  1. Well said, fozzype.
  2. Guess they cut back from top 50 since they could only get 70 to fish.
  3. Look pretty good to me.
  4. You sure don’t want more than a medium stain with the water temp below 50.
  5. It was always a favorite tournament time of year for me because it took persistence and the confidence to keep your bait wet in the right places for what probably wasn’t going to be many bites. Usually knew who you had to beat to get a good check. Now, too many times, some youngster full of urine and vinegar flinging an A-rig stumbles through enough of them to beat you. Can’t blame em as long as it’s legal. Just not my thing.
  6. Good info, Bill, and you know my gal will be draggin' that jig, as well as the lil' critter. I'll play with the Wart/RK and a sticker out of the front and watch her kick my tail. I like it that way.
  7. Okay, okay …. you twisted my arm enough to make my tennis elbow twang … I'm in.
  8. Hey abk, I don't know where you got your Death Traps but someone must have filed down the points on them. You can't LOOK at one of those things without getting hooked. Gammy doesn't begin to compare. I bet Alex got into your tackle box with a file when you weren't looking ... payback for your nuclear defense system guarding a certain dock in Beardsley. 😂
  9. Bingo. I want every advantage I can get when it comes to hooking the bites I get. Because no matter how many that is in a given day, it's never enough.
  10. It's getting to be that early prespawn bite where you can hunt and peck around in the river arm of your choosing and come up with a decent bag of LM. May take all day but it can be done. And you don't need the Awful Rig to do it.
  11. Donna and I are going this weekend. Will report back on a potential crank bait bite. Not sure where we may launch yet but somewhere in the White/Kings rivers area.
  12. Nicely done, sir. Right now, the rivers are more the place to be for numbers. But the lower end is obviously kicking out some thumper spots and very nice SM.
  13. They don't publicize dates and launch spots for a reason ... to cut down on interference from outside boat traffic.
  14. There's a big sharpness gap between the Daiichi Death Traps and any other hook I've ever touched. Ask Babler. He was the first around here that I know of to use them.
  15. Now that's some terminology I can snuggle up to concerning the cheater rig. 😂
  16. Good report and encouraging to hear of what could be the beginning of the prespawn crank bait bite. That K is a brute.
  17. That's using the term "Elite" very, very loosely. Have you read Bassmaster or BASS Times recently? Apparently, they are no longer going to source their articles from any pro who left the BASS tournament ranks. Never heard of hardly any of these guys they are elevating to expert status in the new issues. I'd rather get my info here.
  18. Daiichi Death Trap or Owner Stinger for me .
  19. Another option is the Wart-like blank from Predator. I have a friend who custom paints baits in Rogers and he's given me several of these to try. They will flat-out catch fish.
  20. That paint job doesn't look the greatest to me. Neither do the hooks and split rings. Suggestion: Take two of your own Warts (new Original series works just fine), remove the hardware and send them to Hughes Custom Lures, along with a pic of this bait. He will paint them up for you … much better than this bait … for $12 each. Shipping is $7 per order for a total of $31 for two baits. Put your own choice of trebles and split rings when you get them back. Tim is a member here on the forum … goes by Hughesy.
  21. None yet but haven't had them too long. Give me time.
  22. The new-style toters haven't been out that long so naturally all of the old boats with failed transoms used motor-to-trailer support. I also use the snap-on stops for hydraulic steering that keep the motor from shaking side-to-side while trailering. May help, may not but certainly doesn't hurt.
  23. You are even putting it on Bo, and that's saying something! Beautiful fish.
  24. If one bass dies from tournament fishing ... and we all know that FAR MORE than one are killed ... then it has a negative impact on the population. Is the mortality number significant? Since “significant” is subjective, then there is not a definitive answer. Mom not completely anti-tournament but I’m 110% against any number ... no matter how small... of our fish dying for lack of correct handling.
  25. Ain't but one God here or anywhere else and He only needs two fish to feed 5,000. 😊
