  1. Hell yes the Humpy! DeepR's are killer too! Even DeepWeeR's!
  2. Can you legally possess it out of season??????
  3. I know ness. It could very well be a scam. But I read it like Jack did. Keep a look out and let us know if you see something. That is the only reason I posted it. A lot of people on this board fish that area and may come across something.
  4. They didn't ask for money Joe.
  5. Yeah one peice. It was over by Racine.

  7. I used to love their regular dressing which used to be orange and now is red due to a change in ingredients. It doesn't taste the same to me either and I refuse to buy it any more. That is the sauce that put them on the map. After Mrs. Ott died a few years ago, the company was quickly sold to Gilster-Mary Lee. That is when the recipe changed in this salad dressing. I am sure they are making it cheaper than it was and that is why the taste difference. Others seem to still love it. Ever couple of years I get a hankering for it and break down and get a bottle. I then remember why I dislike it now. I always end up throwing out the rest of the bottle. Here is some history of Ott's http://www.ottfoods.com/history.asp I have a recipe that I got years ago for Gates. I got it when I used to live in KC and compared it to theirs. I can hardly tell the difference. I can share that one if you like.
  8. In fact, I had my truck stolen out of my driveway sometime between midnight and 6am Sunday morning. Called the sheriff and in less than 20 minutes they were in my driveway taking a report. About 11 hours later, I got a call that they found my truck. It is now back home minus a few items and a 1/2 tank of gas.
  9. It is made by Ott's in my home town of Carthage. I always have a jug of my homemade sauce in fridge but ocassionally I'll use some store bought. And when I do it is always Ott's. They have a line of sauces. Try the Sweet Hickory. Really good stuff. Running $.88 a bottle in some stores. But don't let the low price fool you. I doesn't taste cheap. They also have a great line of salad dressings. That is what gave them their start in Mr. Ott's resturant in Carthage many years ago. Their Creamy Italian makes are a really good German style potato salad and pasta salad.
  10. http://springfield.craigslist.org/wan/3918243082.html Saw this while surfing. Keep yours eyes open.
  11. I tend to agree with Joe on this one. If you love what you have why change? I have some really sweet set up's that I guarandamntee you would think are some killer rods and reels. Until you read the lables. But just to be fair, I do have some Loomis and Falcon equipment.
  12. Oh this is going to suck! I am a die hard Cheatin' Chief's hater! But now that Chase is working there...well I suddenly find myself in quite a pickle!
  13. Smaller creeks are perfect for wading with smaller kids when you are introducing them to the wonderful world of fishing. And the fish make it even better due to the almost constant action!
  14. Grub and beer for weekend float with the fella's - $100 Stop at the strip bar on the way plus bail money - $745 Vintage Royalex Old Town canoe once owned by ness - worthless!
  15. Spot on. That has happened to one of my favorite smallmouth creek over here. Flysmallie had some business over my way a few days ago and I took him to a creek that I loved to take the long rod on. I hadn't fished in a couple of years and as we all now we have had little rain in the last couple of years. Not enough to cause big floods like you are speaking of. Just little gully washers that don't have the power to do what a healthy stream needs done. When we got on scene, I quickly noticed my first spot had filled in. Ok, move on. No good. Every hole we went to that day was filled in. There was also a smaller, wet weather creek that dumps in and it had pushed a ton of rock into the bigger stream that actually changed the main flow and created a new gravel bar. We have had rain every day like everyone else in this area but not in the big numbers like just to the south and east. I haven't been down to look but I don't think this current flooding is enough to scour out the holes again. I hope I am wrong.
  16. Well, get your butt out there on them smaller streams! And get them girls out there with you. You guy's will have a blast!!!!
  17. Exactly! And it has been proven time and time again through the years. Hell, they even made a movie about it.
  18. I don't know that anyone targets smaller fish, it is just the nature of the beast. There are just not many bigger fish is smaller creeks. Depending on what you are calling big. 18+? doubtful. 15's, 16's? You bet. And you can catch them on smaller cranks. Done it a million times.
  19. Well boo hoo bawl bag. Maybe you should have learned to paddle in a battleship canoe like the rest of us did. But what do we know about paddling. We are just a bunch of flatwater paddlers. We'll be just fine. It is only the elite whitewater dudes that will have to adjust their fragile ego's. Anyway, I agree with Wrench. I'll take a little added weight for durability.
  20. In some ways yes, I think we are. As for lures, I am still using lures that were designed, and in some cases manufactured 50 years ago. I don't get all that excited about the latest gizmos.
  21. The main reason I downsize cranks in clearer water is as a rule of thumb as the water gets clearer, it gets smaller and so do the fish. In the waters I fish regularly. I am not a huge fan of cranks in gin clear waters but have used them with success. On the skirts, I do that same tactic you buddy does. But I only do it from the back of the canoe. Its is not good ethics, I don't think, to do that from the front. You are cutting off the guy in the back. You can toss ahead and float up to it. If you are are in the front of my canoe and you see me making a couple of casts to the front, that is because you have been cutting me off on water you already fished.
  22. I don't use spoons on the river but I am a fan of Chrome colored cranks. And they seem to work better later in the afternoon. A chrome Hot N Tot is a must in any tackle box. Brownies love'em!
  23. Wanna bet? There are a ton of pics of flashing going on in stores. I would post some, but......
  24. I have always put the skirt on the belly hook. I got that from my dad as that was the only place he put his. The early model Tadpolly's and some other early model cranks were virturally supsepending baits 40 years before they actually made suspending baits. If you crank them down and stop, the skirt on the belly hook will blossom out like a flower. You can also get some super top water bites by just letting it set for a bit before you start cranking when you cast them. It adds a realism of life into the bait. When cranking, they fold under the bait and pulsate appearing to add a swimming action. We always used 60 count flat rubber skirts. They are hard to find now days. I have moved to silicone and flat if I can find it. It gives in my opinion the same action as the rubber. Some of the old river men around here still won't use anything but rubber.
  25. Thanks for making me look around a little for those two Kentucky pics Mitch. By doing that, I found the two pics of my dad that I wanted to post originally.
