  4. I call this "Seagull On Topwater" 😬 I didn't really want to catch it...it was faster than I thought it would be.
  5. I was out there on Saturday...not that particular lake, but fished a couple others... No crappies. Just bluegills, hybrid sunfish, a green sunfish, a bunch of small bass and some small redears.
  6. Exactly. On a no-look backcast, I've caught at least one human, and in a fortuitous moment of extreme skill, I lassoed this Cliff Swallow on a backcast. Not even hooked!
  7. I don't recall Crazy Climber. But yes on the Centipede and Galaga and Dig Dug and Q-Bert and Castlevania and Battlezone and Frogger, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Missile Command, etc. And Pong at home...we were stylin'! We had a pool table and a Bally Wizard pinball machine. Friends had Atari.
  8. Red mangrove...Bald cypress...? Nobody has these on their bucket list? Fine, we'll all retroactively agree to confine the species to just fish. This time. 😆 Shoot, I've been on a roll lately, too. I've been flailing around catching all kinds of cool stuff...I think I had a Quaking Aspen just the other day, and some...what was that stuff with the sticking seeds..."Beggars Lice?".
  9. Of course! Fun game.
  10. Sounds fun, let's give it a go. Was there any stipulations on the "100 Species" that they had to be fish? Would lotus and curly-leaf pondweed and duckweed and water primrose and watermeal count as new species? Asking for a friend. 😇
  11. Awesome! Was this your first Brown Bullhead? Or did you catch some last year too?
  12. Warmouth are on my list to catch. Only caught one in Illinois 20+ years ago. Would like to catch one on the fly rod. Only waters near me that seem to have them are private. Anyone know of Warmouth near StL?
  13. (FND11) Green Sunfish (Breamicus bigjawz): Possibly the easiest fish in the world to catch. I'm surprised I caught 10 species before this one.
  14. More of the Goldfish: More of the Koi: The one below was really dark....just looked black in the water.
  15. Check out the HORNS on that fella! Looks like a finned version of:
  16. Trout love to eat Salmon eggs and Trout eggs and native sucker eggs.
  17. @ Ham won't have to have that goal again....cuz he will reach it this year. 👍 He has already caught more species in 2.5 months this year than I did in my best year (last year, 33 species on fly). What a great start! More than 1/3 of the way to 100! His dedication to the goal is seriously impressive. Investments in time, gas, lodging, food, etc....is significant. I've currently got 29 species in Missouri since moving here in mid-July. Hopefully I can add some more species this year. Amongst species I haven't caught are Stonerollers, Longnose Gar, Bowfin, Fliers, Redspotted Sunfish or Blue Cats (ever). And haven't caught any Hybrid Striped Bass, Brown Trout, Rock Bass, or Warmouth in MO yet. So....I've got those to look forward to. 😀
  18. Yeah, I totally understand that, not much can compare...its what they were bred for I suppose. Longears and Pumpkinseeds and Orangespots are colorful! Spawning Redbreast. There's some wrasse species that are full-on gorgeous. Peacock Bass...Yellow Perch. I've seen pictures of some pretty colorful snakeheads. The trick is seeing how beautiful other fish are...like gar, gizzard shad, buffalo, and bullheads. Its more subtle...but its there. 🧐
  19. Behind? Shoot, you're still ahead of me, and I won't even be able to see your taillights by the end of the year!
  20. Too many fish for one? I know a guy that lives like 12 minutes from Kirkwood... has his own fly rod and everything. 😁
  21. Awesome fishes, congrats! 🤩
  22. That's right! And you caught a nice fly-caught Black Drum and a nice Gafftopsail Catfish... You'll have 100 or more species by the end of the year to compete with these Koi. But....
  23. It's WAY too early to call that. And...c'mon...you got a Grass Pickerel! And a bajillion species of Darters! And John got a giant Shad! And its only MARCH!
  24. The koi and goldfish all hit 1/80th oz microjigs suspended under an indicator. Most were caught on chartreuse. I switched to white after most of the marabou got torn of the chartreuse...and the goldfish especially liked the white. (the ones below are silver, not the white I mentioned)
