  1. I grew up in central Arkansas where the Arkansas River was an option during the summer. Too ugly and dangerous to attract many skiers and such, and the constant current kept the bass fat, mean and cool throughout the summer months. You are dead right about daytime fishing on clear, highland reservoirs in the summer --- nearly impossible for any number of reasons. You're equally right in your past claims about our fish becoming pelagic (offshore dwellers/feeders) a big percentage of the time. And being 1.5 hours from the lake, night fishing isn't as much of an option for me because of the long drive home and the dangers of falling asleep (I have sleep apnea). Anyway, summer is a good time for us to work on our golf games and let the boat rest a bit. I put a lot of hours on it in fall, winter and spring.
  2. A guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do. How do you think I finance all of my tackle?
  3. Bo, I can't possibly match all of your big uns. I just stay home with my tail between my legs and play golf. May give up fishing entirely.
  4. Be sure and PM me or Donna to apply for a permit to fish the Big Creek area. You're getting into a restricted area down that way.
  5. Nice Walter!
  6. Gotta love that one.
  7. Not everyone catches 3-4 pounders with regularity, QB. Just be happy for what you did catch.
  8. So you stoop to their level and then brag about it on a public forum. Hmmmm.
  9. Amen. Everyone has their point where it becomes "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
  10. There's a lot of good info right there. Thanks for the great post, top_dollar.
  11. C4f, yes Donna and I play more golf this time of year. Taking a break in the heat of summer goes back to my tournament days, I guess. I fish so much in fall, winter and spring that my boat needs a little break in the summer.
  12. Deep Wee R was my go-to crank back in the 80s.I still have some of the old ones and they still catch fish.
  13. I was pretty inspired by the should strap feature until I considered that it might cover up some of the logos on my jersey. Maybe I could use the shoulder strap to attach it to my Power Poles? Looks like a pretty sturdy rig so it could probably stand up to flapping in the wind behind me while running down the lake. Seriously, looks like a nice bag. I might go this route myself.
  14. Moral of the story ... bass fishing is more fun and much safer than trotlining.
  15. At least you scratched out some small ones. Can be very tough to get on them this time of year. Thanks for the report.
  16. Shell Knob to Big M stretch definitely has its share of them.
  17. Very nice deal.
  18. Interesting. Thanks for sharing, 96 CHAMP.
  19. The spread needs to retract back to the Left Coast from whence it came. JMO, of course.
  20. How in the name of Bear Bryant can a man with your football knowledge call the SEC brand BORING? Have you sniffed too much powder coat up your nose? And for gosh sakes, you will fish 12 hours a day, every day, for two weeks in one creek!
  21. I'm sure you would have gladly performed the operation and that your abilities are top-shelf. It's your bedside manner that would've concerned me.
  22. Dadgummit, Fly, this is an educational forum with a benevolent spirit. I just want to make sure everyone knows how to saw the sides off everything they catch so the generations to come don't spend every spare penny they make on boats, trucks, fishing tackle, GoreTex clothing, etc.
  23. Commendable effort, Robert. Cash is hard due to a layoff situation but I'll be dropping off a lure package for Chris in the next couple of days at HLS. OAF is a great place to hang out.
  24. Drama? What drama?
