  1. I like that guy! Thanks for the link. I think I'll try to keep from fishing with my drone. It would be a blast but I'm afraid I'd crash it into the water. Mine's not as powerful as his Mavic but it was only about a third of the expense too. Dude makes good videos.
  2. As someone that has driven a fast bass boat and loves it, I never understood why there wasn't a speed limit?
  3. You should have swam back to the truck and grabbed some more. My favorite bait of all time. Get some bigger hooks. You won't find me near the water without a bag of bubblegum Zoom's. Last year somewhere on that river on a Zoom.
  4. I use to pity those types of people but I'm sure they have something that drives them. That's all anybody really needs. Something that you enjoy and drives you to excel in. Some find that in a career, some in music, some in gaming, others in the outdoors. Whatever blows your skirt up. But when I'm at the beach in a few weeks you'll find me every morning on the beach at 5am with a flyrod in hand. My pool time will be spent napping.
  5. That depends on who you ask but I'd like to see less people plowing into bluffs.
  6. Nice! I thought I was the only one that worked with idiots.
  7. If it’s helpful to you I would post any I have as an article.
  8. We'll be sending someone by to cut off a pinky toe.
  9. I'm an idiot. You already knew that.
  10. Looks like on their website you can do C&R fishing for $105 per day. You can also get guided trips which would be good for you.
  11. Yep it kinks but it also stays where I put it, while still making it easy to move. I have some small ones. Probably a smaller profile than palsa to a fish but they are riding high and visible on my end. To me the line kink is the only drawback. But if it get's bad I'll add a new leader or tippet.
  12. The RV is not ours. Just some folks camped in the next spot. Think his name was Eddie.
  13. I've had the best luck with Thingamabobbers. Still not perfect.
  14. Couple more drone shots. One of Jeff trying to take a picture of it taking a picture of him. So someplace there is a picture of it trying to take a picture of Jeff who is trying to take a picture of it. And one looking down on our campsite from 320 feet. Can't wait to get this thing on the gulf coast in a few weeks.
  15. It was in my dry bag but I never got it out on the water. Probably should have a few times just to see where we were headed and if it looked any better than where we had been. But it is illegal to fly a drone in a national park so the reward did not outweigh the reward. This shot was taken with it from our campsite. About 320 ft. up. I've got a couple of others looking down at the campsite that I need to pull off of it.
  16. Two reasons. I didn't like the attitudes that were forming and I had three daughters and family was more important than fishing at that point. But it wasn't because i was bad at it. I get the drive and desire to compete. I still think about it all the time. But I also see the negative side. Some of us have just moved on.
  17. It's not someplace I'll go rushing right back to but I did enjoy my time there. I can't say that it didn't live up to my expectations because I had none. Trips seem more rewarding when you just go with it. As Jeff asked me Saturday, "If I told you that we were going to drive 3 hours to catch 2 fish but one was going to be a nice bass would you do it?" Uh yeah. Every single time. John I'll get you some spanish moss and gator pics in a few weeks.
  18. So me and my buddy @Harps headed over to Mingo National Wildlife Refuge on Friday. Something we had been talking about doing for a couple of years. We didn't really know anything about the place besides it was there and held some fish we would like to catch. Namely a bowfin. We had planned the trip a couple of months ago and while we didn't want to wait until it got real hot we didn't want to risk going when it was too cold. Set the date and guess what? It was real hot. We also chose to camp at the State Park at Wappapello. Looking at the map is was right around the corner from where we would be going. That right around the corner turned out to be 30+ miles and about an hours drive from the put in. But it did open up different choices for dinner and ice cream! We visited Chunky Boyz for BBQ on Friday night in Puxico. That's a good spot and they have upped their accommodations. The sunset as we crossed the dam at Wappapello was beautiful. Then we had to stop at Carolina's Ice Cream Shop & Cafe in Wappapello to get Jr. a chocolate shake. On Saturday night we ate at Crabb & Co. in Wappapello. Didn't get any pics there but it was another good meal. While we were having cocktails around the campfire the locals showed up for tent inspections. Mingo is a pretty place. That is for sure. Well except for that tea colored water. The thing I guess that surprised me the most was the lack of life. Sure we saw a couple of snakes, and turtles, and birds, and a couple of beavers. But no more than you would see anywhere else. And actually saw less turtles than what I expected. We put in on the Mingo River at the end of Flatbanks Road. We had been warned at the visitor center that we wouldn't be able to get into the marsh because of water levels but should be able to paddle up top Stanley Creek. Maybe we could of but it would have been through miles of really nasty weed choked water. The fishing sucked. You just can't say it any other way. 2 guys fishing pretty hard for two days with only 2 gills and 1 bass to show for it. I was lucky enough to catch one of the gills and the lone bass. The Swamp Witch granted me one wish on that bass.
  19. Yep. Every single post you make.
  20. Yeah i thought @jdmidwest might know something about that area. Either way I'll have a better understanding of it in a couple of days.
  21. Thanks for the info slabseeker. I'm the dive master as far as eating places go so no fear there. And I'm sure an iced tea will sound wonderful after a 95 degree day.
  22. I think I understood more than what I should have! Nothing better than flishing.
  23. Yep. Much easier to catch than a bass that ate some egg weights. Did you see those pics? What a retard he was.
  24. Gonna go paddle around a bit and see the sights and maybe cast a fly. Any thoughts on this place? Any good places close by to grab some food and a beer after a hot day in the swamp?
  25. Waders suck. I was wet wading in March.
