    WALLEYE ?

I am moving from the lake in June. However, I would enjoy coming back over to show you what I have learned. Let me know.

    WALLEYE ?

I have not fished Lake Norfolk, but after the fish have rested from their attempt to spawn, mid April to early May, I fish for them on Tablerock in the lower parts of the spawning river/creek, not quite on the main lake. Try a Lindy rig with a minnow or nightcrawler. Start at 10' and work your way out.
  3. You did better than I did, but I did not get out until nearly noon. Water temp was 49 when I pulled off the lake.

    What's Cooking?

Instead of cake, I made pie. Photo is not much to look at, but the walleye and veggies inside were fantastic.

    What's Cooking?

Today I told my eighth grade to bring chips tomorrow. Tonight I made Pico de gallo and a roasted salsa (many jalapenos, tomatillos, poblanos, garlic, tomatoes, spices, lemon, and salt)

The Shootist contains the very best statement by Wayne, ever. “I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.”

    Favorite Movies

This is my number one favorite, ever. Ford made Rio Grande, a great film, as his payment for filming the Quiet Man. Back in the day, when movies appeared on three channel tv to coincide with seasons, my mother and i would watch the Quiet Man. We recited the dialogue as the characters said the lines. Late in life, after Ford passed, Wayne made two movies worth keeping and showing. Watch The Cowboys and The Shootist. Please do not watch the movie for which he won the Oscar, True Grit.
  14. Respect.
  15. For a first rod, that is outstanding! My first rod was in the 80's. It was not nearly as well made. Anymore, since I make only for myself, I do not do the gorgeous "bling" effects you built in, but you did a great job with them. Did you use the Forhan lock on the guides? From the picture I cannot tell. Great job!
  16. I don't dream those dreams. I listened to them. My father fished the White before the Bull Shoals dam, as well as after. He would tell me stories as I grew up and learned to fish with him. Some of them may have been true. When I took him on his last fishing trip he was in his 70's and we fished brown trout with Elden? the police officer from Gassville. He caught a brown that day in the 7 pound range. On the drive home he told me he preferred the river before it was dammed. That seems to say much about large small mouth.

    What's Cooking?

I respect that. I briefly considered a horseradish cream sauce, but that goes better with beef. I also toyed with the idea of a sweet and sour mustard. In the end, I fixed something I knew the wife would like.

    What's Cooking?

Good morning all. I just put a heavily salted and peppered boneless pork loin in the refrigerator to air brine for a bit. This afternoon it will go into a 137 degree sous vide bath. I will sear it just before serving. I plan to roast small potatoes and saute burst cherry tomatoes with diced zucchini for side dishes. I have also prepped for tomorrow's meal, slow cooker vegetable beef and barley soup. After my nap I may have to bake some bread. If the pork looks good I will put up pictures.

    What's Cooking?

I carefully photographed tonight's meal to avoid triggering any of you with at home comfort wear. Lamb rack with a lentil side dish featuring vegetables and garlic. Salad with home made peppercorn dressing.
  24. Bogas do vary, especially in heat and cold. However, they are remarkably close to real scales. You caught a heck of a fish, and the haters can just go suck lemons.
  25. Trout, schmout. Who cares? On the other hand those are great smallmouths! Well done, gentlemen!
