  1. Nice logperch. I need a couple of those for my aquarium.
  2. Floated 215 to Taylor and the fishing sucked and the wind blew. Or maybe the fishing blew and the wind sucked. But either way we didn't do so good. Didn't stop us from having a good day on the river though.
  3. Well I do believe I will need to go verify this information.
  4. I agree with Phil.
  5. Agreed. And THAT is what we have to understand. Let's say Al and I go float a river one day. Al catches 4 20's, 6 18's and about 47 other fish. I float along and make a few casts, catch a few fish, take a few pictures. Who has the most "successful" day? You can't answer that question because that answer lies in the minds of the individual and their perception of success. I'm not trying to create a mountain out of a mole hill but I see a lot of people that get into fishing only to abandon it because the results they get don't match the "success" that is portrayed on the internet. I just want them to know that success is mostly an opinion. And that goes for more than just fishing.
  6. I rarely agree with JoeD but he nails it here.
  7. My wife is no outdoors girl. Would rather be shopping than fishing any day. Doesn't like to fish, not against it, but she would just rather sit and watch. And she has created several clones of herself that are really the same way. One of them still thinks fishing with dad is cool though she rarely does it anymore. But I don't fault them. Do what you love. Love what you do. And they rarely complain about my need to be fishing as much as possible. Here is the spawn of the Queen in their natural habitat. And everybody wonders why I'm broke all the time. But I wouldn't have it any other way.
  8. I guess he was an expert at catching tagged fish. And hungry.
  9. I can guarantee that any one can out fish me. I'm just not going to try that hard anymore. I chased those bass tournament dreams for a lot of years. Glad I no longer have those dreams. These days i'm just as likely to paddle over a good looking spot searching for the monster that lives there as I am to make a cast. My only competition is the fish. I'd say we are even currently. Not that I'm against anybody that is striving to be the expert. Beer there, done that, understand it.
  10. Yeah what about that?
  11. This is true. Pomme is a hell of a lot nicer lake to be on.
  12. I like it. Nice job! I knew exactly where you were before you even said. I have fished that area a bunch over the years. Always been a lot of whites and walleye around there.
  13. Probably more truth to that than I care to admit.
  14. Ronnie is NOT a fan of googly eyes unless we are making sock puppets.
  15. It is a much better way of looking at it. I like to take pictures and record the flows. Helps build a database in my mind.
  16. Some people are just born to be a turd.
  17. Well your "the bomb" is behind times too ya know. If you are going to talk like a 13 year old girl at least do it in their current language. I think the knew term is "lit".
  18. I know I've mentioned this one before but I caught part of it the other day and it's still really good. Weird, but really good.
  19. You live with Satan too!! Actually mine is not that bad. But she has put her foot down for this weekend. However, there is a chance that I slip away in the dark early Sunday morning though. Might have to beg for forgiveness but it would be worth it.
  20. Even if it's not a cheesy link Wrench makes it a good point. It sounds like corrosion. I've seen the same thing happen with a corroded fusible link. Corrosion in the wire would do the same thing.
  21. shhhhhh Yeah as long as we don't get a big blow out we should be fine. If it will stay between 250 and 400 then it should be a really good time. Now if I can just find the time. Anybody even mentions a good day and I might get the flu.
  22. Pulp Fiction?
  23. Several years ago I was drifting a caddis pattern into a rootwad on the James and catching some decent gills. As I was bringing one of those in a nice sized smallmouth came up and swallowed it. The gill wasn't huge but neither was the smallmouth. It was very cool to see but was way more than I could handle on a 3 wt. A smallmouth eats whatever it wants.
  24. I haven't but I do throw some flies that are 6 to 8 inches long and they catch fish. Bass, especially smallmouth, aren't shy.
