usually going up stream on feeder creeks can get you in areas that the fish will bite during a turn over situation..I know it screws up the fishing for a while....didn't think it would happen this early...but this isn't a normal year ether
-
sarcasm dude sarcasm......I don't think ether would trash a lappy over much of anything.......besides...I am sure most anyone on here would share an adult beverage or two shooting the breeze on a multitude or subjects..the commonalities we all share...love of the outdoors...even though we may disagree with each other on some of the details....just saying

in high water years, is it the disruption of thermocline areas that cause this? or nutrient loads introduced depleting O2 at the fish's preferred temp ranges? and does PH play a roll in the fish's ability to tolerate/survive those conditions? (up take of O2)

people are naive to think fish are not poached for profit, its a constant... trout served on a Branson Buffet could very easily get taken from Taney, who would know?...we have so few CO to enforce regulations Major fish-poaching scheme busted in northern Minnesota, authorities say Ten men indicted in scheme involving buying and selling of fish. http://www.startribune.com/n-minnesota-walleye-poaching-scheme-broken/202443861/ MDC AND FEDERAL AGENTS SNAG MAJOR PADDLEFISH POACHING OPERATION https://mdc.mo.gov/newsroom/mdc-and-federal-agents-snag-major-paddlefish-poaching-operation Man busted selling speckled trout, redfish, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says http://www.nola.com/outdoors/index.ssf/2014/07/man_busted_selling_speckled_tr.html Central Valley Fish Trafficking Ring Sentenced Following CDFW Bust https://cdfgnews.wordpress.com/2017/07/24/central-valley-fish-trafficking-ring-sentenced-following-cdfw-bust/ Charges in Great Lakes fisheries sting http://www.jsonline.com/story/news/blogs/proof-and-hearsay/2017/01/24/charges-great-lakes-fisheries-sting/96957900/ Well Known Dunsmuir Trout Poacher Busted, Convicted, and Blown Out of Town http://yobiadventures.com/Well-Known-Dunsmuir-Trout-Poacher-Busted-Convicted-and-Blown-Out-of-Town Man Arrested For Selling Catfish On Craigslist http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2013/06/29/man-arrested-for-selling-catfish-on-craigslist/

if it was legal to buy and sell bass in the USA food industry, you can count on bass poaching, if its out of the USA no problem..I'd hate to see gill nets in some back cove on TR

well a poll in the court of public opinion would say so....as an example is a Cow nose ray shoot in Patuxent River in Maryland an event held for 20 years has the below video go viral, and makes CBS, CNN news then it gets brought up in Maryland state legislature.....All it took as ONE video JUST one..the vote wasn't even close. Maryland Senate Bill 268 Cownose Ray Fishery Management Plan and Moratorium on Contests MD State Legislature page for SB268 Summary Requiring the Department of Natural Resources to prepare a specified fishery management plan for the cownose ray species; requiring the Department to prepare a specified fishery management plan for the cownose ray species on or before December 31, 2018, subject to available funding; prohibiting a person from sponsoring, conducting, or participating in a specified cownose ray fishing contest in State waters until July 1, 2019. https://legiscan.com/MD/votes/SB268/2017 http://www.bayjournal.com/article/md_house_passes_cownose_ray_fishing_contest_moratorium?fref=gc&dti=215349148994705 news coverage^ and this from the Smithsonian Institution online publication The Insider http://insider.si.edu/2016/04/cownose-rays-aquitted-not-guilty-decimating-chesapeake-oysters/?fref=gc&dti=215349148994705 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2H-aY-5s6I the Video ^ what do you thinks going to happen when fish other than bighead and silver carp get on national TV? the image of those fish the kids feed at the marina being chipper shredded and turned into compost? The LOZ/beaver/TR party-wake making crowd will call their congress rep and Maryland type ban comes here...I don't want to see that...but we keep giving the Antis the ammo to take away our outdoor sports.....

Correct sir..but us "dipshit" fisheries types can't do math.... right wrench? waddington ny a town of less than 1000 people hosts a youth carp event every year that brings over $500k each year to the local economy, thats JUST one event..over the year euro carp anglers spend and support they tiny towns economy, probably due to UK actor who plays Draco Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies Tom Felton http://www.allamericanangler.com/wdt-potter.html I will very soon....but it will be it such a way it my honey hole can't be shot up again I think bow-fishing has its place... I would love to see Stockton thinned of its population of 5-8#ers..since the Tiger Muskies and pike are no longer stocked the Ave size of the commons has gotten a lot smaller...you just don't see the bigger carp like the lake once had..I'd like to blame Bfing...but the sizes were getting smaller long before the growth of Bfing
-
13k WEIGHED IN not shot..they ONLY weigh in the best 20 fish from a 4 man team....perhaps we can get the numbers of pounds sent to the organic fertilizer factory? ...granted the observations are anecdotal... but the impact is clear the Average size of fish are getting smaller..and we are talking ONE event on the white river chain...... Bowfishing Association of Missouri, July 29-30 Ultimate Bowfishing Championship, Springfield, MO, May 20-21 The U.S. Open Bowfishing Championship (Ultimate BFC Qualifier), Springfield, MO......so thats just events on the white river chain, and not the amounts shot in "buddy events"...feel free to add up those totals and see 150k pounds of fish is light....as far as the impacts on the fishery....no-one know because it isn't being tracked.."yet" see above....just like fish that end up dumped along the side of the road, or in a ramp trash can on Taney...that don't get counted....fishing for common carp and buffalo has nose dived since the Bfing tourneys began.
-
Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats US Open Bowfishing Championship. The tournament featured a Big-20 (largest weight for a 20-fish limit) format. ok keep up here there is math involved.... 4 guys shoot a total of 20 fish each, legally that can ONLY shoot 20 buffalo or gar, they can shoot as many carp as they want, so the numbers could be inflated far over that because they cull out the biggest 20 fish on each 4 man teams boat..follow?.... so since 2013---thats 5 years.. .if only 250 boat shoot and kill JUST 250# of fish each x 250 boats that = 62,500 fish per tourney JUST for that event alone...thats 312,500 pounds of fish.... there are several Bfing tourneys each year on the white river change of lakes 150k is a very lowball estimate because not everyone shoots 250#.... some can shoot way more than what is weighed in, they just weigh the biggest 20 way more than 250 boats compete on the average over the last 5 years I think this spring 900 competed, so at 150k over 5 years, I was figuring light...real numbers are far far over that

