  1. Dutch - is there any discount if you didnt throw the waders in? Not looking to offend you by trying to low ball....I just dont need the waders. I am going to be in Springfield the week of April 5th and could take them off your hands let me know. Have a good day! C4F
  2. Nice work here Phil - here is a marketing thought - put these on a DVD and sell them on line or out of the store. It works for the Bass stuff :] A question - is using this drift method better than the drift rig in that the trout are less likely to swallow the hook? Thx, C4
  3. Cant remember if I posted or not....Go Big Red!
  4. Sorry to hear about the boat seats being eaten......I didnt think otters tore stuff up like that. But I had to share that the last night that we spent at Lillley's I left a box of worms on the floor of the boat and when I went out in the morning the lid was off and the worms were gone....whatever it was did leave a nice pile of dirt on the floor. Just thought it was kinda funny......I guess that is the chance we take since we are on thier turf so to speak
  5. Thanks for the congrats guys...it was really fun - and thank you Phil for posting the pic. Brian were you having a seminar of some kind the other night at Lilley's? If that was you I really enjoyed listening to what you had to say...I wasnt in the crowd, I was the guy leaning over the rail trying to catch every word. I have to tell you that I learned alot from what you had to say. Nice work.
  6. We arrived at Lilleys last saturday and now we have to leave tomorrow but while we were here I wanted to let all know that the fishing was great! We - my wife and I - fished primarily from the Trophy area to the boat ramp...she was using pink and white power bait with good success. I couldnt buy a bite on pumped nite crawlers so I decided to do something different....I started casting and bumping a 1/8th brown jig......when i started this the size of the fish went up dramatically. When we got back to Lilleys I was in the office and telling what I had caught fish on when Lisa told me that Bill had similar success on a Cinnamon jig.....well I figure if Bill is using it I had to buy a couple and give it a try. Then the ultimate fishing event happened.....at least for me......on Friday we went just past the boat ramp 200 yards and I had cast out when i saw a flash of silver and my line started coming off my reel like crazy. I knew that I had a big one and she didnt want to come in at all....I fought her for at least 10 minutes to get her to the boat....my wife had the trout net....when I finally got her close enough I told her " you are going to need a bigger net" Thank goodness we had the old stand by. You know your marriage is pretty solid when you can "guide" your wife to where the largest Trout you have EVER caught is racing all over the palce and she keeps saying I cant see it....I tell here to watch the line.....and she says I cant see it! She is looking right and the fish is racing left....I think you ge the picture. Needless to say I uttered only one cuss word when I thought she had grabbed my line and then she finally landed the trout. For the record I was using 2 lb line ...... the Trout was 18" long weighing in at 4 lbs according to Curtis. No we didnt keep her, the fish that is - after all of the pictures and such I let her go under Lilleys dock to live to be caught another day. By the way I have went up to that area all week and bumped either a brown or cinnamon jig and the bite has been fantastic! Man I love this place!
  7. We just happened to find Back Country by accident when we were in Springfield last weekend.....I have to say it is a great place! We talked to the Elder of the family and it was a great conversation. I am not sure I could fly fish if I paid someone to cast for me but I love to catch Trout and these guys know thier stuf.....thanks for all that you do!
  8. The advice is right on - the wife is using pink/white power bait and she is doing well. I am thowing a small brown jig with great success by the boat ramp near fall creek. Must have CnR'd 15 in a 2 hour period this a.m. We do use the injected crawler - the best is to buy a syringe or they sell little plastic bottles with a needle on the tip....if you are in the area they sell them at Lilleys store. I normally hook the worm below the heart and pump up above the heart....gently or you can "pop" the worm. after that I pinch off the remaining below the hook as that keeps the fish from pecking at the bait and helps them commit.
  9. Blessings to you, the wife and your daughters family from the Cornhusker state! We now have two grand daughters......and you are right it is a new chapter in your life!
  10. Thanks Bill - once in a while I have a touch of ADD when reading. By the way saw you at Lilleys this weekend. That new boat is a nice one for sure!
  11. Thanks men - the advice is working and the Mrs is happy......and as we all know when that happens that vacation is always better!
  12. Bill thanks for the report - we will be on the Rock starting tomorrow for the next week - well that and Taney....a question.....we normally put in at the State Park.....any recommendations if there is alot of boats etc? CF86 - man sorry to hear about the deep dive on the hook....that just hurt reading it
  13. We are going to be on Taney starting tomorrow...what are they biting on below the Trophy area? I will have the Mrs C4 with me and she like to use bait Thanks in advance for all of the help!
  14. Thanks for the input Bil I appreciate it
  15. Dang Phil - reading and watching really gives me the fever! Glad I am going to be down there next week. Cant wait! BTW nice work on the vids - watching that guy catch that trout was really neat. It really adds a new dimension to the forum. So much so here I am at work posting
  16. Wow - amazing story and a great testimony to share at your next get together! It is good to hear that you reacted to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Hopefully Shawn will see it for what it is also - a blessing.
  17. Bill interesting post, it sounds a little tough right now but patience is a virtue......at least that is what i am told - I am going to be down on Table Rock next week and give it a try....who knows what the pattern might be then right? If I could catch 50 K's or unlimited whites in one trip you would find my boat floating around aimlessly with me just sitting there with a huge grin on my face stunned....... I do have one question, and I have asked it on another thread. I want to upgrage my FF on the front of my boat..I have an Eagle 480 right now any suggestons/recommendations on a resonably priced unit? Not sure if I need a GPS as I have Lowrance unit in the console. THanks again for all of your posts and thoughts...
  18. sccchhhwwwiinnggg.........nice chunck o fish there
  19. I am looking to replace my old Lowrance FF on the front of my boat...any recommendations? I am not sure that I need one that has a GPS ( I have a GPS in my console) but if I could find one that is reasonable in $$$ I might take the plunge. Thoughts or recommendations?
  20. Thanks S&M for the offer........I also noticed that you race? And if memory serves you race a 'cuda.....is that a 69?
  21. Thanks much for the information
  22. Bill thanks for the look ahead - we are going to be on Taney and TR the week of Labor day - will this still be a reasonable pattern to follow on TR? Or will the water coming in from Beaver make a dramatic change to the pattern? I will hang up and listen to the answer
  23. I think I see a Fox reality series on the horizon! Could be a real money maker!
  24. S&M - thanks for the info. As a person that gets the chance to fish TableRock once a year for one week I want to make the most out of the trip. I really appreciate your insight and the same goes for Bill and Captain Joe - I make it a point to read the posts and take notes, print out techniques etc.....I know kinda wierd but I do have the fever
  25. Phil - the site looks great. I love the rustic look. I checked out your video and thought it was well done knowing that you were the camera man and the instructor. Thanks for making it easier for us once a year folks.
