  1. Justin: Did Creepy make it down there? Larry Hurt
  2. Sold about three years ago , land across from Gene's Trout Resort as of last Feb. had asphalt road down to river with lots marked out for sale. At that time no houses being built, I think the lots then were going for $164,000.
  3. Kirks Fly Shop, down town Estes Park, Lilly Lake just outside the Park!
  4. I think Zack is right about the reel handle...........instructions should tell you what to look for..for the heck of it where did you buy it?
  5. Gavin: You left Hargrove at home! After all he does wood fires...........
  6. I love the Flambeau water proof box........1 side has little compartments with lids for the small stuff and the other side will handle all the streamers you could want. Just bought a C&F magnetic hook box, looks great takes up 0 room and will hold lots of small stuff as mentioned in a previous post. I don't think you can beat these two boxes
  7. Hand warmers you can buy at Wally World really come in handy................man they warm the fingers when you know longer can move them. Also what works is to have some flies you plan to use already tied to the size tippet you plan to use. Have a loop on the other end and have a loop on the leader, then all you have to do is the Loop to Loop.....(kinda sounds like an oldie from the late 50's). It does work well when the fingers have no feeling.........
  8. Lone Angler: Glad Phil asked about the underwater video! After seeing your picture and the camera on your head I thought you might have went under for a good view of the brown swimming off.............burr!
  9. Brian: The picture of the Brown looks a lot like the one Chris Conant caught on the NFOW at the Falls on March 2, 2009. I was lucky enough to be along for the trip and had the pleasure to net his fish.......it was an exciting experience for all of us.
  10. Went on the shocking survey Sept 28th from the Park cable to Baptist and there was a very good number of browns in the 15"-17" category brought up. I agree with Gaven, the number of browns in the area of 17"-18" should be greatly improved in the early spring.
  11. Great job John! I'm sure there are more than a few unhappy people about the increase in size.
  12. Great job Scott, a fish for 1 1/2 life times;) .............great job on the net by your friend, probably 30 boats drifting from Phils to Copper Creek already
  13. Did they extend it up or down river? thanks for the info.................
  14. John: I noticed on a post someone mentioned the C&R area at Norfork had been expanded, any truth to this? Thanks Larry
  15. AH! July 1967, 3am and arrived Ft. Leonard Wood via the worst bus route possible from KC Mo. An early morning I will never forget
  16. Let's see went to Swan Valley Idaho in August with 5 others and drift boated the South Fork of the Snake River for 4 days. First time for any of us and the fishing was fantastic. most of the fishing was on top with the fly needing to be within 6" on the areas with large under cut banks to be in the real zone. The Cut's coloring was great with some very bright colors. The fishing under was with a dropper off the dry with mostly bow's & White fish being caught with a few browns. Also the first time I have ever used a balloon as an indicator, kinda strange to me but they worked. In case you wonder about where Swan Valley is located, I would estimate it being perhaps 60-70 miles southwest of Jackson Wy. All around a Great trip with some great people.............
  17. CS Huntley: Welcome Home!
  18. First time I used one was on the NF of White from a drift boat with two heavy weighted flies deep, even with the weight the medium size stayed high on the water and was very sensitive. I had broke off using my old indicators and my friend gave me a rod already rigged for we wouldn't lose any time on the drift. I looked and thought what the s*^&#^# is this ....well I fell in love with them and have continued to use them.......little problem with the small on 6/7x tippet with sliding but not that much of a problem to give them up......also seem to work better on the cast than other I have used in the past......
  19. JAH: Don't worry about it! Sure not the first time someone will be skunked nor the last. I remember a few years ago myself and two friends were fishing the Current, one guy an extremely good fly man, we all three were skunked. Man I thought about the 0 for a week ........................also ran into three others I know as good fly men and they had 1 fish between them..........the conditions were extremely low water, cleeeeeear water, and bright sun, tough conditions. It brings you back to earth about the sport and the old saying "It's why it's called FISHING not Catching"
  20. Phil: Is top power pool for Table Rock still 915 or has it been changed to 920, keep hearing both numbers used for the last 6/7 months...........Thanks
  21. If you wade up river from the handicap/Ackermans Access you better watch REAL Close for rising water, because you won't have much time to get back down river!
  22. Arrived at Alton Mo. Sunday night 7/12 with my friend Craig Stevens for a day float with Brian Sloss, from his "Benefit Guide Trip Auction". We arrived at Brian's Eleven Point Canoe Rental Shop at 630am 7/13 for a good day of fishing. Cloudy day with a prediction of possible thunder storms. Loaded up the equipment and drift boat and put in at Greer. One thing for sure with all the rods we had set up we didn't need to worry about breaking off in the middle of a good drift....just grab another rod. There for a while I thought we might have to leave Craig at the launch site a/c not enough room . I started out rigged with a brown Stone Fly with a weighted Craw pattern tied by a friend at T. Hargroves fly shop. Stated catching fish right from the get go, with Craig and myself hooking up on numerous occasions, whether it was in the mouth of a great looking rainbow or a rock/tree which equals fish DEEP and if you are not hitting bottom your not DEEP enough. I think at times Craig was using a Don's Craw pattern dropped off a Stone also. Basically stayed with the same same the entire day. Did use an egg pattern up top with a black Stone as the trailer caught a few with the set up until Brian rigged my rod back up. Brian feels the egg pattern up top is a good attractor for the trailer fly.......Could have a good point since the 5-6 fish caught on the rig was on the Stone and only one on the Egg. Also as mentioned in previous fishing report we also noted numerous fish following our flies with 1-2 taking the fly right off the surface. What even made the day better was the lack of canoe's with I think numbered around three for the whole day. Brian kept us on fish and good runs all day, which I'm sure played a large part in our success. Biggest fish of day was Craig netting a healthy WILD Bow around 16 +/-". Most fish were in the 14" range and were willing to give you a good fight to the net. The fish hooked in the rapids had a big advantage with the flow adding about three/four inches to the fish's fight. I would say for the day the two of us probably brought to the net around 50 fish, with many long range release, stung mouths and just some out right go to sleep misses . Weather was great with some thunder in the distance but NO rain until a few drops as we were loading up for the trip back to Alton. Really want to give Brian a BIG Thank You! for the hard work he did all day, on the oars and the numerous times he hit the water and walked the boat through the really good runs to make sure we were able to work the water. It was well worth the time and I would suggest others take advantage to our guides knowledge of the river and the fine fishery Eleven Point has to offer.
  23. LMW: Good to see you back on Taney and doing a little posting, been awhile
  24. Aaron: Good thing I went to the Cardinals game or you might have slipped one by me...............
