  1. I joined the party on the river, might as well join it here.....Can't wait for the next one....
  2. And you relocated them why?
  3. Would REALLY BE NICE.....but that would cause someone at CU to have to do something out of their routine......
  4. Nothing wrong with eating an occasional bass. They're fairly tasty.
  5. Some buddies and I have been doing a 'tournament' amongst ourselves for close to 20 years now on Stockton. We have always used total inches of gamefish (no drum, bluegill, green sunnys, etc.). It has worked well for us even though we're just having fun. "He who has most inches wins!"
  6. Of blown chances: I blew my one opportunity at the musky so far..... It'll be boring until I stab one in the face. Then it will be chaos most likely...... That was a hell of a good fish Smalliefly. (beers clinking emoticon)
  7. I got a string of em'...... Strip-pit bass with a mouth the size of a coffee can.... Another bass with a mouth the size of a coffee can that jumped and spit the hook at the boat.... A huge brown that threw a rapala..... TWO 40-in-class pike in 30 minutes that ate a fly but hook-sets found no meat.... A musky on the fly about a month ago..... Tangent: Giant Booner 10-point typical that trotted by (could not get him to stop) about 10 years ago....
  8. Screech owl.
  9. Wanna go Saturday?
  10. I saw this in the Conservationist — would have been nice to see exactly where the management areas have been extended to. I'm good with 18" length minimum and one in possession on most of the medium to small streams in the state for LM and SM. JMO.
  11. In for updates.
  12. Hi. Like Smallieflys says, lots of fun catching fish other than trout on the fly rod. Lots of Youtube videos out there that will help you with fishing for given species/locales as far as equipment and techniques. I would like to spend an entire summer in Yellowstone, so I would make the most of that as far as fishing if I were you. What weight fly rod/s do you have?
  13. Guess I need to go Musky fishing.
  14. Nuckin futz.

Might be a good time to just leave them alone.
  16. I'll just have to go back north for the pike. In the meantime I have musky relatively close by.....
  17. I've caught plenty of them Old Plug and I disagree. I prefer catching them on the fly rod, and they make great runs but don't jump as often as bass do. I always say they fight you twice — once to the boat, and once in the boat. Unless I want to take a picture of them or keep them, I'll often release them in the water so life is easier for both of us. They happen to be fine eating as a side benefit. I was mainly interested in seeing if any are close enough for a day-trip, but I guess not.
  18. Pretty much what I expected. The only two reservoirs I know of that they were stocked was Thomas Hill and Stockton. I think MDC may have stocked them for a longer period at Thomas Hill than they did at Stockton. Apparently Stockton didn't support the fish well for some reason, but I remember as recently as the 1990's you could still have a decent crack at them on TH. The state record is listed as a 18lb 9oz'er from Stockton caught in 1975. I've read sketchy reports off and on for years about them being in the Osage, a few of these reports were of fairly large fish. If there was any truth to those reports then the fish were too large to be chain pickerel. It would seem to me that the Osage would be too warm a stream for them in the summer unless some spring-fed tributaries provide some refuge during the heat. I'm having my doubts.
  19. I think they quit stocking them in Thomas Hill. MDC page for that lake makes no mention of Pike.
  20. MDC reports the lower Osage as having a population of Northern Pike. Not digging for anyone's deep dark secrets, but am interested in knowing if anyone here targets them with any success or has caught many as incidental catches?
  21. More recently than you, buddy boy!
  22. I can't find this lake around here...
  23. Photography of fishing is cool.
