I was at Smithville Lake, just north of KC on Saturday morning fishing for white bass. It was cold and windy. While walking the 1/2 mile back to the truck I went through a grove of trees that blocked the wind and saw butterflies. Looked up and there were 50-100 Monarchs above me but below the tree tops, just staying out of the wind and cold. It was surreal. Never seen anything like it. I sat there for 20 minutes.
