  1. I remember the QB too. I used to catch a lot of fish on a Little Scooper when I was a kid. Still do from time to time. It's been a couple of years but I still fish one of the ones i had when I was 10 or so. Pushing 48 now so that's a long time to fish one bait. Still catches fish.
  2. I don't know for sure but #10 looks a lot like a Bill Norman Scooper. Not sure if it's a little scooper or a super scooper. I'd have to dig one of mine out to measure it.
  3. As consumers we want our equipment to last forever. We demand quality. Manufacturers hear that demand and they deliver a quality product that lasts and lasts. But how can they survive like that. Imagine you sell milk. The milk you sell is expensive but one gallon lasts 10 years. In the beginning sales are great. Everybody wants what you are selling. But that isn’t a very good business model. Because once everyone has your milk then sales are going to suck until everybody needs more milk. So you introduce new and improved milk (with 1.2 million ball bearings). It’s basically the same milk but it lasts 15 years. And of course everyone has to have it because it’s the new thing and all the cool kids are doing it. So there we start the vicious cycle. We are not buying off of need as much as we are off of want. There is so much demand on manufacturer’s from both the consumer and investor side that they have no choice to keep improving and charging more. It’s the only way they can show growth in most cases. But I’m not innocent of any of this. When I fished a lot of tournaments I always had the best gear that you could buy. Always. And I just replaced a good working fly reel with another mostly because the new one would look better in pics. Yep, I’m that guy.
  4. I have been enjoying this. Was a gift from my BIL. http://www.publichousebrewery.com/
  5. Hey I got nothing against it at all Vernon. And I'm not saying you have to destroy it either. But I would never want a boat that would make me sick if I scuffed it. At the prices that some of these are at now days I think I would be sick if I bought one and scratched it. Not that I'm going to buy one anytime soon. Enjoy it. If you spent the money on it then you definitely should be proud of it, take care of it and enjoy the heck out of it.
  6. I don't want a boat that can't be fished hard. Pretty is nice but it's not putting more fish in the boat.
  7. That color jerk bait has been a good color on that lake for a long time. Nice job.
  8. Nice job. I really like that. What are you covering it with? Where's the exhaust filter. You might have to put up some type if deflector so it doesn't pull all the air from right beside it. Sorry, I have a love for paint booths.
  9. Looks like a great time. That's a nice fish Chief! Love the kid picks. I need to get my middle daughter out.
  10. I have had some of my best days fishing in some of the worst winter weather conditions. If it's cold and snowing or sleeting then it can be awesome. It can also suck too. Baits? Could be anything.
  11. I did ask my buddy about it. He lives right around the corner. Her said, "You mean the one that's fenced off with razor wire?". I took that as no fishing.
  12. And then that dumb probably sued the fireworks manufacturer.
  13. Nobody wants that group of flyfishing thugs there.
  14. That settles it, I'm not coming. Actually I would love to attend this but my oldest graduates from MSU that weekend so I will be busy all weekend being an ATM. Somebody save me one of those autographed pictures of Chief. I hear you can get a free square of toilet paper at Dollar General just by showing one.
  15. I've done it in the past and been very successful at it. But just like everything else it doesn't work all the time. Plus to do it correctly and increase it's potential there is a bunch of planning that needs to be involved. Back when I fished tournaments there were times when I could tell you before the start of the tournament where I would be at any given time of the day. And how long I would be there. Sometimes that worked out and I cashed a check, other times it was like a bad dream.
  16. It's a catfish clown car.
  17. That's what I wanted to do but I really wanted the Temp readings as well.
  18. You better be careful or she'll have you sitting on the bank. We know who's really in control in that boat.
  19. I went with the Lowrance. I mounted the transducer to the hull. Probably not my brightest idea but I haven't had any problems with it yet. Using a battery out of an old electric scooter for power.

    Well aren't you fancy.
  23. I don't know about a map but a small fish finder is a good investment. You don't need a big fancy one. Just knowing the depth, especially on that lake, will help a bunch.
  24. What??? I don't remember agreeing to any of this!! LOL. I have so much going on right now that I just totally forgot about it. I guess I need to head to the flyshop and pick up some supplies. I'll get them done in the next week or so and then get them in the mail.
  25. It was probably the Russians.
