I'm so glad got to visit and pray with him and Trixie last week in the hospital. He has certainly been a fixture in this area for a lot of years, I'll miss him.
From this weeks other fisheries biological news I learned there are 100 million sharks killed each year. That works out to about 270,000+ per day. That I find harder to believe than 35% bass mortality.
I drug one of these heads up at LOZ. It was rigged with Elastec and I like to never got it off. It has the best keeper I've found on any head for the Zman stuff.
I remember running into the MDC guys doing that study in the Kings. Was very discouraging knowing there was a three lb bass in a little cut and not being able to get him to bite.
Something I've done on my Navionics map is highlighted the 25-30 foot zone and try to find fish around that depth. Seems to work the biggest part of the year.
In all the tournaments I've fished as a co angler from fruit jars , BASS federation, the old BASS top 100s, CPAA, Heartland etc, I've had one bad experience. If it interests you give it a try.
So which is it.
My absolute favorite SB/BB rod was a 7 foot MMF rod paired with straight braid. Can't remember ever losing a fish on that rod, they ate the baits extremely well. Unfortunately it was a custom blank no longer available.
