  1. I have but one superstition in the world and that is it. No fish on the first cast. I always make a little short pitch and reel it in fast before I start fishing and I make Donna do the same. lol
  2. OldMillRoad is correct. Official practice days are Monday-Wednesday.
  3. We had two spots at noon and bailed while we still had time to get in an afternoon round of golf. They were nice spots (about 2 lbs each) but I wasn't gonna bet the rest of my afternoon on adding enough to them to make a check.
  4. Nice one, gitnby. I'd say you're on the mark at 5-6 lbs.
  5. Congrats on a very good day, BigMo. Love when that shallow bite gets going up the Kings. Pretty sure your bait is a Norman Deep Little N in tomato craw-chartreuse. Hard color to find and a darn good one this time of year.
  6. Also must say that Sprint makes an excellent point ... it figures to be a FISHING derby and not a bed-hunting contest. The pros themselves hunger for that. Nothing they like more than being able to match strengths with the others and let the best man win.
  7. Well said, Thumbs. Very well said.
  8. Sounds like a great stick, rps. I use a 7-0 medium/fast Duckett MIcro Magic designed for mid-size crank baits. It's paired with a Lew's Tournament series reel in 6:4:1. Love it. Light as a feather and can feel every wiggle.
  9. Seth, as you claimed to be earlier with your "haters" comment, I was making a joke about cutting the money out. And I sure didn't stoop to calling off-color names. Some of us old-timers have more class than that.
  10. Watch out, Dave. You can't go hatin' on folks like that. It's not PC. And you can't be rootin' only for the finesse fishermen coz that's discriminatory, and it's a short step from there to hate. Actually, I think they should stop fishing for money because it only encourages bad behavior and negative emotions. For Pete's sake, what if KVD doesn't make the cut? We can't have him driving back to Michigan believing he's a LOSER! I suggest they just fish for funsies and when it's all said and done, everyone gets a certificate and a little dashboard-sized trophy to gaze at on the drive home. Socialism. It's the new democracy!
  11. Great to see Mark back on track. He won a BASS event on Table Rock in March 2004 throwing a Wiggle Wart. Although this one is a few weeks later, the Wart bite is just about to start so conditions are going to be similar. A big rain helped him then. Could happen again.
  12. You busted me out, Seth. I'm a hater. I especially hate that our society has sunken to the point that people can't simply state an opinion without being mislabeled a "hater" or worse. It's the age of tolerance, where no man shall have an independent thought or opinion, much less speak it. Oh, and while I'm hating, I hate seeing the English language butchered for drama's sake. The upcoming Elite Series tournament is a sporting event, Seth. it's not about hate. It's about choosing to root for one (or more) competitor(s) over the others. I hope Palaniuk doesn't win. You hope my favorites don't win. To root for one is to root against the others, but it's not to hate them. I hate rape, murder, child/spousal abuse, animal abuse, terrorism, etc. I like some fishermen more than others. Big difference.
  13. Good job, man, especially for a post-front day.
  14. Nice report, nice day. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us.
  15. Sounds like a great day, bud. Ice cream might have been the best part! That's a great K.
  16. Too late, Dave. I have come and I have seen.. Actually, I have one tied on for our Beaver derby tomorrow. Couldn't stand it any longer.
  17. You're gonna love it, AAD. Guarantee it.
  18. They all need to be glad Robbie Dodson isn't qualified for the Elite Series. That boy is some kind of tough on Table Rock this time of year. He's big friends with Christie (they used to room together on FLW) so JC may get some good help from him. Far as Palaniuk goes, hope he misses the cut. Really tired of him being on every other page of Bassmaster and BASS Times just because he's the fair-haired pretty boy and the apple of McKinnis' eye. Just my own opinion.
  19. Yes, Dave, love that purple haze. Ran out of room before I put my brown/purple lams in there but I have those, too. Really like the sprayed grass color (top right). Thanks for the vote of confidence, guys. And yes, Ham, there's a good chance she might use them more than me. Especially in derbies because very soon I'm gonna start slinging a blade, then it's gonna be Fin time. I will let her mop up behind me with the Ned rig. On days that it's a bottom bite, I'll be glad to pick up the Ned. I enjoy catching them on a spinning rod.
  20. You can have my spot in the Everett and I'll go play golf. LOL
  21. Good stuff. Anything Dave Barker has to say is worth a close listen.
  22. This thread has undoubtedly rewritten the record for number of posts on the subject of freakin' boat registration numbers. There is a Stone County government office in Blue Eye, where you are moving. The phone number is (417) 779-3413. Took me 30 seconds to Google it. Call them. They can answer your questions. It's what they do. Here, we talk about fishin. Most of the time anyways.
  23. Good to see you again. Don't be a stranger.
  24. You can get the Lew's TS1H for $149 all day and perhaps cheaper if you can catch it on sale. It's part of the Tournament Pro series and is one smooth little reel. Ratio is 6:4:1 on mine, I believe the also come in a 7:1 version. Hard to buy a quality reel that will throw a light bait for under $150. If you do find something that will, it will wear out in a year's time.
