Went there yesterday evening got there around 6:15 threw white swimming minnows caught 4 hybrids, 1 white and snagged a smaller paddlefish that I got up to the surface before he got off (hook came out) and a nice carp. Weather was perfect
I usually always go back to the my favorite of Duck Teriyaki. Marinate with Teriyaki or whatever asian sauce you like cook medium rare then remove and cook up a bunch of veggies - onions, broccoli, peppers, carrots and whatever else you like.
If you have a reservation you will hunt out of one of their blinds I think at 4 rivers they are all walk in blinds. No idea on what pool is doing better. You can always call them and they will usually send you in the right direction
They don't have a stream exhibit with minnows and darters, but some good freshwater tanks with gamefish and suckers. The most impressive tank to me is the Piranha and Neon and Cardinal Tetra tank with the live plants. I could stare at it for hours
Yeah not sure how trained the aquarium staff is and I'm sure they were told to stock the tanks when it first opened ready or not. I think they lost their huge freshwater ray in the walkthrough tunnel along with I know a few giant crabs.
Went the 14th to the duck park and had some decent success, thought that Sunday would produce too but no wind and the ducks didn't want to finish. Hopefully this next week produces some tasty dinner from the skies
I was chosen for the archery hunt at Caney Mtn this year and went out for a little scouting Sunday afternoon. Heard a few birds and they actually called back fairly easily. Well woke up early to see thunderstorms rolling through Monday morning so I slept in and got out there around 8.... and I heard the sound of silence not a single bird in the whole refuge said a thing. Talked to a few other hunters and they heard one bird call once and I think it was the same bird. Wonder if the storm shut them up. Saw a few lone hens hoping a tom was with them but nope nada nothing. Oh well we can't all be as successful as the BilletHeads
Hadn't been night fishing at Taneycomo in years so I bundled up and headed down to the dam last night and got on the water around 8. Was throwing small cranks and after I finally found the rhythm they wanted I caught quite a few and all really good solid fish. One bonus was I caught a Smallmouth, I've heard of them up there but never seen one caught. I couldn't believe I was the only one fishing
