  1. just geting back into bass fishing and and am not current on things.will be fishing out of cape fair nov 5th. I know a lot depends on weather and water temp but what are some patterns I can expect to incounter then. I will be fishing out of the back of the boat so a lot will depend on how the boater fishes just wan't to be somewhat prepaired. I know there is a wealth of knowlege here and apreciate suggestions, I will also be using the search feature on here. my strengthes are jigs and soft plastics thanks
  2. glad your better and good to see you on the forum
  3. had a decent day for bass, we put together 14lb 10oz. 4lb 4oz was the largest, top water early and then a varietyn of things the rest of the day, fish came from 1ft to 12ft deep. one boat in our group had a 6lb 9oz lm, all fish released where they were caught and not hauled around all day
  4. another invasive species in our missouri waters, 1st time to hear of this one. hopefully it doesn't have the impact that zebra mussels have
  5. one of my memories is sitting on the bank fishing with my father at the mouth of prarrie creek and white river, now at the bottom of beaver lake
  6. thanks for posting and yes I remember hearing of Penny. I often remenise of the days I fished with my father in the 1950's and eaely 60's before girls and adult life got in the way
  7. sorry about the loss of equipment and so glad there was no personal injury
  8. champ nailed it, the money is the problem
  9. need one of those mounted on the bass boat for the wake boats and jet skis
  10. super river fish, and I bet she's still swimming in that river
  11. we are not the leaders, table rock bass club has used a system like this for well over 20 years. so kudus to them for getting it started in the tb area
  12. in the club I'm ln we measure and release and write it on a score card. the weigh in is the score cards. there are numerous small derbys every weekend and that type of system would elemenated a great deal of the floaters. floaters are a blight on our sport and should be looked at with disgust and contempt. if a tournament is producing floaters then they are a contributor to the problem
  13. I'm shocked by that answer from you ROFLOL
  14. when the bite is extremely slow [which is usually when I go] and the fish won't hit a power bait what is your go to bait. should add bass fishing. mine is a tube, I will varry the rate of fall and retrieve and if that fails, well just enjoy the time on the water
  15. I wonder if the area where these were filmed is still as pristine or if man and development have ruined it. anyone know
  16. yep, the modern reels do tend to spoil us. I remember when a shakesoear president was top pf the line, we've certainly come a long way
  17. aint a better forum and nicer folks ANYWHERE
  18. good looking colors, I could never get the colors to come out right when I tried pouring soft plastic
  19. did an internet search and you can get the complete set on dvd for about the same price as getting them converted. it doesn't matter how accomplished a fishermen you are there is some fantastic footage on these
  20. found hidden away in odds and ends closet two vhs tapes, Big Mouth and Big Mouth Forever by Glen Lau. I'm going to get them put on dvd. if you have never seen them they will blow your mind
  21. not to nock your tackle but it has always been my experience that the drag on the zebco is very inconsistant and sometimes reqires a hard pull to get it started. they are just not dependable for real lit line and will work much better with 8 or 10lb. when storing my reels between fishing trips I always back the drags off so they don't take a set. I know thats old school but it's what I have always done
  22. when you up the size of the hooks and to keep the hooks from tangling is it better to change the front or the back hook
  23. some good advice above, hang in there and with rooster tails and crank baits try sweeping the rod instead of a hard jerk you need a little to get the hook penetrated
  24. which direction from bridge are you allowed to walk and fish
  25. shout out to the fellas that answered this with such great info
