Went out of aunts last night. What a circus. Knew better than to go but only time I had to take my nephew. Caught a few inbetween dodging peasure boats and guys fishing. Ended up on a nice rocky bank, sitting in 25' of water. Noticed anouther boat coming down the bank fishing with no lights on, they came around the point and kept coming at us. Stayed put to see what they would do as I had turned my lights on. They got within 40 yards and were still coming, heading right over where we were casting. Thought to myself, now would be a good time to hook one and felt a light tap. As you can tell, need to get a better camera with flash for these. 6.5lb I think, or bigger. Spawned out with a big big head. My nephew was thrilled, just wished he would have caught her. texas rigged craw. Happy fishing.

Bill, any idea if they are doing it in the evenings? would love to get some kids in the middle of them one evening.

Sam, Sorry to hear that. He was correct thou, old school is the way to go. I wonder how people fish serious without a blacklight. It makes a world of difference. Would suggest to anyone that wants to give night time a try to invest in one with some florecent line. Have used the motor oil, for me its more of a moonlight bait. Did he use it in the dark of the moon also with positive results?

ABK, you have some of the best things there that will work anytime. Really almost all you need.

Large profile is the most important in my mind. New moon, (dark) always black and something. Full moon (bright) black can be good especially if your on a deep summer pattern (not much light gets down there) but head back towards the pumkins and watermelons. Just keep in mind you dont want to blend in with the bottom. Now that said, Have see it when they wanted the reverse. A black and blue and a dark green pumkin are the two basics. Head either way from there. Once you go to a moving bait after dark, you enter anouther problem. Its normally the vibration and movement that triggers more than color. Think more williow or colorado, with different sizes of both. More or less vibration can and normally is the key. I have seen where one brand of spinners out caught anouther by 4 to one, and they were the same color and weight. Believe it was the difference in blades. Black spinners are always an option, but dont forget about the white ones at times. Cranks have not faired well with me after dark but would not know why if u have the fish found they would not react and eat one.

quil, ohh I would have released that fish in the grease. Still have yet to catch an "eye" on a texas rig. If one makes the mistake it will be costly for him if he is 18".

Miket, nice looking. Might make an order. -
Oh, and thanks guys for the "that a boy"s. dont post them just because we done well, just have been asked to post and keep guys informed. Its a great tournement. Nice guys fishing and a lot of fun. Could not think of anything else I would rather do on a friday night. But my girlfreind would disagree some. Anyone interested can always message me here, or call Joe Gettle who runs it. http://millcreekteamnighttournaments.com/

90% old school blue mono. use bp exel alot....its cheap enough we change it out on every reel for every derby (well almost). I restring probably 4 every week. there is a brand of co-polmer I like to use that is florecent (name eludes me) but when I do use it in 17lb it is a royal pain to break off when you get hung. Has more sensitivity than mono but costs alot more. Have not found a florocarbon in florecent yet, or braid. Of course this is for night only. Daylight rods carry 15lb floro or smaller.

We found the same friday night. 25 keepers, larges 3.5lb. only had high 11lb. Saturday found better fish.

Moto, think some of the guys do fish some day. We dont much during the summer. The rock is like jekylle and hyde old girl. Night time is like a totally different lake. Think 12" worms (even used 14" last year), 20lb line, and anything that is big. Not that big always works at night, but way tabo during the day. The night tourneys normally have higher weights than day, believe it is because its easier to trick the big girls at night when they cant see so well. Couple years ago when I started fishing them, I was suprised when I think it was the FLW came here on a weekend. We had a two nighter and both nights our bags were half again more than what the pro's brought out. Fishing after dark can be addicting. During the summer its cooler, hardly any traffic and larger fish. Now who would not like to fish to those advantages.

RealDeal look good, but 3 bucks per jig. Pigstickers are still 4.25 for two, and local mo also. -

Just looked them up. Nice looking jigs but pricey. Pigstickers are just as good, local, and less money. -
5-7-13 Shell Knob And Dam Area Report
Jason Essary replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
snakem, im on it. fished one last night. done well but no keepers, guess wrong spots, but caught 10 fish on it in hour and half. -
Im with dtrs, I switch from the 4 to 5 alot. If I cant get the bow out of my line as Bill said, simply use a slightly bigger head.
-
why peg it? I am a true believer in using beads to make a rattle sound when popped and shaked. also, pegged does not let the weight slide away from the fish when they jump and shake their head, meaning more thrown baits. I use t-rig ALOT, never never peg. Caught 8 fish over 3lbs last night, never missed or lost a fish.

Decided to sell a couple of my reels. Going to upgrade a few. I have two Shimano Citca's 200e. Have owned them for two years now. Work very nice. Cast great and the backlash controls are wonderful. They both have some war rashes, nothing major and nothing that effects the action. Reels were used well thou the summers and put away during bow season. One has an spoke broke off the drag handle but with no ill effects. Oiled every 4 weeks. Just to let you know how well I like these reels and that they work great, until sold they will be used every week. Asking $85 per reel or $150 for the pair. If shipping needed it will be added. Posting here first, would rather sell to guys I know than strangers.
