up the beer can and just shook my head at them and went on. However, derby fishermen should have more respect for other derby fishermen if nothing else.
  2. LOL, I had one local guy tell me he takes a hack saw and cuts them into "steaks" then skins them out and cleans them much as you indicated. I have not tried them however he says they have a firm white meat. If you think about it they eat just about the same forage as crappie........... And, no I have not tried one myself. I'd rather eat the McD's fish which is not real fish!
  3. Let me know who puts on the Sat. night Cape Fair tournaments if you would please. Someone should talk to those boys out of Cape Fair about some of the actions of the people fishing their little derby. I was sitting on a point by Aunt's Creek when they came running down, about six or seven of them. Two of them, one champion with a big boy in it passed me on plane no more than fourty feet away, that would be two boat lengths, while I'm on the TM with a rod in my hand. He had the nerve to wave as he went by. The other guy in the ranger ran betweem me and the bank. I've fished a lot of tournaments including three circuits right now and have never seen so many inconsiderate "fishermen" in my life. Must be the big bucks they are fishing for?
  4. Jeremy, Van Buren? I travel Ft. Smith area every once in a while and would hook up with the guys on Tuesday night fishing the river. Goes out of the ramp by the bridge there between Van Buren and Ft. Smith. Good bunch of guys.
  5. Bill, Good to put a face on the name. I did not know you were an old "water bug" but heard a lot of stories from the current officers. I spent 15 years on the Jackson County Airwing as a training LT. before moving down here 12 years ago. Seems my limit was a little smaller than yours........... 12# did not make the money.
  6. LOL.... see ya there!
  7. Water is in the mid 60's depending upon what part of the lake you're on. Main lake swimming grubs for smallies, creeks some fish are still on beds and some are pre-span chasing shad. Find white bass busting shad and largemouth are close by. Spooks, chug bugs, and red fins are working when the topwater bite is on. Jigs, grubs, and shakey heads in other areas.
  8. State Park also has signs at the ramp and the entrance to the cove stating no fishing. I called Water Patrol last year from the ramp and received the same answer. The marina operator could call them however, they would not enforce the no fishing signs. This has been a big issue for a couple of years with the marina operators and has been banged around Jeff City for some time. I wonder if Tom Long will provide a copy of the "law" excluding fishing in the posted areas?
  9. Lilley, If you think about it for a little bit, crappie are much more prolific and procreative than bass. I keep only two or three K's a year and no largemouths. Crappie probably receive more pressure by number of fishermen who are targeting crappie only v.s. bass only but..............
  10. Joe, Welcome to Missouri! Your rig sounds like a great family set up. I've got grandkids now and your rig would work very well! Hope to see you on the water. J.E.

  21. Bassman1308, The short answer is yes to both. PM or let's set another topic to discuss if you want. SKMO and Babler are both Lowrance fans, (I used and love Lowrance)I've offered SKMO an outing to take a look at the SI. I just don't want to steal the topic or have it locked.
  22. SKMO, Humminbird 997's up an running, call me when you're ready.
  23. "I am very good with a net and flash photography. I usually don't catch very many fish but whom ever I take does. If anyone requires these type of services you can book me thru Beck's Table Rock Guide Service. He does demand a small perdeim for all the advertisment he is giving me." LOL...... Sounds like a great guide............
  24. Capt. Rick, New unit should be mounted for Lake "O" next week. You should let Mr. Babler know you are also Pro Staff for Humminbird.
  25. Lilly, As I responded in my e-mail, my apology. I read the wording as, "will respond and others, too" "This is a simple forum... post any prayer requests you have and Chuck, Tom or myself will respond and others, too, will pray. This isn't magic--nothing too heavy, just prayer." Power in prayer.
