C&R yearly permit for missouri trout parks
gonefishin replied to timsfly's topic in General Angling Discussion
I have argued for years that there should be an annual licence. The thing is it seems that most people don't want to pay for it. In order for it to work it has to be of value to both paties the fisherman and the parks. To me it seems reasonable that an avid park fisherperson would be money ahead if they purchased an annual permit as I posted. I would certainly purchase one; if for no other reason than to bypass the daily permit purchasing lines. On the other hand they have to be expensive enough to help eliminate bubba taking advantage of the privlidge. To me having an annual park permit for the proper fee makes good sense. $20 bucks for an annual permit?? Who are we kidding, MDC just sees that as someone who wants to get out of paying for the privlidge of fishing the parks. It is a common misconception that C&R causes no loss of life. It is a known fact that the stress of being caught, handled or hooked too deep causes a certain percentage of fish to die. If we assume a 3% loss with a avid fisherperson who catches 50 fish per outing, fishes 2 days per week, 9 months of the year then the net loss of life for the season is about 110 fish. Hence stocking would have to continue even if we went to total C&R fishing. -
Yeah he caught a funny looking bluegill for sure. Speaking of funny looking bluegill, yesterday while fishing I was using small jigs, streamers for you fly fisherpersons, and kept catching speckled bluegill. They were kinda whitish silver with black spots all over them. Darned things don't bite worms for shucks but they sure like jigs. Funny looking bluegill for a fact but they were tasty fried up anyway.

That cat gave him quite a tussle on his ultralight rig.

C&R yearly permit for missouri trout parks

I am not sure what we are talking about here. Are we talking about an annual permit or are we talking about getting out of having to pay to fish in the parks? If we are truly talking about an annual permit. What I would like to see is an annual permit for any fishermen who wishes to pay the price. What should an annual park permit cost?? Lets say just for argument sake that a person could buy an annual permit for the price of fishing 1 day per week or $3 per week. $3 X 52 weeks per year =$156 bucks for an annual permit. That would seem a reasonable fee to me and I would certainly be willing to pay it. What about anyone else? -
My brother and I were fishing for gills a couple of days ago. Setup Ultralight Spinning rigs 4 lb line #6 eagle claw hooks small pieces of worms I caught this one My brother caught this one

I dont know that Mac's are bullet proof either but I run a Mac and upgraded to OS X. I run Nortons anti-virus and anti-spyware on it. Since installing OS X over a year ago Nortons has found 0 viruses and 0 spyware issues. Also since installaing OS X my computer has froze up two times. Both times was when I was trying to use MS Word for Mac. I used Mac computers from about 1980 to 1996 then swithced to PC. I used PC for about 10 years. I bought another Mac a little over two years ago and have so few problems that I no plans of ever switching back to PC.

I understand what you guys are saying but I am agianst any plan like that. I think a lot of people miss the point of the daily tag at the parks. The daily tag is not a license to keep fish or even a license to fish. Try buying a permit sometime without a fishing license. Your fishing license is what gives you the right to fish. The daily tags at the parks are in reality a day use fee that helps fund the parks. Catch and release or catch and keep makes no difference if you want to fish in a park on a given day you gotta pay the use fee. -
I don't agree with you on this one. The thing that separates people from animals is 'their brain'. If people would use 'their brain' then the sport can be promoted without a lot of problems. 250 hp boats? Why? I can understand why emergency people would need them but the average fisherman? IMO they should slow down a little bit and fish some of the water they are churning to a froth. Another point is why add to the pollution problem. Smaller engines burn less fuel, make less pollution, dump less oil in the water.... Slow down a little, practice a little courtesy, do less damage to the habitat and enviroment... I guarentee the overall outcome will be more plesant.

Sobriety checkpoint....and shakedown....

I am not for police harassment but parties on the rivers and in the party coves have been asking for it for years. -

Exactly. No need to harass the people who act respectfully while in public view. -

All I can say is don't show off your berries if your afraid to have them picked. I have a couple of blackberry bushes and when they get to showing off their berries I pick then and so do the birds and neighbors. If you are going to be in public you have to show some control over your actions. -
Not sure I understand the complaint here. Look at a map of the Neosho river sometime. There is a dam in nearly every town. I haven't noticed that they are death traps and it doesn't appear to have ruined the fishing. ??

I agree with Rusty. It is about time there is some enforcement on the rivers. Underage drinking is illegal anywhere and illegal drugs are illegal everywhere. To combat these crimes law enforcement targets areas where the perpetrators are. People on the rivers and in the party coves are doing these things in the wide open where everyone can see them. It is like they are waving a big red flag and thumbing their noses at law enforcement. Why complain when law enforcement retaliates? -
They will do it. Park on an automatic is nothing more than a pin that protrueds into a gear. They work amazingly well for no more than there is to them but the pin is spring loaded so it is wise to remember that popping out of gear, especially under a heavy load, is always a possibility. So much for the Toyota Titan being able to stop and hold a 30,000 lb trailer as they show on the commercial huh??

I have seen Spoonbill do this a lot of times. Especially this time of year.

Bush Creates Import Safety Panel Staff and agencies 18 July, 2007 By TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer 17 minutes ago WASHINGTON - President Bush on Wednesday established a high-level government panel to recommend steps to guarantee the safety of food and other products shipped into the United States and to improve U.S. policing of those imports. The White House denied the effort was aimed primarily at China. "The administration is concerned about the safety of imported products that Americans eat and use and we‘ll start working on concrete steps to address whatever problems they may uncover," said White House spokesman Tony Snow. "This is not a slap at China," said Snow when asked if he thought China would be offended by Bush‘s action. "This is in fact a normal piece of business. We get food imports from 150 countries around the world. It‘s important to monitor them all." Bush created the new panel with an executive order.

I noticed the same thing. I talk but my voice just bounces off the empty walls of OAF. I guess everyone ('cept me) is out fishing.

Seriously I wonder how many of the sightings and confirmed animals have been from people who have cougars as pets and have liberated them into the wild for whatever reason.

'cheetz: What kind of music do you play? I don't recall if you ever said.

No problem for me Phil. I have used some of the symbols you mentioned but, I really don't remember if I have used them on this site. If I have used them and it offended anyone I offer my apologies however, I don't use them to cuss or call someone a name, I use them as humor. I will comply with your wishes and not use them on here anymore. Like Terry I suffer old timers but I will try to be good.

Brown Trout Petition for the Eleven Point
gonefishin replied to Brian Sloss's topic in Conservation Issues
I just wondered. I reckon I chose a poor way to ask a question. A better choice would have been are you a fish biologist. Its amazing what a person can learn just from reading. Can get a heck of an education at the local library. Pickerel is a fish I am interested in because I have never caught one and there aren't many places where they are abundant in MO. I am probably in the minority but I do prefer bows over browns.
