  1. Made a batch of this after my last Taney trip. Every one loves it Smoked trout spread gut the fish and remove gills ( 2 0r 3 trout) smoke over your favorite wood until almost falling apart remove skin and debone meat, crumble and chill mix 1 8 oz block of cream cheese and 8 oz sour cream together add 1 or 2 cloves of minced garlic, salt, pepper and some chopped green onion mix well and stir in fish spread on crackers or some other snack chip
  2. What's the limit there? Looks like more than a Missouri limit. Trout are easy to fillet. Rolls in Andy's and deep fry. If you leave them whole try this: Smoked trout spread gut the fish and remove gills smoke over your favorite wood until almost falling apart debone meat and crumble and chill mix 1 8 oz block of cream cheese and 8 oz sour cream todether add 1 or 2 cloves of minced garlic, salt, pepper and some chopped green onion mix well and stir in fish spread on crackers or some other snack chip
  3. If you have that many days to fish I would hire a guide the first morning and learn that area of the lake where you are staying. Here's a link to one of our members guide service. Also check out his post on the Table Rock forum. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com/ A lot of times when we go someplace new we hire a guide to show us the ropes on that lake and it usually has made the whole trip better.
  4. I don't leave anything on my boat when it is in a slip. Truman, Taney or any other lake is not safe over night. I pull my electronics every night and take all the tackle and leave the lockers unlocked. We pulled into Fall Creek dock one day a few years ago and a sheriff deputy was taking a report from the guys in two boats. Thieves had taken all their gear and come in by water. They were having lunch in the condos right above the dock. they were all LEO's themselves and lost everything.
  5. We always used to soak hotdogs in anise flavoring and a guy told me about the wd and the scent trail it puts in the water. It is made from fish oil Just cut some cheap hotdogs in one inch pieces put them in a jar and spray with wd. we let them set for a day or so in the fridge so they marinate and they work good. also raw shrimp is good if you can't find shad.
  6. Great answer
  7. That is nice especially the last couple of days.
  8. Danna's is pretty good BBQ for that area. There is one off 165 near Fall Creek Road. If you really want to catch some walleye call Buster Loving and go over the Bull Shoals.
  9. We use hotdogs soaked in anise or wd40. always catch cats that way, river or lake doesn't matter. we used noodle jugs and the drops are set for 5' which seems to work on most flats.
  10. Thanks, that is some good advice.
  11. of being retired and it sure feels strange not going to work. I guess I will just have to get used to it. The boss just came in the room and said we are having a garden weeding party this morning. So much for not working. Can't wait for my next trip to Taneycomo.
  12. Congratulations to Phil, family and staff. I think my first stay was about 7 or 8 years after you started. There have been a lot of great upgrades and changes over the years in the facility but not in the people who continue to be great. It is our favorite place to stay on vacation in Missouri. And, the fishing is pretty good.
  13. Good video. You got into some very nice fish.
  14. Pages seem to be loading a lot faster than before.
  15. What a great day. Nice looking family. Baby is a cutie.
  16. There are no white bass in Bull Shoals. aarchdale caught the last of the live ones and the rest died in the cold winter. Go to Table Rock and fish there they have plenty.
  17. Hey if it works for you that is great. I use old 9 ft flyrods with a spinning reel on the end for dipping trees for crappie. It works great and gave me a use for a rod I no longer used. Plus it cost less that a B and M dipping rod.
  18. I talked to him last night and they have been doing pretty good. This cold front will slow it down for a day or two and hopefully be prime time next week. Looking forward to seeing all my friends again at Lilley's. Phil, you'll have to stop by #9 and see the new addition to the family who will be making his first trip next week.
  19. Recognized that stretch of water from the video. I have not straight lined a jig in that area but have done well with jig and float in that same area. Caught a nice brown across from short creek on a micro jig under a float last year. had to be 18" at least. Fought like a white bass. See you next Monday. Going to be fishing with Buster on Tuesday.
  20. Phil, how far down the lake is the white jig working? We'll be down next week and will want to try it.
  21. It was nice to have some good encounters with those fellas. I had the same kind of experience at pro golf tournaments with the big name golfers. Everyone I met was a really good guy.
  22. We ran into several of the Elite boys when they were there and they even slowed down going by us and we were snagging on the James. I think that was Chris Lane. We also gave Timmy Horton a ride out to his boat after it slipped off the trailer and drifted out. He was a really nice guy. When he left the ramp at Bridgeport he went out real slow until he was way out into the lake.
  23. Don't know if that is a good idea with the number of idiots who have conceal carry permits and have fishing rods. You never know when some guy will pull out a gun with out thinking and start slinging lead. We run into crazies on Taney all the time and we just move on.
