  1. more of the grass carp from Wednesday...
  2. My buddy Jay caught the biggest Smallmouth of the trip when I visited Iowa a few weeks ago. 17.75".
  3. And don't clench down, or the doctor can't get her hand out.
  4. A couple weeks ago in NE Iowa we took a break from trout fishing. We were outside the car eating ham and cheese sandwiches. As I prepared to take my next bite, I looked at the sandwich, and right where my next bite would have been, a BEE had snuck in and was helping himself. I flicked it off and kept eating.
  5. Apparently I have a one bug limit. This morning I went to take a sip of my coffee and noticed a bug in it. I removed the bug and took a drink. I probably shouldn't admit that. The next time I reached for the coffee, I noticed another bug in it. I removed it and decided not to drink any more of it. 🤢🤮 Should the limit be "zero"? What's your limit, or do you even have one?

  9. The stocked sterile grass carp are difficult to catch, especially on flies. It can be done, but its very tough. The ones that are breeding and growing up in the rivers and creeks...seem to be much more aggressive feeders by nature. I saw a pod of a dozen or so grass carp in the creek yesterday. My haphazard cast landed right in the middle of them. Instead of spooking, they all turned and charged the indicator and fly. They were splashing and falling all over each other trying to get to whatever it was that hit the water. Then several followed around the fighting hooked fish almost up to shore! Most of us have watched smallmouth bass behave like this...who would've thought grass carp could be so aggressive? After quickly landing a second one there, they pretty much scattered and disappeared from that spot. I flyfished for 3-4 hours and caught 13 grass carp! By far my best day for Grassies. Some were caught blind casting, some were sight-fished...sometimes unseen fish would strike before the visible fish would reach the fly. After a month of being unfishable due to high water, the creek is getting good again...and so of course its supposed to rain on Saturday. 🙄
  10. Anyone get a sudden hankering for french fries with ketchup? Raspberry cheesecake? Marinara?
  11. Imagine burying a hook right where you move your thumb to reel in line or hold the rod... And deciding to just leave it there and keep fishing for another hour😬. THAT is dedication!
  12. @Ham Flat out GETS IT DONE! Everywhere I took him, he caught everything! I think the only species on his list we didn't manage to find was a Goldeye. I was catching them at this time last year...but for whatever reason, I haven't caught any in the creek since April. Totally killed it on Bullhead on a fly (took about a minute), Goldfish on a fly (from 2 different places!), Koi on a fly, Grass Carp on a fly (5!, plus one on an ultralight rod!), Redear on a fly, Shortnose Gar on a fly, Golden Shiner... 👊 We even took about a 4-hour early afternoon break! It was amazing this all happened in just one day! The fish are still wondering, "What just happened?" 😄
  13. Koi are so unique...you should post pics of the other ones you caught. 😀
  14. @snagged in outlet 3 likes pictures. Should we post the pictures? 😜
  15. There's the answer. They only have $60 Million in cash. Maybe just move $59 Million at a time, to make sure they can cover each of your transactions? You did say it was a "substantial amount" of money.... hopefully in 7 or 8 such transactions, you'll have it all moved. If not...they can't cover you!
  16. Maybe that many digits, all in a row, have them dazzled and confused? They may not be used to dealing with such large numbers, Bill.
  17. I thought this was a pretty awesome take on the famous Beatles album cover:
  18. I hope not. But the potential exists. We've all heard of people suing for extremely ridiculous things.
  19. What is this algae junk I keep having to pull off my fly when I fish the lower Meramec River? 😜
  20. Lemons. Lemonade. Sometimes cities stock park ponds with them intentionally. Ornamental ponds.
