  1. Thanks Jtram. That fish pretty much made my year.
  2. I used two baits last Sunday. Ned and a 3/8 oz. War Eagle spinnerbait. All of my big fish bit the spinner, but i had a few good fish on the Ned rig too. The biggest fish of the day. 22"

  4. Sorry to hear this. RIP Wayne.
  5. Thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it. We have it wired to a 50 amp supply right now. I guess I just need to get the receptical for the generator.
  6. I'm wanting to use a generator for back up power on an RV. The question is, can it be plugged into the outside outlet just like you would your house? I would disconnect from the pole when doing this. I'm a little scared to do it because I don't want to blow up the 12 volt charging system or anything for that matter. I haven't been able to find anything that is really helpful on the web and I figured the OAF members would be able to help out. Thanks in advance. Buzz

I agree with fishinwrench. I use P Line Fluoroclear and Stren Fluorocast in 2 and 4 lb. Serves me well and a whole lot cheaper than the small spools.
  8. There are poachers at Hickory. Ollie and I have seen that firsthand. But it's much better than it was in the first couple of years. It is C & R from November 1st through the end of February. Capps on the other hand is catch & keep year round. It doesn't take long for a few keepers to pass the word and then the stocking is wiped out. I don't fish Capps as much as I used to for that very reason. It is a shame too. I love the creek for it's wildness. Unfortunately it's stocked lightly and in very predictable locations.
  9. I use tippet rings almost exclusively now. Surgeons knot is my srecond choice.
  10. Thanks for the video Chris. I enjoyed it.
  11. Lakers right I need more proof than a few photos.....Lol Looks like a good trip. I wish I was able to get out today.
  12. Not sure what happened. It opened up for me just now. The Black Friday sale is obviously over, but you should check out the closeouts. I bought 12 dozen flies for under $30.
  13. Great video. I like that you filmed it in black and white.
  14. Cool catch RPS!!!

    Olliefest Viii

Very tough morning. Ollie nailed 1 in the first hole. I caught 1 chubbow and 1 minbow. The lower end was better. Ollie nailed 2 right off the bat in the first hole and I jumped my first rainbow off in the second hole. It took me a while to get out of the trees and when I did I tied on an olive scud which caught all of my 3 rainbows in the allotted time and 2 more after. Capps can be a fickle ######, well you know. Good time and I always look forward to it. Good to fish with Ollie and Scott again. Next Olliefest might be better at Hickory. Lol

You know how I feel about power bait Ollie, it always comes off the hook on the back cast. Anyway, I have plenty of flies. Too many to choose just one. This year anyway. Maybe next year.
  17. Cabelas has some nice combos that are reasonably priced. That's where I bought my 3WT fully rigged with backing and fly line for a little over $ 100. If you want a workhorse that's reasonable, Academy has a few 5/6 WT combos for about $100 or less. My Okumas I bought are great combos for the money and I've never regretted buying them.

  19. What Amery said. I like to tie in a red hot spot right behind the bead. It may just be me, but it seems to be the most productive for me.
  20. I plan on fishing it next Sunday for Olliefest. Thanks for the report.
  21. I didn't fish any dries, but did pretty well on midges and frenchies.
  22. I stayed in the upper end today. I was quite disappointed in the quality of fish I saw and caught. I had a few quick releases of good fish, but that was it. Maybe 2 fish that would push 15", but most in the 12" to 13" range with WAY too many 8 to 10" fish and a couple of 6 inchers mixed in. Glow bugs, san juans, zebra midges, and pheasant tails. The pheasant tail caught the most by far. I managed to catch a few more than 30 today. it wasn't boring, but it wasn't epic either. I did have a first today though. I had a double.....An 8" rainbow and a 3" sculpin. At first I thought the sculpin was a leaf. Lol. He took the glow bug and the rainbow took the only thing left, the san jaun worm. I saw a variety of weather today, at about 11:00 it started to rain, then it started to sleet, then it rained again, then it spit a few snow flakes. Over all not a bad day. I could have been sitting at home or working.
  23. That's what I heard. It will have to wait until next weekend for me.
  24. Great catch. Congrats!!!
  25. I love fishing in snowy weather. I just don't want ice.
