  1. Or baby kittens.
  2. This is another one for the bad list. I thinks he's flashing gangster signs.
  3. Yeah my daughter wears a mens size ten, but you go ahead and make fun of me if it makes you feel more like a man.
  4. A small aperture, like a f2.8 is going to give you a small depth of field or a smaller area of focus. A larger aperture like f16 will put more things in focus. You don't have a ton of light available so the auto settings will set the aperture to the maximum width it can to capture as much light as possible. You can adjust it to what ever size you want when using the manual settings and then set a slower shutter speed or increase the available light. More light is your best option.
  5. Yeah I think he was imprisoned for his last unsuccessful gar grabbing adventure. Have you guys tried using a live trout as bait. I hear they really like those.
  6. I have an almost new pair of Simms. Been wet 3 or 4 times. Make you a good deal. But I don't have little bitty baby feet like you.
  7. Great fish Michael.
  8. I've seen it and it's bigger than 7 or 8. Some weirdo caught it though.
  9. I seriously doubt that any of these shootings was a result of being scared of the animal. Just another thing to brag about at the local coffee shop.
  10. That makes everything better. You will drag some but there will still be some good places to fish. Good luck.
  11. Yeah everyone heard you were going to be there so we just stayed home.
  12. I hope they are very productive for you guys. Jack I shorted you on the frog but all I had was the original and the one I sent to Aro. I'll get some more done soon and make sure you get one. When I got started I was very lucky to have a bunch of guys show me the ropes and turn me on to some things, I'm just paying it forward. Enjoy and share some reports with us.
  13. I can't wait to see the final weight. Should be interesting. What are you using for filler??
  14. I have no idea if they are worth the price or not. But here is something I read on Fly Rod + Reel Online this week. New from Orvis for 2012 Gear Recognizing the realities of this economy, Orvis decided to focus on updating their value-based products, and they did it in a really innovative way. Many fly rod companies have gone overseas for production of their budget rods in recent years. The technique for many overseas manufacturers is very similar to how bamboo makers used to steal each others' tapers in the golden era of the 1920s-1940s: basically, you just cut the rod up into many tiny sections and take precise measurements, then copy the internal taper (which gives you both the mandrel shape as well as the approximate number of turns of graphite needed to reach the external diameter). Orvis's Steve Hemkens explained that for their updated Clearwater series, they instructed their overseas partners to do the same thing... to the Helios. "Basically," Hemkens said, "we knocked off our own rods!" The results are excellent: a modern fast action taper made with budget conscious componentry for $198 (freshwater) and $225 (saltwater). In keeping with the theme, Orvis also used the same drag design from its high-end reels to design an all new composite plastic (and also formed aluminum) Clearwater Reel, starting at only $49. Combo packages with line will be available for under $300.
  15. Nikon makes a 50mm 1.8 that you can usually pick up for around $125. It's a great lens. It's a prime lens so you have to do the Fred Flintstone zoom, but it takes some amazing pictures. But if you are doing a lot of outdoor/daylight stuff you won't have to worry about this too much in the beginning. It's all about light and how you use it to your advantage. Here is the 50 at B&H Photo. $124.95 and free shipping. Nikon 50mm 1.8
  16. Read a lot, learn your camera, learn to take pictures without using Auto mode. Nothing against Auto mode but you will learn a lot more about a camera when you start using it in manual mode and learn how different settings affect the outcome. Take tons of pictures, they are digital so you can delete all the junk. Pay attention to your settings so that is you do get something good you can understand why it was good. Take a lot of pictures. Have a lot of fun. Post some shots. And did I mention to take a lot of pictures.
  17. And the mighty dollar wins the battle. Just glad I bought my Simms felts when they were on the way out.
  18. That's a beautiful fish Al.
  19. I'm just happy to see you two bonding, even if it is through your shared hatred of me. My work here is done.
  20. Oh I didn't want to fish, just wanted to stop by and drown you. Good luck at birthing class. Always a good time.
  21. You are a sick little man. There will be no frogs for you. You hitting the river again on your way home?
  22. aawwwwww. You guys should hug now. Sorry, I'm a butt and I know it.
  23. That's the funniest thing I have ever heard. How's that working out for you Eric.
