Good on you! I hope you cleaned and cooked those crappie. Cold water crappie are the only fish I know that can match walleye.
-
This is a great option, and very good when the fish want a subtle, slow presentation. I just don't do subtle well.

Hook set - Babler has quoted Beck a number of times. Start reeling fast, and when you feel the fish, put a strong bow in the rod. Bill, if I have it wrong, correct me.

Thank you.

What I am interested in buying and what I have. Part of the equation? Within the year I am moving to a striper lake. Another part? I need/want a boat I can fall down in an and have high odds I will land in the boat. Third, this will be my last boat and I want to have something more than what I should buy. By July I will be fishing Skiatook Lake . North of Tulsa. The wife and I closed on a permanent home in Tulsa today. When we finish the school year, we go. The new lake cannot match Table Rock. My Table Rock PB top water bass would be a lake record, much less my real PB. The lake has some walleye that no one seems to fish. The lake has hybrids and some stripes. None as large as what I caught in Texoma years ago. It does not matter. The chase matters more than the results. Do not get the wrong impression. I will love the new place and totally enjoy the fishing. I merely want to have my final wish rig. I know the above sounds pathetic, but I try to tell the truth. So who wants to make a deal?

Some months ago, I posted about my balance not being what it once was. I asked about pontoons. I received some excellent advice from a number of people. Thanks! This weekend I am headed to the Tulsa boat show. I will be looking at Vexus boats. I am particularly interested in their 19 foot center console. It has a huge front deck on a larger platform than what I have now. My interest is serious. My present boat is a good one. 2016 Lund 1650 Rebel XS Sport (windshield) with a 90 HP Evinrude Etec and a MinnKota Ulterra. Other goodies - you know me, I tend to spend too much. With trailer, the book says something around $16k. Anyone interested enough for me to post pictures?

My PB came on a crawler harness, although not a slow death. 13.75 pounds. My other 10 pound fish came on a flat line troll of a Storm Thundershad. This last summer I had two limits jigging a spoon on channel breaks. For me, the spoons work best when the fish are deep and more schooled up.

You are welcome in my boat. Let's give the fish time to settle after the February/March spawn and plan a weekend trip in April or May where we can top water fish in the morning and chase walleye after that. As for the trolling motor limitation, many up North "backtroll". They use the main motor in reverse to go more slowly. The idea of using the wind to drift is good as well but you will need to use the TM to follow the break lines.

Whoa! Johnsfolly's post shows a small one with green head. I had never seen that before. I stand corrected.

I used to fish sculpins to use for bait for big browns. Their color very much matches the color variations of the bottom where you find them. The longer baits above are well within the range I have seen. The brighter green on the smaller baits seems a bit off, but then I have never seen a shad the same color as a Table Rock Shad or Clown jerk bait. A second color shade I might suggest would be somewhat darker than the long baits with brown added to the light green. Side note - another good match the hatch for a jerk bait is a lighter rainbow finish with really subtle spots to match the color of the "silver bullets" at stocking time. Just my opinion. Good luck!

I have fished a bottom bouncer rig in 5 to 10 feet of water on several occasions. That it why I have 1/2 ounce bouncers in my bag. BTW that shallow only works with a dragged rig if the water is deeply stained or muddy. If the fish are that shallow and the water is clearer, put a Zman Slim Swimz on a Ned head and bounce/swim it to the boat.

In the meantime, try these that Quillback found. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Hayabusa_Baby_Shooting_Ball_Football_Jig_4pk/descpage-HSBFBJ.html

I am trying something new to me, but old hat to yawl. I have about 4 inches of bologna in the smoker and just finished making a bbq sauce.

I bet it was good. Risotto is fluid infused into rice with agitation to produce a creamy medium. I bet instapot does that really well.

Fair enough. I agree. If someone wants to put ketchup on filet mignon, I am good with that. My point was a bit different. Anyone raised in a crazy family where food and meals become politics and power picks up scars. One of mine is fast food through pressure cooking. Sorry about that. I will pull my bias back out of the discussion. So, who do you think? Rams or Patriots?
-
My mother, bless her heart, cooked everything to death and on the highest heat available to make sure it was done as soon as it could be. She loved the pressure cooker. I remember an evening when my brother in law and I took the entire family out to eat for a holiday at an excellent restaurant in Tulsa, The Chalkboard. Dan and I had agreed in advance whose turn it was to pick up the tab for my crazy sister who always ordered something expensive, created a scene, and stormed out of the place. In other words, we had a mellow, excellent evening planned. Mother sent her meat back as underdone. She sent it back a second time. The third time, the chef, in tears, came from the kitchen to beg her not to ruin her meal. She relentlessly asked for more done. My scars have prevented me owning or using a pressure cooker. In this area, I am struggling NOT to judge.
-
On second thought that sounds incredibly snobbish. Please forgive me. I do not mean to judge; I only mean to state my preference.

Instapot has little appeal to me. The process means as much as the product, especially when the product is "nearly as good." Chicken with rice pilaf and pan roasted broccoli.

Last Sunday I made a lentil bowl and posted a picture. This morning I finished the blog post with the "how to." Forgive me, but I hope the link is welcome/ http://www.ozarkrevenge.com/2019/01/mediterranean-lentil-bowl.html

Craisins are great in salads; they also make a fantastic add to a yellow curry or to a chicken salad. BTW, have any of you made a Coronation Chicken salad (a curried chicken salad created when the present Elizabeth got her crown)? Nancy and I recommend it and do add craisins.

OK. Here is this year's food contribution. I will bring a smoked chub of bologna to slice and grill there. I will also make BBQ sauce and bring buns. This year I plan to catch a fish large enough to weigh. Doesn't matter to me if I win, but it would be nice to catch one worth others looking at it.
