What happened to the early morning top water bite this year?Is it just me or what, I just cant get anything going this year a few here and there but no big schools of fish on top.I sure hope the top water bite is on this Fall.Anyone else have this problem..or is it just here on Lake Norfork....

Try the cove at Henderson park just inside of the the boat docks.There are lots of carp in there and easy shore fishing.

Spent 1/2 day on Norfork Tuesday and this time I fished from Walkers cove north caught 11 largemouth,1 White bass and 1 Smallmouth on a wake bait and Berkley Havic Pit Boss baits. 4 overs,1 on the wake bait and 3 on the Pit Boss.Lake level is still falling.Water temp was 79-81

There running about 14" to 17" and about 1/2 the fish are over 15" really not to bad for Norfork.My big one Tuesday was 17 3/4" and went 3.4 lbs.I am using a 7' heavy X-fast rod with 15lb line to jerk them out of the trees and brush.Ham and I are going out this morning so I may have a update.This pattern has been working for me since the rain stopped but has been slowing down now that the water temps have gone up.

The smallmouth bite is good but not great.Fishing sunrise to about 11am each day I am getting about 10 Smallmouths a day,pitching 1/2oz jigs on main lake banks to ceder trees.Most of the bites are comming on the sink or after the first lift.The water temp is 88*.The best place I have found to launch is the ramp across the hwy from Henderson Park.

I like to use a 7' Med rod for Sammy's because I like the extra casting distance a longer rod gives me when they are busting shad.I also use Berkley 14 lb XT line..I use 12lb mono for pop-R type baits and a 6'6" med rod.Also I am looking for a good top water bait to emulate the cicadas that the fish are gorging themselves on like crazy all over Lake Norfork.

If I was you I would go to Bull Shoals instead.With all the boats (400+) for the BassCat Tournament on the water that week,I dont see how everyone will be able to find a place to park with all the ramps and parking lots under water.Its my opinion that the Corp should have canceled the permit for the BassCat TX this year.

The word from BASS to the anglers there this morning is that they are rethinking there decision to go ahead with the Tournament and will make there decision by 9am and let them know if they will cancel or go ahead with the Tournament

Well I have 3 friends that have been up there since Saturday just setting in there Motel rooms waiting for a chance to do some pre fishing.The only good thing so far is the money they are saving on gas running around the lake pre fishin.

To the my fellow fisherman parked next to me at the Oakland boat ramp that side swiped the bed of my truck and scraped a 3 ft.area of paint off.You should man up.I realize that your back seater maybe the guilty one and you may not know it happened but if you find some light blue paint on your truck its mine. As for the fishing, Ham (the carp Master)and I had a great time we caught a lot of fish at the end of the day the counter showed 54 fish but when we was on busting fish we missed hitting the counter a few times in a hurry to unhook a fish and cast back out to the feeding frenzy.There was a slow down mid day but I think we could have done better then, Jig fishing off the points had the wind not been blowing so hard.

Take a look at Berkley 100% fluorocarbon.Its the best that I have used.Try a a small filler spool and see how you like it.I think you will be happy with it.

Nice..I also caught a 8lb + bass tuesday morning walking the shore by my house on Lake Norfork.The biggest bass Ive caught sence I moved here 6 years ago.I Caught her on a LC Jerkbait

Another thing to consider is building your own fly rod.Most fly shops have rod building classes.Nothing like building your own rod and catching fish on it..

I catch 2 or 3 a year on Norfork.There color is absolutely stunning and its always a thrill to catch one they are such a hard fighting bass.Its such a shame they cant reproduce.I have seen pictures of some over 5 lbs out of Central California lakes

Dude,you are way to into yourself to presume that you know me.As for the kids,I will be going down to Long Lake Resort in OK. June 3rd for our annual Hooked on Fishin TV Kids Tournament where we pair 50 kids with 50 boat owners in 2 age groups for a half day of fishing.Each kid gets a rod and reel,a tackle bag of baits and a trophy.Checks are give to the top 3 places in each age group and after the weigh-in there is a BBQ all at no cost to the kids.We can always use volunteers chumbug..
