  1. It never drained sitting in the water. It was always open. Was like that on two champions and one ranger.
  2. If you get on the trail from the north side of the river it's a lot shorter walk.
  3. That pump out thing would have been nice when I was parked at the marina at the end of the day chasing that last fish around the livewell to put in my weigh in bag. I just started leaving it open at the end of the day and letting it drain on the run back to the marina. I hated chasing that last fish around the livewell.
  4. Stockton is an incredible spinnerbait lake in the spring and fall. Never thrown a War Eagle but any good spinnerbait will be just as effective on that lake.
  5. It is a little rough up above Brownbranch in the summer but it's also awesome. Yeah you might drag and have to carry your boat around some obstacles but there is usually nobody else up there and plenty of fish. Most people are going to take the easy route and wonder why the fishing isn't great. I'd rather take the hard route and enjoy the eager fish. 11 miles is going to be a little long if the water is low though. Either start really early or choose a shorter float. They have one that's 7 or 8 miles I think. I've done it in Jun and it wasn't too bad. We did have to portage once quite a ways when we ran into the worlds largest log jam. Fishing was awesome though and we never saw another person until we got back to Brownbranch.
  6. Nope. My wife laughs at me all the time about it. But it don't have to be a creek or river. I slow down and look at any body of water.

    What's Cooking?

    Exactly.
  8. Yes please. Pomme used to have a good bit of grass in it and I loved it.
  9. Or is it's just because of location. Look at Falcon. There are basically zero regulations on Mexico side of the lake but when I was going there we always fished the Mexican side with great results.
  10. Good points 5bites. I'm not against them spots at all but I would like to see what the results would be. It might just be that some people are able to keep a few fish because they aren't able to catch and 15 inchers. Or maybe they take those spots instead of the fish that have the potential to grow bigger. I think you leave Table Rock as is though and only do this on Stockton for a trial. And while I agree that I would rather catch a 4lb spot over a 4 lb largemouth, I also realize that my chances of catching a 4 lb largemouth are much, much greater than catching a 4 lb spot. I'm not convinced though that a largemouth is going to take the place of a spot though. They seem to live a little differently. Texas may not be "getting it done" but it's a hell of a lot better there than it is here. But many things factor into that, not just species of fish. Some of the most fun you can have in the summer is floating down the James river catching spots. You find one and you usually find a bunch. Easy to catch and a heck of a lot of fun.
  11. I've got nothing for this list. I used to watch some series when I was younger. Maybe 20 years ago. But I just can't seem to commit the time to any of them any more. I can barely commit to a 2 hour movie these days. I do still watch Survivor every week with my 11 year old daughter. She loves that show.
  12. Nope. Occasionally after a fish you have to straighten out the tail a bit but that's it.

Springfield Brewery has been around a decade or so. They have some good stuff but like most craft beers are a little pricey. Another good one is Mother's Brewery. Both have beers that are pretty easy to find around town. Luckily my office is about 30 feet from SBC and maybe a block from Mothers. And if you want a taste of the hard stuff Missouri Spirits is right around the corner.

    What's Cooking?

That's right, it is too much for 3 people. Should have invited me. That's like inviting another 3 people and we could have finished it off.

    Ned Rig

How many have you caught today?

    Ned Rig

Well then don't come on here saying I would be a liar if I caught a bunch of fish without using it.
  17. There are a lot of spots in Stockton. Maybe not as many as Table Rock, but still a bunch. I see no reason to leave them at 15 inches with the others.
  18. Take Hwy 13 north out of town. Left on Hwy 215 going to Morrisville. Right on Farm Road 60. Right at the T. You are there. Approx 20 - 25 miles.

    Ned Rig

I agree that there is nothing boring about catching fish. But I don't have to use a ned to catch them. And when I have it has not icreased my catch rate. You guys that like that type of fishing probably wouldn't like my style of fishing and that's fine. I'm not trying to shove it down anyone's throat. But there are many, many ways to catch lots of fish on the river.

    Ned Rig

WOW! Panties are wadded up tight today. Come meet me on the river any day you want and I will be catching plenty of fish and there will not be any ned rig stuff any where near me. There are other ways to catch fish that work just as well in a river. I'm not saying the ned rig doesn't work but it's a boring way to fish. I'm out there to have a good time and enjoy fishing the way I want to fish.
  21. You make some good points Al. Of course all of that fits your fishing style which is no where close to mine. And probably why I like a slower canoe. I've been in some fast ones and they are super great for paddling through some slow pools is that's what works for you. There are so many options so you can choose what style works the BEST FOR YOU. There is no right or wrong answer. You just have to find what you like.
