Another addition: My dad did start killing them later in the day with a whacky rigged (small jig head perpendicular through the center) senko type bait. He would cast it, bounce it a bit and BOOM!
-
I forgot to add we also used a black/blue havoc beaver tail type bait (I can't remember the name) on the same heads.
-
Hinged jig heads. I was using the 1/4oz Arkie brand (available at Walmart for $1.97/3) and my father was using the slightly larger biffle bug football heads. I never fished with these little jigs (or the menace) until Davis tore it up on Tablerock. While the Rage Tail stuff isn't terribly tough, it works very, very well!

We started the morning up near the dam before taking out, grabbing a bite and putting back in at Roark to fish until about 7:30. It was a beautiful day with water (fairly clear up near the dam) in the high 70s. The fish seemed to be stacked on the rocky, gradual flats 30+ yards off main lake points as well around submerged tree. In total, the three of us pulled in roughly 75-80 bass, with two walleye. While we didn't land any hogs, the vast majority of the fish were in the 12-14" range, which are simply a blast to catch. As a side note, I have never seen smallmouth as dark as they were on Tuesday! As for lures, I was so impressed with the Rage Tail menace grub, I went out and bought a pack of the Rage Tail Cut-R worms, which look like a Senko with the a single signature rage tail. It flat out killed! (and I ran out by day's end) Here's a little lure rundown, with the majority of the fish caught on soft plastics and jigs: (nothing new here for Stockton) - yellow magic popper - Bill Dance signature popper - black buzz bait - white and chartreuse chatter bait - black and blue jig w/trailer - Rage Tail Menace grub, watermelon red and a blue smokey color - Rage Tail Cut-R, hard candy - texas rigged (two walleye on this one) - Senko (or your favorite brand), green pumpkin - split shot/carolina rigged - shakey head, watermelon red - on shaky head standup jig

A week ago today it was transition banks; chunk rock to pea gravel.

We recently put a 55lb MinnKota on the boat, so this one came off. While the MinnKota has 12 more lbs of thrust, this guy is faster at 43! It has the standard 5 speed settings for Motorguide, as well as the switch from tortoise to hare - so regular and faster speeds in all 5 settings, as well as the standard Motorguide plug. All is in great shape and functions properly. The motor and I are in Bolivar. 4177736474. The first $150 takes it! Thanks, Rich SOLD

Bass Report 4.11.2014 (Big Bass Inside)
sixstring531 replied to sixstring531's topic in Stockton Lake
Pics are corrected - and it looks like my brother decided to join just for this post! (jnjn1980) -
My father and I took to Stockton at sun up and immediately started putting em in the boat! It should be no surprise transition banks (chunk to pea-gravel) are where they're at right now. By days end we had 50+ largemouth, with close to half being keepers. As if a ton of good fishing isn't enough for one day, my dad landed this lady monster just before we headed home: (7lb4oz, 21.5")All fish came on shaky-heads, vintage warts, lipless cranks and menace grubs.

I am by no means an expert, but from what I understand you want a prop that maintains, or is lower than, your engine manufacturers recommended wide open throttle (WOT) rpm when wide open. I know everyone has a preference - hole shot vs top speed - but as a fisherman with not a lot of money, I try to maintain the motor the way the manufacturer suggests. Right now we're in a 99 ProTeam 185 with a merc 75. The recommended WOT is 5200rpm (or around there) and the prop is a 3-blade stainless steel 13x21, which is two inches larger than the stock 13x19 merc has on their 75. It has an excellent hole shot and can run 40+ just under WOT. This is acceptable to me. I think the rule of thumb on pitch is every inch is 200 rpm...(or something like this) Someone else can speak up and correct me here.

Great report Danger! We were out on Friday as well (I think we may have run into you guys in the back of a small arm) and picked up 20+ largemouth/Kentucky and one giant crappie. I had one on a wiggle wart, 14 on a McStick (sexy shad colors) and my dad had three on an A-Rig and the rest on another McStick. Most were shorts with one 4lb6oz bass (really long) and the 15-16" crappie coming on the McStick. It was only our second trip to TableRock and we had a blast!

