  1. funny you say that....its my understanding some in the bow orgs seek to expand what they can shoot in Missouri and Arkansas...with the " harvest is harvest regardless how" and how they can already stab "game fish" underwater in Arkansas anyways that would mean the newspaper PAID YOU for your OP-ED...its up to you the reader to take that info for what its worth, even though I personally do not agree with a lot of LDs views, I get offended when those with a $ interest seek to silence him. in that we agree LD is (at least in his writings) not making a legal case..but his writing style isn't that ...its casual, like two people chating at the diner yatching about taxes or city government ...kinda like comparing a joe rogan pod cast to a meet the press interview...but like I said earlier, its enough of a threat I would eat and venison for a while, and people I know are doing the same till the dust settles and we have better answers, as far as his slam on MDC agents, all I can speak of is my personal experience and in my 58 years had one just bad experience on a short walleye that wasn't short....I know people that work for the MDC and AGAF they are some of the most honorable people I have ever known and they do their jobs for the love of the outdoors, not for the $ thats for sure, are there bad apples sure but with any org they have processes in place to police them self...
  2. yah takes a spin, yah takes yah chances...
  3. makes you wonder, as a advertising person we have a long history of $ trying to mask things bad for our health for the mighty dollar.and the 1st to blow the whistle are people just like LD, don't know how this will pan out, but looking at it isn't a bad thing, is LD full of caca? perhaps only time will tell
  4. I will say this, I wouldn't be eating ANY venison ANY time soon...not taking any chances and I am sure I won't be the only one. its not like pro buy deer hunting paraphernalia advocates aren't getting ahead of this while they can...big $ at stake here,
  5. Luke Nichols of youtube "catfish and carp" fame & one of our Carp anglers group...posted this video of a recent trip to the UK he took with family fishing for carp and rainbow trout, found this interesting and thought I would share.
  6. Kirk Kirkland is good people and a great guide, gator gar are a great adversary, its amazing how old those fish get
  7. Wrench, many diseases have devastated populations, in the 14th century the black plague took out an estimated 200 million persons...dutch elm disease has about wiped out elm trees...chestnut blight has obliterated a once very common tree in north America....a fungus called "chytrid" has wiped out many frogs and salamanders populations...Bats: White-nose syndrome...Snake fungal disease...Colony collapse disorder in honey bees... we live in a time we have the resources to study and perhaps effect changes, its not glamorous, but its work that we as good stewards SHOULD do... I guess my science background makes these issues important to me as poor water pump design is to you...CWD has the potential to change the hunting world, we are just getting started learning about CWD and I am sure we will learn a great deal more....IMHO money well spent
  8. thats a healthy looking fish for sure
  9. perhaps you are right , but my take on what LD was saying was that the MDC was trying to protect the deer hunting industry by sugar coating the CWD threat, the careers of many in the MDC are contingent on deer hunting being a extremely popular past time, and the dangers of even touching an infected deer could kill you...if true that could crush the deer hunting industry (gun /bow/clothingfeeders etc/sales) and he insinuated that people like Bass pro shops influences MDC dogma right or wrongly, he has some points that shouldn't be dismissed at face value and worthy of a closer look. to what extent the private sector has influence over State fish/wildlife decisions is debatable. IMHO the state SHOULD listen to economic concerns...its not mutually exclusive to have both, its not the state preserve commission but CONSERVATION or the WISE use of the resource, and the includes the cutting of timber as a renewable resource. does corruption occur? sure... but to what extent? from my experiences the MDC and AGFC has been honorable 99% of the time and compared to most states do a great job
  10. yes! bluff banks near the dam are good but most bluff banks are, lite spinning gear 4lb test a plain jighead with a 3rd of a crawler crickets the same way if you can find a place that sells them...look for changes in the bluff rock slides changes in depth or trees that have fell in or old stumps... just let it sink and slowly I mean REALLY SLOW crawl it back start with a 16th size head, perhaps move to an 8th crappie size not bass side hooks....I used 3/32 mushroom heads home cast... you will pick up a few bonus walleyes and some really nice smallmouths...use green line stay away from the fluro line, also keep the wind at your back, makes a difference
  11. https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/metro/missouri-supreme-court-shoots-down-captive-deer-hunting-operations/article_8eda4801-424c-5a11-83e2-bacca78bfd72.html the retort to LD in link makes you wonder, I'd bet a great deal is spent for people to come shoot Mr Hills high fence herd....not just $225..LD has a point "10. “Trophy hunters from out of state pay a tremendous amount to shoot a deer in Missouri with big antlers, and turn the meat over to be eaten by the poor.” Hunters from out of state pay $225 to hunt a buck. That is about half of what they pay in Illinois, Iowa or Kansas."
  12. This is the kind of thing both Missouri and Arkansas should get kudos for not many places you can catch world record class walleyes and they live in our back yard! https://mdc.mo.gov/conmag/2018-08/missouri’s-weird-walleye
  13. sometimes the craziness reported turns out to be true...here is a link to some interesting things that turned out to be true https://www.rd.com/culture/conspiracy-theories-that-turned-out-to-be-true/
  14. here is a perfect example on how some funds get spent, yet most never know http://www.lakenewsonline.com/news/20180723/matching-funds-distributed-by-missouri-department-of-conservation
  15. Let me be clear here, I posted this for information, I feel most of the states work is good, yet there is always the potential for corruption after living in the south where hog hunting has been going on a very long time they can overpopulation so fast its hard for most people here to understand...they are hard on turkeys and will catch and eat fawns and until you hunt hogs, you will not appreciate just how savvy that can be! as a note perhaps this is what set Larry D off on his anti state mantra
  16. Thought I would share, learned a few things from this Article
  17. nice fish
  18. they will get sued, I am sure lawyers are lining up already...
  19. I watched the sinking video, I wonder if they had a working bilge? 30 people all in panic mode how many could not swim...I rode the ducks as a kid all those years ago...hits home on how this can happen so easy...lives will be changed forever, my prayers go out to all involved
  20. My State Biologist ( this one is in TX) friend shared a state "work project" these are common in the UK to facilitate shore angling, the other pic is a long time CAG acquaintance Brian Nordberg who traveled to TN recently to land this mid 30's Mirror (that lake is VERY much like our white river chain of lakes.
