  1. I kind of liked it when it was. I know you guys are looking for the giants this lake has. I think it was funner fishing for them rather then flying up the banks looking for a big-un. It kept everyone fishing hard knowing a 3 1/2 pounder had a good chance of getting a check.
  2. Headed to Grand this weekend to fish a tourny myself. This lake is insane. The hotter the weather the hotter the fishing.
  3. There were alot of whites schooling on top in the back of old 86 cove on Sunday morning. I was fishing for big-uns but I could not help throwing in there and having some fun.
  4. Is the Long Creek Dock(Gage's) not off limits.
  5. Great topic. Lets go with a 6.68lb LM swimming up the James munching on a Jig.
  6. Man O Man Jeremy, way to go.
  7. Here are some pics if they went through.
  8. We put in at Gage's but from water the ramp at 311 looks plenty good to use. There is still some trash floating on top down that way so be careful. As for the depth, We caught all our fish from 10 to 27 foot. My buddy took some of pics on his phone and emailed them to me. I will try to post them.
  9. Fished from 5:30a.m. to 11:00a.m. this morning. Covered alot of water from the Dam to as far as I have ever been up Yokum Creek. Caught 6 keepers and lost 2 more at the boat. Fishing was alittle slow and only had 10 or so shorts with several little whites and a walleye mixed in. Had some nice fish though with the biggest weighing in at 6-7. We had NO topwater action. We caught our fish on jigs, crankbaits, and c-rigs. We were pre-fishing for a tourny tomorrow. Could of used these then.
  10. Saw a 5 footer floating by Cape Fair Marina Sunday. There was a film of trash up by the Virgin bluff stretching all the way across the lake then also. The carp were having a hay day from one side of the lake to the other side in the debree. They were also thrashing around in the back of any pocket. If the gar deal goes bad you might go after all the carp. That does sound like fun though.
  11. Man, sounds like alot of fun.
  12. Agreed +1 And Arsenal, what a sport you are.
  13. Ended up fishing around Cape Fair with the water having a very good color to it. There was alittle trash to aviod though. Water temp. was 70-72. Put in early and fished till 10:30. Bite seemed alittle slow to me. Caught a nice 4lb black and a 3lb KY on the c-rig. The longer the pause the more bites you got. Caught a few on the DD22 also but with no size. Tried the flipping thing for just a little bit with only a few small males. I think later in the day when the sun got up this bite would have picked up.
  14. Was thinking of going to cape fair tomorrow to fish. Just wondering how the water looked and how much junk was floating around. thanks
  15. Caught some huge 4lb sows around Cow Creek today. They were up and feeding for about 10 minutes on top. After the topwater fun I went back to the KY's but what a blast while it lasted.
  16. Eric, I would'nt call it a greed rig. Now if you start putting a school of flukes on there and catching your limit on one cast, now I would say that was greedy.
  17. Sounds good Mark, I sent you a PM with some more questions.
  18. It would be a great lure for your wife. If she can throw a baitcaster I would use it with atleast 15lb mono. The baits are very easy to use. It has a wider wobble than the redfin but sometimes that is what the fish wants.
  19. Nice win over a field of nightime junkies.
  20. Hard to go wrong with a Falcon Eakins rod for the jig. I also use it for many other things to. It will help alot if you use a quality Flurocarbon line like Seagur.
  21. They are extremely easy to wake. They run true out of the box. The eye on the front of the bait can be mangled when you catch a fish but it is easy to move back. You can adjust the eye to make the bait wake extremely slow also. Great bait and perfect for women and children also.
  22. I've had my best luck on little white perch. The yellow ones will work to but the white ones are the best.
  23. Techo, glad to see you and the miss's had a good day of fishing. You still beat me on your best weight. I fished from Shell Knob to Big M (7:30 to 12:30) and caught alot of fish as I assume everyone did. I did not have much size. I got to laughing when I got home I had 10 different rods and setups on the front deck with all of them catching fish. I just had trouble catching the big ones.
  24. I believe it was 14 something. You know it was tough when the Fann brothers only had 2 keepers.
  25. What a crappy Denjac. You are not alone on the tough day. Fished the Joe Bass tourny today and it was tough for most including us with only a few keepers all day. Clear skys and little to know wind with super clear water is a recipe for disaster.