Tablerock. Big Indian Little Indian And Camp Area. Boat Breakins
sixstring531 replied to Billfo's topic in Table Rock Lake
We had a little theivery the first time I ever fished Tablerock in April. We stayed at Stillwater and rented a slip. After we came in for the night we locked all boxes and ended up using an external battery charger for the batteries, since the one on the boat was having issus. Thirty minutes after we left the dock (around midnight) their cameras catch a lone male pull up in his car, walk down and get in our boat. He tools around and takes off with the charger. They then checked the other docks and he visited all of them. Stillwater had locked gates on their boat rental dock, but not on the dock they rent slips from. I understand if someone comes in by water, but the dude just walked down and got in our boat. He could just as easily walk up to our boat if it were on the trailer in the parking lot and dug around, though the lights and proximity to the condos may have scared him off. While it ticks me off, no one needs to die for stolen boat equipment. They'll get theirs in the end and I have insurance (if they steal enough anyway). I do think the cameras were effective - they at least caught his car and I assume his license plate. -
1St Annual Morrisville Baptist Buddy Bass Tournament
sixstring531 replied to SHammons's topic in Stockton Lake
Great tournament today! We can't wait to fish the Morrisville FBC Fall Classic. We hooked into about 30 fish and the three biggest got off at the boat - they were easily 3-4lbers, but there are no points for getting close to the boat. I did tag a 5-6lb carp, which was a first when fishing Chompers. We caught all our fish on black/blue jig and pig and Chompers skirted grubs. Great day for fishing and I'm glad there was a great turnout. -
Just read your other report, 9lb -- I forgot to add Chompers grubs (green with flek) to my list. I caught the majority of mine on that and a carolina rig craw. Anyone know if the bass have spawned, and if so, when? Like I said in my initial post, none of the males looked like they had touched a nest.

See everyone there! -
Sorry - bass, yes. Is there any other freshwater gamefish?

Put in at the bridge on H (sorry, don't know the ramp name) at sun up and fished until 3 pm. We went to chicken rock and had 12-15 by about 10:30. The sun came out and fish went cold. We went from there to Son's Creek, then back to the chicken rock area and a few spots further up that arm. The fish just flat turned off. In all I think we caught about 20, all males with only 2 being keepers. I'm not sure where they're at in the spawning cycle, but none of our fish had signs they'd been clearing nests. Water temps went from 58-61.6. We caught most fish on craw, jig'n pig, creature and whacky worms.
-
Yeah - we didn't leave the rods and locked all equipment accept for the charger ($40 external one), which we had to use. The onboard charger currently needs some TLC so I brought this one along. The resort even has the guy on tape getting in our boat and taking it. It's not a huge loss, but I do find it interesting a rental slip does not have a gate on it. If he arrived in a boat, that would be one thing, but the dude just walked in from dry land half an hour after we left around 12:30 am. He then proceeded to the other docks at the resort. They have him and his vehicle on video, so hopefully they can at least stop the guy from doing it again. Regardless, fishing was awesome, lake was awesome, can't wait to do it again!

We had similar experiences on the 3rd, 4th and 5th. Nothing huge (a little over three lbs was the largest) all on McSticks. I also found most fish were picking it up on the pause (sometimes 10 seconds) I did have three bass chasing the A-rig (we're talking 18ft visibility on Wednesday afternoon) in the Jakes area. It was our first ever trip to Table Rock, and despite cold weather, lower fish count and someone stealing from our boat at the resort slip (they only got the battery charger) the first night, it was quite nice. We're looking forward to another go around. fat little booger

Table Rock Lake Current Bass Fishing Report 3-4-13
sixstring531 replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
I've never fished Table Rock - but am thinking about heading up to Stillwater because of the condo deal. I will be bringing the boat - is there good bassin around there or should I look elsewhere so I'm not spending so much time getting to a quality spot? -
We had the same experience on Friday. We caught around 40 bass; plenty of "just barely" keepers - one almost 4lber - several smallmouth, one kentucky and two walleye. We threw buzzbaits in the morning, then white and chartruese spinners (walley on a white spinner - go figure) and finished the day with black/blue jig and pigs and 6" BPS Stick-O. They were anywhere from right on the bank (literally) to around 10-15'. We also fished timber and bluffs, along with rocky coves and main lake points. It was windy but we caught a lot of fun-sized fish. We really didn't catch any small ones.

Good Samaritan Boys Ranch is the beneficiary, but it says it's a buddy bass tournament.

I can't seem to get the link to work. Any chance it's incorrect?