If one was to raise any Micropterus species for food the The spotted bass (Micropterus punctulatus) would be a good choice because of the more useable flesh for the same length. selectively breeding for faster growth would be the goal as they wouldn't be shooting for max size like a sport fishing application..stripers are pond raised for the table now, so spotted bass are not as much as a stretch as one would first think. http://www.fishandboat.com/Transact/AnglerBoater/AnglerBoater2003/JanuaryFebruary/Documents/paddlefish.pdf for some reason intelligence offends you, the scientific process has given you the very means you put food on your table, and a roof over your head, the laymen such as yourself many times doesn't understand the process that scientific advancements are made in all fields not just fisheries biologists, to get a masters or a PHD you must have a project...some lead to wonderful discoveries.....I can post all kinds of cleaver pissy slams, but since intelligence makes you salty, ill keep making you google words you don't understand

Fishinwrench, its those "dipchit" fisheries wizard's boneheaded ideas that figured out how to spawn paddlefish, or figure out how to breed triploid brown trout that reach 25# in 5 years, just to name a few that effect Missouri anglers....why are you so salty? I think I read somewhere bass are raised in south america as a food fish, I am sure a document is available somewhere, read they blend foodstuffs and amino acids to get the most growth in a pellet diet.... not as easy with bass it seems...as far as winter being a better time to eat fish, its usually that way with any species, bass would probably be no different

paw paw ice cream! YUM!!!! -
tell me about it, the Brits I know here say how blessed we are on so many places to fish and so cheaply, many spots here you can catch 30-40 carp a day...granted 8-15#ers but over there they may fish a week for 3-4 bites....they even have to pay for license per rod!... many take fishing vacations here to the USA.. Austin, and lake fork in Tx have lots of Euro fishing tourists, guides and all a big one now is Dale Hollow Lake, TN...was a few budding ones in our lakes here but the Bass-pro Bow-fishing tourney has pretty much killed that, 5 years of killing off 150k pounds of the biggest fish each year will do that. The middle stretches of Taney was a spot for some exceptional big carp...couple of the brits I know don't come here anymore, because the big fish seem to be gone from the areas they used to fish, in the small town of Waddington, NY , just 1000 population, carp anglers spend over a Million bucks a summer fishing there considering bank carp anglers don't toss 5 foot wakes, it would have been good for the economy here..mom and pop tackle shops do well in the carp tackle business, a nice niche because wall-mart and bass pro are not going to carry boilees any time soon

Apparently you can have a career path in carp venue management..as its taught in Universities in the UK

Atlantic salmon are on my bucket list...very interesting fish..From my understanding to get to fish for them you need to have a voucher..they sell them on eBay for £80-£200 but it seems most go to Scotland, spring run cost £359 or $473.97 ---> http://scotiafishing.com/packages/salmon-fishing-scotland not apples to apples but as far as cheap to fish, I guess it depends...day ticket(24hrs) can be had fairly cheap (for the UK) £27.50 http://www.fish-on-friday.com/2014/01/10-best-day-ticket-waters-in-the-uk/ Many join club waters or Syndicates where you pay for a membership £695 - £345.00 about $917.57- $455.48 depending if you fish just during the week or weekends... plus monthly dues to timeshare fish in smallish ponds http://www.xlcarp.com/membership-information Then to get a prime date like Gigantica you might need a 2 year window to get a spot----> http://www.gigantica-carp.com/availability Prime weeks are £595.00 or about $785.55 big pressured carp can takes days before you can get a bite...one reason its such a challenge Carp gear can be extremely upscale Daiwa Tournament Basiair QD are $ 1143.95 (japan) each and typically euro setups are 3 rods etc.. matching new Basia AGS rods are £800 or $1056.20 each so about $6600 bucks and thats before you add rod pod, with alarms...$1200.. nets, slings carp mats etc.. can you get cheap carp gear? YUP but its like saying a guy gets into bass fishing in a 14 foot flat bottom with a 10 horse merc.....you can but.... The mental picture of a guy in a beat up lawn chair, cheap zebco reel, in a forked stick cut from the bank, using a wheaties and jello dough ball on a treble hook. isn't the reality in American Carp fishing over the last 20 years, Brits who came here with their passion, shared it with American friends and kind of went from there...the history of how carp fishing exploded in the UK is interesting and went from nothing to multi billion dollar a year business....Entire stocking industries feed the carp fishing passion....fish are expensive some even micro chipped....hard to imagine a lake manager have $500k just in fish stocks http://rhfisheries.com/fishfarm
